Something New

Confession: This post is going to be a little different tonight.

As you know, I am on set all week for a commercial campaign. And for those who have never been in or around the acting biz, days on set are lonnnnggg. We’re talking 12 hour days. Add on to that a 45 minute commute in either direction and let’s just say, I’m pretty mentally spent.

Not that I’m complaining! This is what I live for…well, maybe a few other things too 😉

But all that being said, coming up with a mentally stimulating brain buster of a blog tonight was simply…impossible.

SO I thought I’d do a little Get To Know Caralyn session 🙂 haha

I know…thrilling…

JK This’ll be fun! 🙂 And I want you to play too! So pick a question or two and answer in the comments 🙂 #LetsBeFrwends

      • Well since you are a lot younger your VW was probably a newer one, Mine was a 1971 model and yes the sunroof had a, well if you remember when you had to roll down windows? It was a handle like that, but it was hinged. You pulled it down and out until it was straight, (of course it’s on the ceiling of the car, not the door LOL) cranked it like you were rolling up(or down) a window and folded the handle back in when you had the sunroof open or closed. If ANY of that makes sense LOL hugs back at you lovely xoxo

Favorite Band: Duran Duran, any music from 1980’s, Need to Breathe, Lifehouse
    Favorite food: Chocolate; OH Henry

I don’t want to overload you, so that is where I will end. Have a great weekend Caralyn!

    • Love this Tamara! LOVE sound of music! I was actually in that when I was younger – I was the littlest von trap:) hehe thanks for playing along! Hugs and love xox

  36. Fun!

Favorite rock song from the early 00s? “Hero” by the Foo Fighters. (It was released in 1997, so technically too early, but this song is a major part of my high school soundtrack). “Chop Suey!” by System of a Down. “Minority” by Green Day.

Favorite Summertime Treat? Watermelon. Cantaloupe. My mom’s cold pasta salad (so good!)

Favorite Summertime Tradition? Backyard badminton tournaments.

Favorite beauty product must have? DevaCurl anything. It’s the best.

    Favorite Book? Waaaaaaaay too many.

Favorite Song? Right now, I’m enjoying “Glorious” by Macklemore, which is really far out of my norm. I always go back to the old hymns, like “Rock of Ages,” “It is Well With My Soul” and “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.”

    Favorite Destination? London. Edinburgh.

    • Hi Marie! Oh these are great. I LOVE DevaCurl products too! My hair is naturally curly and so when I wear it that way, their DevaCurl products are the way to go. I actually go to their salon in NYC! And ohhhh I love it is well with my soul – especially Audrey assad’s rendition. Thanks for playing along! Hugs and love xox

  37. Actor/actress. Now you’re playing in my ballpark. Anthony Hopkins? No rebuttal from me; he’s a great one. Have you seen Remains of the Day? But, here are my choices, reaching back into the mists of time. Jack Nicholson. He did some good work in the 90s: A Few Good Men, As Good as it Gets. But, for the real Jack you’re gonna have to watch Turner Classic and catch a couple 70s flicks. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest–Jack gets Oscar. Even better, the best detective story ever, Chinatown. Jack in film noir: priceless! Actress = Jane Fonda, also with a string of great performances in the 70s. Two Oscars, a couple nominations. My choice; the original feminist film of the 70s, Julia. Also with amazing performance by Vanessa Redgrave. There you go. Not necessarily better than Anthony Hopkins, but different. Favorite dessert–Sander’s cream puff hot fudge (it’s a Detroit classic). Favorite destination–Columbia Icefields in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.

  38. Love your answers!!! Girl, Anne Frank’s diary is one of my favorite books as well!!! If you are really into her story, check out a book called, “The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank,” by Willy Lindwer, if you are curious, and the biography of Anne Frank, by Melissa Muller. The biography is really good, the last seven months do cover some difficult situations so warning about that. I’ve read the diary at least four times, but I’m thinking probably six haha. : ) I have a number of books that I enjoy, so it’s hard to choose. I would say…The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom is probably #1 or top favorite. She was a Christian woman, and hid Jews in her home. Her story is so inspirational!!! Every time she struggled with her faith or wondering how God would provide for her….He did!!!

    • Hey TR! Thanks for this. Oh wow I’ll definitely check that book out. Thanks for the recco. Yeah her story is just so heartbreaking. I’ve read the Hiding Place! What a powerful book. Thanks for playing along. It sounds like you and I have a similar historical interest. 🙂 big hugs to you xox

      • Also, I loved your questions about favourite place to be, role model, and memory.
Remembering good, and also realising these as near, close and possible 🙂

      • I hope you don’t mind my posting –
        Favourite memory
I was invited on a ski camp with my old high school and three other alumni. The four of us went out to a bar one night after a day on the snow. We sat around a table in comfy couches, and had a beer or two. The bar was quiet and almost empty.
I remember walking home in the snow that night…

        Favourite place
        Lots…
Under the blue sky (Denver gets a lot),
        In the “glory” at church…,
My Nanna and Grandad’s, now deceased
Starbucks at 7am on a Monday
        The grace meal after church,

        Role model
Three Christian couples I have known. A maths professor and his wife, a UN aid worker couple, and a medical doctor couple. Each have been interested in me, and have been an encouragement in their models of life and faith.

  46. Are you allowed to say what the commercial advertises? Is it on TV? Print? Other media? As someone outside “the biz” it’s interesting to me and an opportunity to see you “in action” would be welcome. Your ability as a blogger is much appreciated, BTW.

  47. My perfume is by Ralph Lauren too, but it’s Romance. It was my go to scent when my daughter was born and I’ve recently rediscovered it. My favorite actor is probably Denzel Washington.
It was a lot of fun getting to know more about you… I know about those days where you’re too exhausted to think deeply 🙂 Best of luck on your commercial campaign!

  48. I might have to fight you on Anthony Hopkins. 😉 I’m a Liam Neeson girl, with Ralph Fiennes as an equally close second (and when I say Liam Neeson, I mean Schindler’s List era, not Taken . . . but I also have a soft spot in my heart for Phantom Menace . . .). Favorite music is easily anything from the 60’s and 70’s, namely Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks. Favorite movie is Schindler’s List, mainly because it’s so impactful and partly because my favorite destination is Berlin/the University trip I took to Germany and Poland. I was an Olson Twins girl, but Our Lips Are Sealed is my favorite. And . . . if I had to pick ONE blog post (so hard, right??) I think it would be ‘Dear Dad: A Hundred and One’ which was a letter to my dad about all the things I still wish I could say.

    • oh Liam Neeson is definitely up there too! You know, I’ve actually never seen Schindler’s List – I should watch it. I know it’s a difficult movie to watch, but I think it’s important to honor those innocent people who lost their lives in such a tragic way. Thanks for playing along. big hugs to you xox

  49. Would love if you submit your story to f-ACT Magazine (you liked one of the articles about board games)… the submission guidelines are on the site and features are up to 2000 words, and will be listed under family; health and/or fashion/beauty. If you need to ask any questions, feel free to email directly through my websites.
    Thank you.
