Jussie Smollett: “Frauds are everywhere y’all.”

Well, if you’ve turned on the TV, or gone on the internet in the last 24 hours, then you of course have heard the name, Jussie Smollett.

Jussie (who’s real name is Justin…Jussie is a stage name) …

Jussie – an actor on the show: Empire, has been arrested and put on $100,000 bond today for allegedly filing a false police report.

That’s right – the horrific hate crime that he claimed to be victim of — he allegedly orchestrated the entire thing on himself.

Allegedly…he dreamed it up. Got the supplies. Hired actors to “jump” him. Filed the police report. Publicized it. Drummed up all this – (well-meaning, and well-deserved) sympathy and outrage. Went on Good Morning America and other news programs to fuel the fire.

And NONE OF IT WAS TRUE. Allegedly.

I mean this is disgusting. More accurately, it makes my blood boil.

And it’s multifaceted…so stay with me.

First of all: the fact that Smollett would allegedly use such an emotionally charged, violent, and truly heinous act of hatred and ignorance — one that sadly, many people have actually had to deal with, either personally, or to a loved one — what a frickin’ slap in the face. How insensitive. How just unfeeling to use such a despicable demonstration of bigotry to try and garner attention for your career.

Because that’s exactly what he was allegedly doing.

In addition to trying to create controversy and propel his name, He is currently promoting his music album.

Yes, you read that correctly. He’s currently promoting/touring his album.

It just reeks of desperation.

But here’s the other aspect of all of this that really gets me going.

He clearly was trying to villainize Trump supporters in this entire convoluted – alleged – charade.

The story that he allegedly painted – with his assaulters wearing MAGA hats – was a direct attack on the tens of millions of Trump supporters, who are good people.

Allegedly, he was trying to stir the pot to propel the narrative that all Republicans are homophobic, racist monsters that throw battery acid on people and tie nooses around their necks.

And time out – that specific imagery is such a horrendous symbol of the hatred, violence, and bigotry that plagued our country during the civil war. To use that most hurtful token as his narrative — inexcusable.

The sad truth is that hate crimes, are in fact, on the rise in this country, and sadly, there are people who have had despicable acts like that impact their lives. That is awful.

But to then craft a narrative that pins that base and awful behavior on a Trump supporter?

It’s garbage.

But I’ll hand it to him, he got exactly what he was allegedly looking for: Celebrities coming out in droves, not only to show their support and sympathy, but to also take this as an opportune time to drag Trump and his supporters through the mud.

When is this going to come to an end? Honestly?

It seems like just a few weeks ago, we were facing this same exact theme in the Covington Catholic scandal. And Charlottesville before that. And more recently the suffragette demonstration at the SOTU address.

I am so tired of the left and Hollywood, painting this false narrative that all Trump supporters are racist, homophobic, oppressive, and backward thinking barbarians.

It is a deeply held, and completely unfounded stereotype that is tearing this country apart at the seams.

And sure, there are of course, a handful of individuals on the right who are those things. But there are also just as many on the left who fall into those terrible camps as well. But to generalize an entire group of people based on a stereotype is wrong.

And the last thing we need, are cowards like Jussie allegedly staging indefensible propaganda setups like this, that not only disrespect true victims and loved ones of actual hate crimes, but also deepen the division, twist the knife even further, and try to promote hostility.

I think there is only one thing left to say, and I’ll leave it to good ol’ Jussie Smollett himself:

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Now is the time when we need brave individuals to set aside political differences, and come together to fight the real villain here: hatred and violence. We need heroes to step forward on both sides of the aisle, and join together to work towards peace, cooperation, and justice for every single person.

God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. Harmony starts with listening. It’s time we give that a try.

  1. #FraudsAreEverywhereYall You got that right! ALL this fraudulent activity needs to stop because if this keeps going NOTHING good will come out of this. EVERYONE doing wrong and those trying to do right will not win. Praying that between all this fraudulent stuff, we will know the truth.

  2. My brother and I are listening to a podcast right now all about this and other things involved with this. I agree with everything you’ve said! It also doesn’t help that this hoax will make us wary when someone who actually has suffered a hate crime comes for help! That’s why before anyone jumps to conclusions, you HAVE TO gather evidence and carefully look at that evidence. You can’t allow stereotypes to cloud your judgement and you can’t assume anything.

    • Thank you Rea. You’re so right!!! HAVE TO gather evidence. Amen! What’s the podcast called?! I’d love to listen to it! Hugs and love xox

      • We are listening to Ben Shapiro’s podcast on Daily Wire. I don’t think this is the only podcast that addressed this news story

      • I listened to that too. Though his stabbing at the “left” can be a little too much for my taste, Ben seems to be very good at examining the facts of a situation and I like his boldness and frankness in speaking out about tough subjects. He makes a good suggestion on another episode that all news should wait at least 48 hours before they report such things. This is just becoming too common.

