I’m on the Radio!

Hey guys!

I’m back in Ohio! I booked another modeling job that shoots this week! So that’s exciting 🙂

So a couple weeks ago I shared that I was interviewed on the radio, and just this past Saturday, it was broadcast on the air!

I was interviewed on the UpDate program on KWAVE — “Your home for worship and the Word.”

It was such a wonderful conversation, and I was so grateful they invited me to come on their show!

So I’d love for you to take a listen. We talked about my story with anorexia, warning signs of eating disorders, my faith, being prolife, and the story behind my book, Bloom!

We talked about why I wrote the book, and how its interactive format is beneficial for not just sufferers and loved ones of those with eating disorders, but really for anyone facing adversity in their lives.

And as always, if you want to get your own copy, you can order one by clicking here.

So thanks for listening 🙂 It was a really awesome experience, and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you. (Click here to listen or listen below in player!)

And while I’m home here, I’m super excited to be able to hang out with my family 🙂 Last night we went over to my brother and sister-in-law’s house for dinner, and we had a torrential downpour! Seriously it was wild out there! We ate out on their (covered) back deck and listened to the rain. It was awesome.

And then I’m pumped because this weekend my other brother and his wife and two darling little girls are staying at the house, so it will be one big slumber party for Memorial Day! I think we’re even planning a family bowling tournament on Sunday 🙂

Not too shabby.

And honestly – I know it’s dorky – but when I get back to NYC, my FabFitFun summer box is going to be waiting for me 🙂 I cannot wait. I’ve been given a sneak peak at what’s inside and I’ll give you a hint….it’s my holy grail makeup brand. Yep TARTE is included in the box!! Ahhh!!! So freaking excited. And this box is valued at over $320 dollars, and you’ll get it for only $39.99 by using my code BEACHBABE for $10 dollars off! You can check it out here! I’ll make another video like I did the spring box 🙂

Right now, if you’re wondering…I just got finished stuffing my face after a long 12 hour day on set. And I’m watching a Hallmark movie with my parents. Yup – we keep the Hallmark channel in business, and watch their cheeseball movies even when it’s not Christmas 🙂 haha

But seriously, if only old school romance existed in real life like it does in these Hallmark movies 🙂

And one last thing – thank you guys for all of your feedback and viewpoints on Monday’s post about Netflix’s explosively controversial series, 13 Reasons Why, Season 2. There’s a lot of dark and disturbing things being thrown at us in the media. But we can choose to focus on the good, and keep our eyes and minds on Him.

What are your plans for Memorial Day?

  1. Heeeeeyyyyy. Easy on the cheeseball. How else is a hopeless romantic supposed to get his fix. 😉 Old school may be getting harder to find, but it’s still out there. Amen, sister. Keep your eyes focused on Him. The answer to all our problems. He’ll make a way in His time. Hope you have a great weekend! K

  2. I didn’t know it was a holiday. I was teaching. Everyone wanted to go to Ohio at work. I let them. Going to the other oh. Reno.

  3. Can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of you in all you do. is memorial day something to do with the armed forces if so the UK Armed Forces Day is in June/July time but we have a Bank Holiday weekend upcoming but I plan to spend it watching the Monaco Grand Prix 😂

    • Aw Benny, thank you friend. Yes! It is! Nice – enjoy! Hugs and love xox

  4. Congratulations Caralyn on booking that modeling job and for being on the radio. It’s lovely to read how you cherish spending time with your family with the hectic life that you lead. This past week my son graduated from 8th grade and my daughter will graduate from high school this Saturday. So I guess you can say that I’ll be spending time with my family this weekend just enjoying their company and thanking God for blessing me with all that I have. Thanks for sharing!

  5. This is such a great interview Carolyn and I enjoyed your openness about your anorexia and how; it wasn’t easy to open up to your family about it. One of the quotes I liked within your interview was when yo you said, “… we’re all recovering from something…” and it’s true, because no matter who we are, we are all recovering from something that either still “traps” us or has happened to us emotionally, physically, or mentally in the past.

One of the things that I have hard time opening up about to anyone is my addiction to pornography and it’s something I keep inside because for me, it’s shameful to talk about or even write about. However, I’ve begun at least to write down Scriptures that speak on this subject and pray about overcoming this.

    • Thank you so much for taking the time to listen! And thank you for sharing your story. You’re right – we all are on our own journeys, and there are obstacles and challenges along the way. I’m so glad you’ve been writing about it. I’ll definitely keep you in my prayers! Hugs and love xox

  6. Just listened to the entire radio interview and am so blessed by your story and God’s hand in your life. He is bigger than our obsessions and loves us beyond measure. Your bold testimony is evidence of that. Thank you!

    • Oh my gosh Beverly, thank you so much for taking the time to listen! I really appreciate your kind words and support. Amen to that – God is so so good. Hugs and love xox

  7. Just listened… Wonderful interview, you’re so inspirational by being honest about your journey. Sounds like special time with your family (beautiful home!) Enjoy!! xox

    • Oh my gosh Jenny Marie, thank you so much. You’re so awesome for listening to it!! Yes – My heart is so full right now to be joke with them 🙂 big hugs to you xox

  8. Kudos both to the interviewer and you! Her questions were so good, so perceptive. You handled yourself so well and gave her a great dialogue! Great that she brought in abortion. Your approach in your answer was perfect.

