Look Ma, I’m on a Podcast!

I am SO excited to share tonight’s post with you!!

And it’s a little different 🙂

Earlier this week, I had the absolute pleasure of being a guest on the podcast, “A Jew and a Gentile Walk into a Bar…Mitzvah!

ajag-large-web.png

I chatted with the hosts, Charles and Chris, about my story and the crossover of faith and recovery.

The guys were great, and couldn’t have given me a warmer welcome on their show.

I gave it a listen this morning while I was taking a walk, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you, my friends 🙂 It seriously took so much will power to wait all day until 7:00 to publish it — I literally had to sit on my hands to keep from pushing “share!”! hah

So I invite you to please give it a listen. My interview starts around the 11:30 mark.

((Click here to listen and scroll to the black play bar at the bottom!))

Thanks again to Charles and Chris for inviting me to come on!

And also: if you missed last night’s post, I shared my recipe for Bejeweled Brussels Sprouts, and even shared a cooking demonstration video for the recipe…so that’s worth a couple of laughs, if you need a mid-week pick-me-up! haha

    • Thanks so much! And thanks for asking. She’s doing great! Yeah my posts unfortunately don’t show up in the reader anymore because i upgraded to a business profile :/ but they’re still up! 🙂 thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  1. “Choose Life”. You were correct when you mentioned early that everyone is recovering from something.

What a great interview! (Listened to the entire podcast)

As a cigar smoker and beer drinker, I had no choice but to subscribe. I like these guys.

    Thanks for the introduction.

    • thanks so much Ray! and gosh, thanks for listening! hahah yeah, they’re great people. Hope you’re having a great week! big hugs x

  2. Been a while since I’ve had a chance to get on here so good to see how things are going and I will have to check into your book when I get back from overseas next summer. Have a Blessed Christmas season.

  3. Such a great discussion, Caralyn! I love hearing you talk and share your faith and how God brought you through it! It’s beautiful and I’m so happy for you. We did communion at my church on Sunday and during it, a song we did at my old church every so often popped back into mind. I thought about it again while listening to this interview. The song is “Carried to the Table” by Leeland. We can choose to see ourselves as undeserving and broken, or we can choose to see ourselves how God does. I wanted to share it with you:

    Have a great night, friend!

  4. I just got done listening to the podcast…and reposting it. This is another very nice window into you, your journey, and your message. Thank you for taking the time to be on their show and once again shining God’s light for others to see!

    • Hey Jeff! Oh gosh, thank you 🙂 I’m honored that you would pass it along. Yeah i was really nervous (i know you could probably tell in the beginning) but once the convo got going i felt more comfortable and the sharing came more easily. Thank you for taking the time to listen, Jeff. You’re a great friend. Hope you’re having a great week – and enjoy that vacation coming up!! Hugs to you and Julie! Xox

      • Nervous? I didn’t get a whisper of nerves. You were cool and breezy from the very first word. It was a real pleasure listening to you talk about everything I’ve read about, filling in details that haven’t come out in your blog (or that I just forgot!). Just like on Patreon, hearing someone adds a dimension that reading can’t capture.

You did great! You interaction with those guys was so easy and fun that what could have been a downer topic was actually entertaining as well as informational. All I think everyone heard was this vibrant, healthy young woman who God rescued from ED. Period.

You done good!! 🙂 Safe flight back to NYC!!!

      • aw, thank you Jeff! You’re right – I love putting a voice with people’s words…you get inflection and little subtext tones that just don’t come out in text. Thank you 🙂 i really appreciate that, and i appreciate you listening! thanks!!! have a fabulous weekend my friend! xox

  5. Enjoyed the podcast and your choosing life. It is so inspirational to hear your story and know that there is hope. We are not alone and God is always there to help us. Hugs! Thank you for sharing.

    • Thank you so much! I appreciate you giving it a listen! You’re right – we’re never alone! So glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  6. Look at that. God is continuing to use your journey of recovery and healing to spread that message that “While things may start off wrong. God can still turn it around for His glory”

I love your blog posts and enjoy reading them as often as I can.

    • Thank you so much 🙂 I really appreciate that. Amen to that! God can still turn it around! big hugs xox

  7. The option to comment on your blog is finally showing again on the WordPress app! 🙂 And you were great on that podcast!

    • oh that’s so good! thanks! yeah i was a bit of a squeaky wheel to get it fixed haha thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  8. Caralyn, what a testimony you gave… in your healing and in your salvation! Deut. 30:19-20 now hold a special place in my heart! <3 Thank you for letting God use you! I enjoyed the laughs too! God loves you!

      • You’re welcome and yes, I did enjoy it. I listened to it while doing work at my desk. It was honest, raw, inspiring and encouraging. God bless.

  9. Caralyn – I just listened to the podcast. I have read your blog, but to hear you speak about it was truly inspiring. You have so much wisdom and love to offer people. I pray that you continue to have the strength and love to share your story because it is so powerful.

    • Oh wow, thank you so much Kelli! I am so touched that you would take the time to listen. And gosh, what kind words. thank you for them – and for your prayers. big big hugs to you friend xo

  10. I loved the interview. I have similar “core” wounds and shame that I am beginning to work through now, though the symptoms are expressed in other ways, not an ED (though I could see how easy it would be to go that way given the type of pain and misperception of myself). Some of the things that were encouraging: 1) I forget the exact words you used, something about waking up every day and telling yourself, “I will love and take care of myself because Jesus loves and cares for me.” 2) Our wounds can either bring shame, or they can glow. 3) the story of your ED nailed to the cross.

All of those I need to press into in a parallel way in my life. I have only just barely begun the recovery. Every day, sometimes every minute, is a battle. A fuller recovery feels so far away. But listening to your interview helped me to see that I am on the right path: the sign on my mirror saying, “Today I choose life. I am beloved by the Father.” Telling Him my emotions even when I don’t feel His presence and the emotions are NOT pretty. Imagining His wounds when I’m tempted to torment myself with other thoughts. Believing that, if you only have a spoon to scoop water out of a bathtub full of water, it may take a long time, but, eventually, the bathtub will be empty.

Glad you share so much of your journey. There is hope in seeing someone 100 steps ahead. 🙂

    • Hi friend, thank you so much for taking the time to listen, and also for sharing your story. I’m sorry that we have that “core” in common, but I’m so glad you’re finding healing and moving forward. know that you are in my prayers as you embark on this new and exciting chapter in your life. Because that’s what you’re doing: you’re reclaiming you life and that is amazing and you’re a freaking rock star 🙂 i believe in you!!!! big big hugs xox