  3. In Law it is of course dangerous to state that a a named person did such or so, however, in Law it is wholly permissible to state that you ‘believe’ a named person did such or so.
That media generally and as a rule consistently use that ridiculous word ‘alleged’, is laughable because, a persons stated belief is not questionable in Law.
    Check it out.

  4. The first I heard of this clown was this episode of surrealistic yellow journalism. And I didn’t care. The fact is I’ve taken this position: if it’s being reported in the mainstream media, it’s a lie until it’s been proven otherwise. The MSM has no credibility whatsoever. None. I’m sick of the Outrage Industry. I’m not buying their products.

The Left are like the ghosts in the 6th Sense: they only see what they want to see. When they look in the mirror, all they see “are racist, homophobic, oppressive, and backward thinking barbarians.” So they automatically assume that everyone else is too.

    • Yellow journalism for real! Thanks Matt for sharing your thoughts on this fiasco. Such a sad situation all the way around. Hugs and love xox

    • Smollett clearly had an agenda with his charade. And it ended up hurting a lot of people. And ironically, his career most of all.

  5. He’s a desperate, pathetic, despicable loser – makes my blood boil too and he will now impact credibility of others going forward, who’s claims are true but who will now be possibly doubted because if one person can make that up so can others and I feel bad for the people who won’t be believed if they are assaulted because of this guy being such a low life lair. He’s done so much damage its almost hard to calculate.

    • Thank you friend for sharing your thoughts on this. Yeah to say his acting career is over would be a gross understatement. Hugs and love xox

  6. Yes, it’s very offensive. I hope this guy destroyed his career doing this. Unlike with comedian Roseanne, who I think was genuinely doped up on Ambien and has true regret for what she said, I think this guy Smollett has no excuse whatsoever for his charade. And it is very hurtful to true victims of hate crimes. What did he think, that it would make him some sort of hero? [Facepalm.]

    • I think it’s safe to say he will never work in this town again. His actions were so disappointing. Hugs and love xox

    • Hey Ryan, thanks so much for your reflection. I agree! Where’s the love! I will join you in that important prayer!! Hugs and love xox

  7. This was well thought out. People went to judgement too easily and this is what happens. So sad that he did what he did though. False accusations ruin it for those that really need the help and support.

    • You’re so right about that Kathy. Quick, snap judgements do nothing but harm. THanks for stopping by! hugs xo

  8. I knew you would speak on this my friend! It’s very upsetting disgusting and disappointing. Who makes up something like this? I can’t even try to understand why. I believed some parts of his story but it seemed weird when you actually thought about it. Like who carried around bleach and a noose? Smh. Who will ever work with him or believe anything he ever has to say after this? Very disturbing. People are harmed from this very crimes he lied about everday. Thank you for talking about this!

  9. The thing that really makes me mad is he did this deliberately – knowing full well this would incite rabid racial hatred and whip up the (deranged) Trump hate crowd. That’s the real crime. But you’d never know that from the leftist media right now – they’re all talking about how terrible it is for the lgbt community and how he’ll have to answer for the false police statement and real hate crime victims have been let down and that his mental health is clearly an issue – I’m like COME ON! He’s basically deliberately set the country on fire with this stunt.. False flag hate crime like this is creating division and hatred where basically none existed before. Why can’t they see the scale of the damage they are doing? Sigh.

    • Hey Charlie! Yeah that is so true – such deplorable behavior. So damaging. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hugs and love xox.

  10. Very well said oh BBB. I heard excerpts from the lieutenant of the Chicago Police, and he ripped not only into Jussie Smollett but into the media and politicians who promoted this as truth. Oh yes. You should not chat with your attackers before AND after the attack. Bad idea. Yep! It backfired big time.

  11. I totally agree. I’ve also found, in my sixty seven years of living, along with being a survivor of severe violence and other abuses, that when people want to hate and hurt others, it doesn’t take much to set them off. Many times they believe that the other person deserves mistreatment. It’s a very sad, and very true reality. Thank you for having the courage to speak out on these issues. 😊

  12. The scary thing is that in his mind, Smollet DIDN’T villainize anyone. How he described his “attackers” is how he sees people who do not think and act and believe exactly as he does. He was being truthful to the vision in his head–regardless of how crazy and detached from actual reality that vision was.
Michael Knowles said that this is the logical end of the “your truth and my truth” mentality that we have today. It also explains why facts and logic do nothing to persuade people for the most part; if it’s not part of “their truth” it must automatically be a lie.
The only way to reach people is through the imagination, IMHO.