Her reference to Karen Carpenter hit me, because that was my era. I remember her suicide and the shock of it. She had an absolutely gorgeous voice, and I thought she was just beautiful. Of course, I was young and didn’t recognize the visible signs of her anorexia. I see pictures of her now, and I am so saddened to see her with clearer, more educated eyes. Was I and everyone else unable to see her clearly because we were blinded by false beauty expectations? Or just ignorance of the disease and its signs? If you’ve never heard her sing, you should find a recording on YouTube. She was such a loss to an entire generation!

That might sound selfish; “It was MY loss.” But it points to how much she was loved by everyone and either didn’t understand it, believe it, or accept it. It also indicates how much I and so many others grieved over the waste of such a beautiful person and talent. Her struggle was so much like yours. I thank God you were saved!

Memorial Day weekend; Julie and I will be driving to Manhattan for our second bite of The Big Apple – we’d had such a good time before! The Met and St. Paul’s near Ground Zero are definitely on the agenda. Unfortunately, we’ll miss the best part of Manhattan – you! Or maybe you’ll be back before we leave Wednesday morning?

Either way, enjoy your family time and have safe travels back to NYC!

    • Thank you Jeff! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen 🙂 yeah, Cathi is really skilled at her job – she made the conversation so easy!! 🙂 I actually don’t know too much about Karen Carpenter other than her tragic death. I will definitely be YouTubing her later today. It doesn’t sound selfish at all. In fact – that’s something I wish the writers of 13 Reasons Why would have included more in the show — how a death like that just ruins the loved ones – leaves them shattered having to pick up the pieces. Thanks Jeff – I’ll email you today when I have more info. I booked my flight for Sunday so that I could be back while y’all were still in the city. But I just found out yesterday that I am “on hold” for a big commercial shooting next week. So I may, unfortunately have to stay 😩 which I am heartbroken that i would miss you and Julie. But I will know more this afternoon and will email you! Thanks again for listening Jeff, big hugs and have a safe drive!

      • Well, selfishly I hope we can see you, BUT… A big shoot? I’d hate for you to miss a big opportunity. Jobs can be scarce for a self-employed person like you! Karen Carpenter: super singer, but also a talented musician. She was an accomplished drummer, but they never let her play on their albyms, because “girls don’t play drums.” However, she strong-armed whoever she needed to and did an incredible performance on drums for one of their TV specials. That’s on YouTube also. Once you’ve listened to her, you’ll love her strong contralto. Her singing is effortless! Listen to me going on! I’ll look forward to hearing from you. All the best!

      • Wow I’ll definitely look her up! Haha yeah, you’re right —- these jobs the last three weeks have been an absolute God-send, literally for my finances. I’ll keep you posted. 🙂

  9. Congrats on all the fruitful efforts! “May the graciousness of the LORD our God be upon us; prosper the work of our hands; prosper our handiwork.” (Psalm 90:17)

  10. Congratulations on another booking! Woohoo! For Memorial Day, we’ll be chowing down on hot dogs, pasta salad, and a few more goodies. Avoid the beach like the plague, haha! It will be a little cooler on Memorial Day (forecasted 82 degrees and gorgeous), so we’re hoping to to do a bike ride around our neighborhood.

    • Oh wow! Have an amazing time! I’ll be praying for you Jeff! Hugs and love xox

  11. I love that you have Ohio roots! I’ve done my share of living away when I was a bit younger but found my way back “home” as I started to settle down a bit in life. 😀

  12. Ohhhhh, you are speaking my love language with the Hallmark thing. I’ve been watching When Calls the Heart on Netflix lately and cannot wait to get caught up on the fifth season. Love it!

  13. Hello beauty beyond bones!
It’s great to see you’ve earned 37,000 + followers! Really very inspiring

I would just want to know if those are WordPress or email followers? Also how long did it really take?
    Thank you 😃

  14. Great interview Caralyn! The one thing I will say is that no sufferer should ever blame themselves for anorexia. We know from tons of studies that there is a genetic component to it, and that there are changes in the brain that result from starvation (so the brain, for example, decreases hunger, increases energy, increases satiety). In other words, the brain disincentivizes eating and incentivizes movement.

    • Thank you so much Thomas! That is a great point. Genetics is definitely a big part of it. thank you for your insight! Hugs and love xox

  15. Modeling, being on the radio, writing a book and spending time with your family…you write with such love and enthusiasm about all of these topics. I love reading your posts! Your words are definitely inspirational.

    • hahaha oh my gosh you’re so kind to say that. I am so grateful for your readership!! Hugs and love xox

  16. Hi there! Great job getting on the radio!! Yay!!

I finished my novel that I told you about–the one where the girl attempts suicide in the beginning–and I’m going to spend some quality time this week improving it, and then I’ll get organized toward finding an agent. Boy, I’d love to get published!

I’m glad you had a nice Memorial Day holiday with your family!! 🙂 Enjoy the huge box of makeup!! Sounds like a thrill!!
