Getting Super Personal!

Hey beautiful people!

Wow, what a day! Right now, I’m actually in Ohio! I flew in for just three days — I had a few auditions. And I’m already leaving tomorrow morning at 7am! YIKES!

But tonight, I wanted to share something really exciting with you!

Just yesterday, I was interviewed on the Adult Struggles Podcast!

I had a powerful conversation with Ashley, deep diving into my story. Her skillful interviewing led to really insightful questions that allowed me to open up about topics that I have never touched on before. It was a raw look into my mind, my actions, my emotions and environment during my anorexia, as well as recovery — and relapse.

This has the potential to be very helpful to friends and loved ones supporting people suffering from eating disorders, and if you agree, I urge you to share it with those in your network.

But this was one of my absolute favorite interviews, and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Because, yes – it addresses my story, but whether your life has been touched by an eating disorder or not, this conversation is sure to resonate with you.

In the interview, I briefly mention my book, Bloom. This resource is something that I wish would have been around when I was going through that time. It really offers the reader a unique opportunity to not only see that they’re not alone in whatever they’re going through, but that there is hope. And Bloom helps to open the door to transformation through deeply introspective questions and contemplations.

So if you’re interested in learning more about that…just click here.

Well, that’s enough of an intro. Sit back, pour yourself a glass of wine or a sparkling water, put your feet up and take a listen. (Or, if you’re like me…pop in your headphones and clean the house! haha)

And thank you again to Ashley for having me on your Adult Struggles pod!

  1. Caralyn, I look forward to listening to the podscast and hearing your story. Thank you for being brave enough to share it and to do so with grace and dignity. I enjoy reading your blog and learning more about you, and of course the delicious foods you create! You’re such a great role model for today’s young adults in how you are raw in your feelings, yet not emotional. You take time to process what you are saying and it comes through in your writing. I can learn from you there! πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing this. I just added Bloom to my list for next month. I look forward to purchasing it and reading it / doing the exercises. ~Shell

    • Hi Ashley! Gosh, thank you for saying that. It was truly such a joy talking to you – you’ve got a great thing going with Adult Struggles, and I was honored to be interviewed! My mom and I were listening to it today, and (after we both dried our tears and had a big hug) we talked about how a) AMAZING of an interviewer you are!! And b) how compassionate you were about my story. So thank you for creating such a welcoming and accepting space to share such vulnerable material. Keep up the great work on AS! I look forward to listening along on your journey! Hugs xox

      • Awww I love that you were able to listen to the episode with your mom! Talking through these difficult topics can be a little nerve wracking, because I always want to make sure the guest feels comfortable, and that we’re respecting the topic, so I truly appreciate you sharing that it was a positive experience!

      • πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— absolutely! Yeah I was home in Ohio for a couple days so the timing was perfect! Have a great weekend! Xox

  6. I haven’t finished the entire podcast yet, but I wanted to comment anyway. πŸ™‚ My daughter is 9 years old. She has Celiac. Until we found that out she didn’t grow for a year. God willing, she has been growing since we got the diagnosis and understood how to nourish her body. My son is 12 and he is just starting to understand how his body is developing and musculature. Both of them have made mention that they’re fat, and my daughter has said negative things about herself (not being pretty or smart) where she didn’t use to think that way about herself. My son has battled depression and anxiety. As parents, my wife and I do what we think is best in supporting and encouraging our children. It is good to know that there are resources for us out there like your blog, though. Listening to you talk about your struggle and how God played a central role in helping you to get to the other side, and how your family was there to support you…All of it is so encouraging. You commented in the podcast about being a middle school or high school student with the constant barrage of social media today. It is true. But what is also true is that the amount of stress, anxiety, and pressure that falls on parents as a result of social media is tremendous as well. And if I were to take anything away from your comments on the Adult struggles podcast, it would be that God is there for us and to rely on Him. So, I thank you for being raw and real and for being a messenger of His truth. I hope you have a blessed day!

    • Thank you so much Todd for taking the time to listen and for sharing your experience. Gosh, growing up is so tough – especially in today’s culture. Absolutely – knowing my worth in God and seeing myself through His eyes instead of this world’s eyes is what made all the difference to me. I cannot imagine what you and your wife must have to go through as parents, with everything. You’re up against the literal world. How comforting to know that God has already overcome the world and is a firm foundation to build a life upon πŸ™‚ amen to that – will absolutely be keeping you and your family in my prayers. Thanks again for listening and sharing your heart. Hugs x

  7. I’m so glad I found your podcast! As a person who really struggled with anorexia, I find it so warming to find someone who isn’t scared to open up about it. It’s a very controversial topic and I love how you embrace it as a part of yourself

    • Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m so glad it resonated with you and that you’ve embraced a life of freedom! Cheering for you, Warrior! Hugs and love xox

  8. Fantastic post. Congratulations on the auditions and the podcast interview! I’m looking forward to listening to it!

    • Hi Laura Beth! Thank you so much πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy it! And ooooh thank you for the reccos!!!! I am *always* on the hunt for a new goodie! Especially intrigued . by That Smart Hustle! πŸ™‚ have a great day! hugs xo

  9. Thank you for sharing your story. You spoke so candidly and compassionately, and gave me important reminders that eating issues and disorder are truly rooted in much more than dealing with foods and calories. God’s plans are so much bigger than what we conceive with our undertakings and resultant actions. Be blessed!