    • Thanks Nathan for sharing your thoughts. Ugh – I hate the your and my truth mentality too. It is allowing so much garbage to circulate. Hugs and love xox

  13. So tell us how you really feel!! Kidding of course, we love you. Spot on as always, but to be honest, I think most if not everyone smelled this for what it was from the start. I mean, seriously? Contrive every trope you can imagine to ignite the fire and pretend it really happened. I feel bad for the two brothers that got duped into doing it. At least they got to get a few smacks in on him. Take care,
    Scott

    • Haha thanks Scott. Yeah it was fishy from the start. So disappointing all the way around. Hugs and love xox

  14. You wrote something very important: “We need heroes.” It’s easy to say we’ve had it up to here with the hate, but another thing entirely to go to work, get our hands dirty, and want to actively be part of the solution.

Please allow me to paraphrase a C.S. Lewis quote I recently came across– “other than the Holy Eucharist, the holiest thing we see in all our human lives is our neighbor, because they are created in the very image and likeness of God Himself.” High time for us all to step back, exhale, join hands and truly work for a better world.

    • Amen! We need heroes so badly! Thanks so much for sharing that powerful quote. I will join you in that prayer for a better world! Hugs and love xox

  15. I’m no fan of The Left but regardless of what he has done and how much he detests me, I’m indebted to Jesus to pray for this fellow, that he will accept Christ and have his life turned around. I used to get a lot of grief for praying for President Obama bc ppl thought I was praying for his agenda. Instead, our pastor asks us to pray for all our leaders national, state and local but only that they seek His help and not depend on their own ways.

P.S. – last I heard, Smollett was back at work at the Empire studio.

    Fine article, btw.

    • Thanks friend, yes. That is so important to do. I will join you in that prayer! Hugs and love xox

  16. Smollett has the approved pedigree, Black, Gay. He went after Trump supporters. He might do some time. I doubt that he will. The Kavanaugh detractors have suffered no calamitous consequences. I think it is safe to say that Hillary Clinton will do no time. Will this fabrication hurt Smollett’s career? No. He will find work, make money. A little jail time will serve only as embellishment.

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this David. Hillary is out of the woods for sure. Hugs and love xox

  17. I wonder if he will be fired, or promoted. If he repents, complete with crocodile tears, will the msm back him ? You bet they will. In terms of free publicity for Empire, what a windfall. I think he will be welcomed back to the set with an expanded role and huge salary bump. OK, call me jaded y’all but, let’s be real, the man can convincingly lie. Just my 2 cents.

  18. ‘Now is the time when we need brave individuals to set aside political differences’.
We need the moderates and centrists in the debate, however they have been largely cast aside by the mainstream media and left to meander in dark circles on the web such as the IDW. Just my two cents.

    • I completely agree! Let’s bring them to the forefront! Thanks for sharing your two cents 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  19. Well, I’m glad you agree. Rational and logical discussion has been sorely missing from any of the majority mainstream media’s attempts to set tribes against one another based on who they support. There is no center portrayed in the media; it’s just you against them.

  20. This is all about racism of every type. It may be racism of skin color. It may be racism of politics. It may be racism of religion.

Yes, “prejudice” might be a better word, but let’s use “racism.” It’s harsher and uglier, but then that’s what is happening, yes? Someone is vilified for no other reason than wearing a MAGA hat. How different is that from abusing a person for skin color? It’s just as ugly and just as unjustified. I support Trump as president, but I don’t support everything he says or does. There are times I wish he’d leave his Twitter account alone. But if I’m overall in favor I might be branded something awful or even assaulted for it.

Let’s use “racism” because it’s a misnomer anyway. There is only one human race – that’s fact. There are different cultures and skin tones, but only one race. “Racism” calls out prejudice for being as ugly as it really is! Someone might be a political racist, religious racist or whatever, but a racist none-the-less.

Let’s call it racism so smug people of any group have to face their ugliness when they bash another group for ONE PERSON’s actions.

    • The prejudice and hatred is all around us, you’re right. Same here. I wish he let one of his staffers handle his Twitter haha. But you’re right – we can all learn a lot about love and tolerance because it’s true! One human race. How quickly we forget that 🙌🏼 thanks for sharing your wisdom Jeff! Hugs and love xox

  21. What Jussie Smollett seems to have done is wrong, but Trump supporters aren’t inncocent or good people. If you’re still behind that dirtbag enthusiastically that reflects badly on you.

  22. Thank you for weighing in on this subject with clarity and forcefulness. I admire you for speaking the truth as you understand it. You said this Smollett thing “it makes my blood boil.” I agree. You wrote, “How insensitive. How just unfeeling to use such a despicable demonstration of bigotry to try and garner attention for your career.” I agree. It seems unthinkable to me. What a sad commentary on a segment of our society. I hope it is not a growing segment!

    • thanks so much Jan. Yeah we need to pray for our country – it was a disappointing scenario all the way around. hugs xo

  23. There is good out there (here). The media are deliberately ignoring it. But God wins in the end – and many times before the actual end. Never give up hope.

    • Thank you so much Ed 🙂 Amen to that! God always wins in the end! that is a hope we can cling to! hugs xo

  24. You had me until you mentioned 45. I’m good with not hearing any more. That tells me everything I need to know about you.

Jussie clearly lied and made left leaning people like myself angry. Angry because it REALLY happens. Racist hate crimes happen every single day. People like you will be filled with fuel and self righteousness and the next time this happens for real and you will, *again* not believe black or brown people.

It’s sad. Maybe you probably should have written a far right conspiracy blog instead.
Like InfoWars, Alex Jones. You could make Tin foil hat swag for giveaways.

For the record, Jussie’s an idiot and should be prosecuted.

    Former reader of your blog.

    • Hi Melody, thanks for joining the conversation. The fact that these horrific types of hate crimes happen angers me too. To the core. We can fully agree on that 🙂 I’m not sure why I’m being generalized as someone who doesn’t believe victims, because that’s false. I *always believe victims, regardless of skin color or religion or sexual orientation or country of origin, etc. So I think that that’s a little unfair. And further to that, i have been sexual assaulted, myself, so i don’t know how that conclusion was reached. To be clear, I did believe Jussie up until today when he turned himself in for faking it. Not quite sure what conspiracies have to do with this, but thank you for your readership. I’ll be sad to see you go. Know that the door is always open for you here at BBB! Would love to have you back, welcomed with open arms! 🙂 💛 Hugs and love xox – Caralyn

  25. Great post. It is so upsetting what is going on out there in the world. I feel it all the time and now it is even interfering with some relationships in my family which is so sad. The level of hate is frightening. This past week I went to a family party and some extreme cousins of mine on the left were not open and friendly with me and my husband, you could cut the tension with a knife at that party. Because we wear crosses as a family and believe in God I feel some people (not all) look down on us and that includes some members of my extended family. I never brought up religion with them, nor politics but the hate I can feel from them every time a report comes out about the Trump supporters attacking someone is enough to scare me away from future family events. What is even more frightening is how all these reports of racist attacks from the left are turning out to be false, meanwhile people who are Trump supporters are being spit on, groped, punched, tied up and tortured …and the mainstream media barely covers that or not at all. People need to stop believing their little screens. Instead they should turn to their neighbors, friends and love ones and give them a hug and tell them they love them.

    • Thank you friend for sharing your heart. I’m sorry that it is interfering with your relationships. i agree – let’s share the love! hugs xox

  26. Close mindedness is not limited to politics, color or sex orientation. It’s interesting that, as you said, if you lean to the right, everyone assumes you are bigoted. Yet, for those who make that assumption is also bigotry.
Christians know it’s imperative to love all men, regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. That there are some Christians, who resist it, well, I see them as a work in progress. And… MP is correct hate crimes happen all the time and are not justifiable, but what she fails to realize is hate comes and goes in all directions as she well demonstrated. There is plenty going around out there but it’s not limited to whites as perpetrators, as we all well know. You responded kindly, Thank you.

    • Thank you Jolie for sharing your thoughts on this tough topic. You’re right – love all people! i appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to read! hugs xo

  27. Firstly, let me say I am a silent regular reader of your blog for a while now, just thought I’d comment on this one, and you’re doing a great job.

I have come to terms that leftist and the liberals don’t need much to go on an outrage because they think their agenda is being threatened, and with what we’ve seen with 45 and his time so far, they would go to any means to try making him the devil. There’s a saying where I come from – if you point one finger at someone, the other four will be pointing back to you. They claim the right are all sorts but show as much decadence in their character pound for pound as much as they claim in others. Someone should tell them to remove the huge log in their liberal eyes first, before trying to pick out twigs in the eyes of others.

Finally, no one is talking on the formerly accused brothers, whi they said are from Nigeria. Nigerians have been labelled the world over and it’s become a stereotype. Even Hollywood propagates it. Nigerians are going through their hell, both in and outside of their countries, and yet they’re being thrown under the bus yet again for no just cause. The same left the preach inclusion are the same set of people to sacrifice their values at the altar of hate. I think not just the brothers but Nigerians as a whole deserve an apology for this incident.

    J. A.

  28. Thanks for posting on this and bringing this to more light. Human beings are capable of anything. People like Jussie Smollett are just depraved. No concern for truth. Only concern is for making a name for himself. Playing the victim and race card. What the left is doing is so deplorable.

    • Thanks Kevin, for sharing your thoughts on this tough issue. it was disappointing all the way around, for sure. hugs xo

    • Yeah, it’s pretty mind blowing, isn’t it? What has this world come to? Thanks for stopping by! hugs xo

  29. These “false flag” operations are starting to become a thing. A year or so ago someone spray painted a bunch of homophobic and pro-Trump messages on a gay-friendly church in my area. It turned out to be the church organist who did it out of his hatred for Trump.

How sad is it when someone decides that “those people” don’t commit enough hateful acts so faking some more is the right thing to do.

    • Gosh, that is so disappointing to hear. What has this world come to?? thanks for stopping by, JP. hugs xo

  30. As ever a well crafted post.

The era of “me to” throughout the media will provide opportunities for fake claims, but we shouldn’t really be surprised. Today people tell lies because it works. The more outrageous the story the better, credibility and accuracy don’t matter because the reading and viewing audience don’t have the attention span. Therefore, the negative fallout is often short lived.

    Life moves on.

Sadly it is now common throughout the justive system to see the media try a case long before it gets to court, individuals are guilty until they can prove themselves innocent. Proving that the alleged perpetator is really starting without the impartiality required. Why? It is simple justice takes time but the media need a villian immediately.

This foolish young man didn’t look at the real consequences, he has hurt his reputation for a while, damaged an important civil libilities message and enhanced distrust of celebrity.

The proverb that comes to mind that the media could learn from is “never pass judgement until you have all the facts”.

My blogs on some subjects are brutal when it comes to false claims, however I really enjoyed your restraint and balance. The actor has some personal issues he needs to deal with. Society must find the desire to move passed the incident and put it down to a PR stunt.

    • Never pass judgment until you have all the facts – amen to that! I think that’s something that we can definitely all learn! thanks Mark for stopping by! hugs xo

  31. I didn’t know about the music album. This reminds me of a book I read, by Max Barry, called “Jennifer Government”. In an effort to drum up hype, (fictional) Nike hires an assassin to shoot some kids in line for their shoes, to give their brand some street cred. It was a fascinating read. The game is going to levels more and more depraved.

Where did this sickness come from? There is a plague of nihilism in a world that doesn’t care for or about God. In a world where nothing matters, there is no limit to how low we, as humans, can go. For a case-in-point, look at any Godless regime. Soviet Union: Mass murder. Cuba: Mass murder. Khmer Rouge: Mass Murder.

USA: Mass infanticide. But I digress.

Justin Smollett led a gilded life and it wasn’t good enough for him, and in our society the only people who are treated like unblemished lambs are people classified as victims. His calculus is only natural: If he can position himself into victim status, he can get anything he wants.

    Sickening.

    • You’re certainly right about that, Scoot – we need God, and majorly! -Amen: the abortion industry is gut wrenching. We have also become a society that glorifies victimhood as well, which is another topic entirely. thanks for stopping by! hugs xo

  32. There was an absolutely phenomenal show I saw on Broadway back in the early 1990s – The Song of Jacob Zulu. The music was the initial draw (Ladysmith Black Mambazo), but the story was incredible. A really nice black kid growing up in South Africa during Aparthied. He was accused of a crime he did not commit. Eventually, this incredibly good kid becomes militant and radicalized.

As a fat bald, north of middle age white guy, my image could be a poster child for a Trump supporting conservative. But, I did not vote for Trump. I didn’t vote for Hilary either. I didn’t really support either one. I voted Johnson in the hopes that, one day, there might be a viable third party alternative – fiscally conservative/social liberal.

But, honestly, incidents like this and the Covington Catholic kids, where the whole world immediately condemns anyone slightly conservative actually push me further right. Maybe not further right, but truly anti-left. But, you can see how people are pushed into certain ideologies.

Look at Jim’s comments above – “Trump supporters aren’t innocent or good people.” How can you paint nearly 50% of the country as guilty, bad people? There are horrendous people on the right. There are horrendous people on the left. They are individual guilty, bad people. But, for the most part, this nation is made up of great people across the spectrum.

Trump is this country’s president. Therefore, though I did not vote for him and though I may not like him personally, I have to be a Trump supporter. I want our nation’s president, whether it is Trump or Obama or Bush or Clinton (either one) to succeed for us. Had Clinton won, I would have absolutely been a Clinton supporter.

I would prefer that we view individuals. But, as an individual that falls into categories that so many have demonized – fat, white, older, male, Catholic, southern, Trump-supporting (by default not by choice), conservative leaning, north of a median income – when main stream media, social media, and even friends and family posts on things like Facebook condemn a group that I fall into, they are condemning me – pushing me away from them – from those individuals making those statements now directly about me.

Jussie Smollett’s actions, as presented now by the police, appear to have been intended (and actually did) serve to once again demonize so many in a group.

I wish we could find the good in individuals. As I finish with this comment, I am hearing a Todd Snider song in my head – Alright Guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGL-2Zg2bqw) . “I know I ain’t perfect but God knows I try.” I think, for the most part, we all (men and women alike) fall into this particular category.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, Jack. Yeah, I agree – he is our president, and it’s been so discouraging to see that people refuse to support – let alone respect – our president. And I agree – i wish we could find the good in people. Thanks for sharing that song 🙂 amen to those lyrics. hugs xo

  33. Good post, Carolyn. There is so much wrong with this situation on so many levels! Don’t really know what to say about these rushes to judgement. On a much more uplifting note, in PC and headed to dinner tonight with my daughter — at Grappa!!! Ted

    • Thanks so much Ted. Oh that little bit of news was just the uplifting nudge I needed after today’s news! I hope you and your daughter had a brilliant time at Grappa!! 🙂 it’s such a special place! hugs xox

    • Thanks so much friend. Yeah, I agree – it is just disgraceful what he allegedly did. I just got a news bulletin that his role has been written out of the remaining two episodes of Empire. So…there we go! hugs xox

  34. I definitely don’t agree by any means with what Jussie did and to throw in the MAGA was definitely wrong. This whole thing is unbelievable. All of the hatred and wrong doing though is not one sided. We all must stand up and do the right thing. The problem with the world today is so many think each side comes from a different place. We are all children of God and in the end this is what it is. The world can divide but He won’t. If we all think and believe that we would be much happier but as it stands, there will always be separation which brings with it all of the hatred and bigotry we see today. No one is greater than the other and if we could live like that, the world would be a better place. Much more Heavily.

    • Thank you so much Corrie. I agree !! Once we realize that we’re all children of God, and can set aside differences and find the common ground, the world will be a much better place! SO glad you stopped by! big hugs 🙂

  35. Goodness gracious girl! You taking me to church reading this stuff! I love it. There is so much truth here too. Great post. GREAT point. God Bless

    XOXO
    -Paul

    • Hey Paul! Hahah, thank you so much 🙂 Glad this resonated with you 🙂 hope you have a great Friday! hugs xo

  36. Both the police official who went before the press and the judge who Smollett appeared before are African-American and both condemned his actions in the strongest possible terms (although the Judge did say that as Smollett stood before him at that moment, he was presumed innocent). They realize the tremendous damage Smollett’s hoax has done to the African-American community, and without stating it, also to the LGBTQ community. Now, the validity of such allegations by actual victims may receive less support because in the back of everyone’s mind, from the press to law enforcement, they’ll be wondering if the alleged victim is lying.

    • Thank you James for sharing your thoughts on this. Yeah, it was so so damaging. I thought the judge and the police chief’s speeches were incredibly powerful. Such a sad situation all the way around. Hugs and love xox

  37. or those who chose to leave the European Union branded as racist or anti-immigration, and what ever else they say about us or being a Labour Supporter & voting Tory and being accused of supporting all their views. I vote for Labour in local elections but not national at the moment! I just don’t fancy having an Anti-Monarchy, Anti-Semitic & IRA sympathiser as Prime Minister

  38. News is about ratings, not truth – for both major outlets. The Trump hating is great for ratings so those story lines will be promoted until the Donkeys come home.

Social agendas have become so popular that companies (like Nike and the Kaepernick jersey) or individuals like Jussie are harnessing the momentum to get attention and make money.

Racism is an expression of hatred, hatred is a product of fallen sinners failing to love one another. The world wants to ignore God, but He alone supplies the heart change needed to end racism and replace it with love for your neighbor. If we really care about ending racism we must turn to God.

    • Sadly, there’s a lot of truth in that. ratings. It is an industry. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. big hugs xo

  39. You are right that frauds are everywhere’s. That’s why I try to be true and open with my walk with Jesus. My instagram account I have repeatedly use the not so glamorous pictures of me because it’s so easy to photoshop. I want people to see the real me but Experience Jesus through me.

    • Thanks Tabby. That’s so powerful! Keep shining your authentic light! 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  40. It’s a damn shame. Meanwhile, actual victims are now going to be judged when they come forward. What I really wish would end is people playing each and every side of the political spectrum for some kind of gain. America loses when this happens. We’re so divided.

    • Yeah it really is so disappointing all the way around. I agree. It’s time we start finding common ground. Hugs and love xox

  41. Nicely done. I don’t know where I saw it, but the Lord inspires me to say that hands that are folded in prayer stay out of mischief. Perhaps if Mr. Smollett had taken his plan to the Lord first, he might have done things differently. Let he courts deal with him. He doesn’t need any more light and air. I believe it was bleach that his alleged attackers threw at him, not battery acid. Post Civil War during Reconstruction was when the real racism started, but back then, people just shot people or worse. Grant is a great book by Ron Chernow, if you are interested.

  42. Carolyn
I completely disagree with you about almost everything but I still enjoy your blog and admire the way you graciously respond to people’s comments. You are probably saving lives with your open and honest approach to eating disorders.

  43. (Copy of my comment to yesterday’s story in The New York Times:)

“In all of this coverage of a hate crime hoax, while also acknowledging the rise of hate crimes in America, it should be noted that this incident is part of that rise, not apart from it.

“It was just as hateful for him to cast aspersions on Trump supporters as it has always been for someone to report that a crime was committed by an African American, when that was not the truth.

“Is it possible to come to a different conclusion? He hates Trump supporters.

“That may not be a crime, but it’s still feels like hate to those of us who support The President.”

    • Hi Gordy, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. The whole situation was so disappointing, all the way around. Hugs and love xox

  44. Great post. I’ve been a long time fan of Empire so of course I was shocked when I heard about the attack. As a biracial (Black) man, I was outraged. Then to hear that it was a hoax!? It set us back and it’s a disappointment.

    • Thanks so much Johnzelle. Yeah that was the same whiplash I felt too. A dry and then super disappointed when the (alleged) truth came out. So glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  45. I wouldn’t have know this young man if he was sitting next to me in a Starbucks before this. I can only say that I hope that whatever is troubling him – deep down – that he finds his way after this. Although I don’t know him personally, I do know a bunch of humans and so far, almost all of them have troubles. Some are self imposed and some are thrust upon them from forces beyond their control. I have learned one thing about people, most need someone’s help and guidance at some point in their lives. I hope his friends and his critics reach out and offer a way towards redemption.
Wonderful post – I read almost all of the comments – thank you for presenting such a dynamic conversation.
    Chris

    • This is a beautiful response to this whole situation, Chris. You’re so right. I pray that he find his way too. There’s a lot of hurt there. So glad you stopped by. thank you for taking the time to read my post and the comments, and for joining the dialogue with just grace and compassion! hugs xo

      • Thank you for your kind words. Sometimes, we humans just need the smallest bit of confirmation that we’re gonna be OK, faults and all. I hope he admits his mistakes and accepts the responsibilities for his actions. He should then be embraced and welcomed back to his profession without prejudice. Redemption is a powerful thing. BTW, your blog is wonderful! Wishing you always the best! C&C ^.^

  46. The little girl rolling her eyes lol. As disgusting as his false claims are he is getting the media coverage he wanted probably even more than he expected. He is pathetic for this, but the other issue arises from the media outlets that were so quick to jump on this type of story without fact checking. Let’s hope justice is served, meanwhile catholic high schoolers aren’t allowed to cheer in public without being hated on. It really show certain media outlets’ bias and hunts at a more sinister agenda.

    • Thanks friend, yeah we need to work on our fact checking for sure. such a disappointing situation all the way around. glad you stopped by. hugs xox

  47. Great article. Kinda shows how far leftist minded people are willing to go to create villains of Trump and his supporters. Trump has his own issues and he doesn’t need your help, Jussie. I’m frankly disgusted.

I get really upset when celebrities use their fame in politics to sway the masses. It would be fine, if they were actually talking sense, using truth. But you often find them peddling some leftist, liberal agenda.

    • Thanks, friend. Yeah, I wish people would use their platforms for good. Many do, but not all. hugs xo

  48. He wanted more screen time and this should do it. Many of the future views of Mr. Smollett will likely be behind a screen or parallel iron bars…

  49. I wonder if anyone actually sat and thought, what would make a person think they could actually get away with something like what Jussie did? The answer is real easy. What Jussie did is not a surprise. I feel that many in society have created the atmosphere for such shenanigans to take place.

Not only does most of the media not care about fact checking, neither do lazy easily triggered millennials who get their news from friends statuses on social media, memes, soundbites and excerpts that can be easily taken out of contexts, these are people who let their feelings and emotions be lord of their lives instead of Christ. People who despise truth and love lies. That is the world that we live in. That is the world Jussie lives in.

    Jussie simply carpe’ diem.

People are so easily triggered today that just about anything is called racist or homophobic without anyone actually taking a moment to get the FACTS. Oh Gucci made a turtleneck some found racist and people lost their minds (folks who can’t even afford a pair of Gucci socks called for a boycott) ridiculous and so silly it’s actually laughable if it wasn’t so irratating how easily millennials let fake news, images, and tweets trigger them.
We live in a world where a if person refuses to bake a cake for religious reasons they’re called hateful bigots. All of this kind of news and reaction to it over the years has created the perfect storm today for Jussie Smollet to be able to even think he could get away with his lie. When we allow ourselves to get bewitched and wrapped up in victimhood culture and identity politics this is the result of it.

Thing is, Jussie wasn’t the first to do this, he was the first to be publicly caught in an age where news spreads on social media faster than that Malibu fire. Spiritual warfare is going on. We would all be surprised the magnitude of other stunts that were more than likely orchestrated for political purposes that would make Jussie’s charade look like a cheap vaudeville act.

    • Lots of powerful food for thought here. Thank you for joining the conversation. I agree – spiritual warfare for sure. We’ve got to keep our eyes and our minds on Christ. hugs xo

  50. Don’t forget that Smollet was an activist for the Black Panthers. See the broadcast that Robert Reyvolt did last night… https://tctaunleashed.com/2019/02/25/incendiary-radio-w-robert-reyvolt-2019-02-24-rbn/

Also, we need to stop throwing the terms “Hatred” and “Racist” around so loosely. They’re buzz words simply put in place to shut people up about what is truly going on. “Hatred” is a part of being human out of natural emotion as much as “Love” is an emotion out of being human. “Racism” is a part of being human in order to maintain ones “Culture”, “Race”, and even “Creed” to a huge degree. Deny any one of these natural human traits is as good as denying that you are human, no matter what race, religion or creed.

Be the racist you must be; have the hatred you need to have; love as much as you can love; as long as it does not harm others. And when I say, not harming others, be careful about being with other races, in that it may become a form of genocide in itself.

People these days, think that hatred kills and injures. They also think that racism kills and injures. And they are right because of what the mainstream media and our governments world wide have done. But hatred once-upon-a-time before government got involved, served their very purpose, without harm.

When a person hated their neighbour, they went their own way; since the government and mainstream (lamestream) media, they kill or injure their neighbour. When a person was racist, in order to maintain their own peoples, a form of Apartheid was evident, where races stayed with their own, (albeit Apartheid was made to look evil by the lamestream media) but since the mainstream media and government, they destroyed and injured each other.

You all may want to think that all of us of different races, lifestyles and creeds can all just mix together and get along, but this is blatantly fabricated by the very mainstream media and government that have created the destruction between us all. When they diversified us, (even though diversity has a reverse meaning to what the government and media would have us believe) and then had us believe that “Hate” must mean to “Kill” and that “Racism” must mean to kill, we did exactly what they wanted us to do. We “Killed”, we “Injured”, we became “Non-Human”.

I could say a lot more, but I will leave it to you for food for thought.

    • Thank you for this food for thought. I believe that we are called to love one another, and we can all have that in our hearts, as we try to model Christ. I think that there are definitely people in the world who harbor racist and hateful thoughts, but I like to believe that the vast majority do not. I appreciate you joining the conversation. hugs xo

  51. These kind of things are so prevalent in Spain as well. There is a double standard when it comes to judging things done by the Left or the Right. The Right is always portrayed as the one who hates, who goes against the disadvantaged, who restricts freedom… When in fact it’s usually the Left who does all these things, and with total impunity. Christians are especially attacked and mocked.

Thanks for openly speaking about these political issues without fear of losing followers!!

    • Hi Paola, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I think you’re right about that – there’s a battle going on in the media, and sadly there’s an open hostility on people of faith. it is very sad. i’m sorry to hear this is happening in Spain too. hugs xo

  52. How quaint that you did not post what I had written here. It’s obvious you are one of those that just want to be ‘accepted’ by people, rather than do what is right. As I say on 107.9 FM, “if people keep doing things just to be ‘accepted’, just going along to get along; they will get along themselves to oblivion”. I will read what I wrote here yesterday on this Saturday’s broadcast and let them know you are in fact a typical leftist fraud.

    • I guess I’m in the dark as to what you are referring to. I had a busy weekend and didn’t get to all my comments until just now…..And a “typical leftist fraud?” Forgive me, I have no clue what you’re talking about.

  53. How crazy…so sad and disappointing. If the allegations are true, he has effectively ruined his career all on his own. He definitely needs prayer. And agree that this will make it harder for others that come forward with a similar experience as now there is a weariness of whether or not it’s true.

    • It really is so disappointing. Very true – I will join you in that prayer. Hugs and love xox

  54. I don’t know which is worse the fact that Smollett did this, that he has the audacity to say “frauds are everywhere y’all or Billy Eichner telling Trump and is supporters to burn in hell.
God bless you Caralyn for your fearlessness to stand up and be a voice for all.
    xoxoxox

    • Thank you friend, yeah so much disappointment around this story. Makes me sad to think about. Hugs and love xox

    • Thank you so much John!! I’m so glad it resonated with you. Hugs and love xox

    • Thanks so much William, I look forward to checking out your piece. Hugs and love xox

  55. And just like that the charges are dropped! We live in a very dangerous world right now! We all need to keep a close eye out! Praying!

  56. Again you brought me up to date on scandals I knew nothing of. I am using your posts to get current as I really don’t care to watch the news. So your posts are my compromise. I like your viewpoint in all of these posts. Thank you.

    • Thanks – yeah this was quite the scandal. Haha thank you for reading! Hugs and love xox
