I’m going to be honest – tonight’s post was supposed to include a video. However, YouTube wasn’t cooperating with me. After trying for 18 hours to upload a 6 minute video ((it kept getting stuck on the “processing” stage for hours…)) the video unfortunately is not going to be part of this post. So…quickly shifting gears into something that I am super pumped about…
SUMMER SKIN CARE.
As many of you know, I have undergone a mindset transformation, and I am no longer wearing a lot of makeup! I literally wear tinted moisturizer and nourishing mascara.
SO – in lieu of covering my skin with a bunch of makeup, I want my skin to be as radiant as possible, from the inside out.
ENTER: SKIN CARE
This starts by drinking lots and lots of water throughout the day, getting eight hours of sleep minimum, and protecting it from the elements that come with outdoor summer fun.
The sun and the heat can wreak havoc on our skin, so I thought I’d share my personal skin care tips for the summer. But here’s the cool thing — all of my favorite products ARE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED IN PRICE…why??? Three words:
Amazon Prime Day. I would not be sharing about it if it wasn’t off the chain.

Let’s start with the basics for summer: SUNSCREEN
I love this light weight, invisible sunscreen for everyday from SuperGoop. You don’t even know you’re wearing it…which is a miracle for facial sunscreens that actually work.
And also, I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention my hat…it goes with me everywhere. Literally. It has a UPF of 50+ and not to mention it is adorable.
I also recently got their visor for running…also UPF 50+. It’s cute and functional.
Next, I have recently switched my moisturizer to this powerhouse: M-61 Hydraboost Cream. It’s a night cream that can also be worn during the day. So I do…morning and evening. It is the “heavy lifter” in my skin care routine…prevents fine lines and wrinkles, and plumps the skin. Amen, sister. Amen.
A good eye cream is next on the list of essentials, and this one from Peter Thomas Roth is my latest craze. Not only does it instantly firm and smooth, but with continual morning and night usage, it works to reduce the appearance of fine lines. So BRING IT ON, PLEASE. And!! With the Amazon Prime sale, you get 40% off…which is crazy. I was just at Sephora today and they were selling it for $110 dollars (yikes!)….Talk about an internet bargain! Thanks Amazon!
Maracuja Oil is another STAPLE. This is literally always on my face. Honest to goodness. It is my second skin. Hydrates, nourishes, and reduces redness. Hallelujah.
Finally, my obsession with Pawpaw cream is undeniable. This is ALWAYS with me. I have a secret that I will tell you that revolutionizes your skin care game. At night, after you put on your eye cream, and before you go to sleep, slather this underneath your eyes. It has the consistency of vaseline, so think of it as locking in your expensive under eye cream, to make it absorb all night while you sleep. I also put it on my eyelashes to hydrate them, and I’m convinced it’s made them thicker and longer.
I started using pawpaw cream this way probably 3 years ago. And a makeup artist I have known for years saw me recently on a shoot, and she said, “Care…what are you doing to your undereyes? I have never seen them so hydrated?!” SO there ya go — It works people!
Next, my UpLift is another one of those products where I literally proclaim, “Where have you been all my life!?” when I use it. My Jade Roller is similar to this, but this bad boy packs a punch. It works with lymphatic drainage. The difference you see in the way it depuffs your face is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Bonus points for keeping it in the fridge so it’s cold when you use it.
These next products are “extras.” ~Special occasion items, if you will…like when I’m going out or on a date.
Eye Masks – I’m telling you, if I have a date, I am wearing an eye mask beforehand. I kid you not, I look like a different human being after 20 minutes in one of these…
Lip sleeping masks are a luxury I didn’t know I needed. This one is the bomb, plus it smells and tastes like berry cobbler. And for being from Laneige, it’s surprisingly super affordable.
Lastly — the MOST IMPORTANT skin care item…is your heart. Honestly, you can slather whatever you want on your skin, but at the end of the day…the only thing that matters is how you love others. Love God. And love yourself. True beauty radiates from the inside out, and all of this other “stuff” is just extra.
So there you have it — all of my skin care must haves. Prime Day this year is going to be incredible. It’s truly like Christmas in July. Wellll…I guess I don’t have much to contribute here. For some reason I’m remembering my theater days and Abolene cream to remove makeup. What else? Long sleeves and gloves for the long driving I do for work. Highs here this week all in the 90’s with heavy humidity. My best protection? Stay indoors! Have you ever heard of Bag Balm? Its original intent was to soothe the sore udders of milking cows, but farmers found it to be oh, so good for their chapped hands. It ended up being the chic moisturizer for very rough hands. Only in Ohio, I guess. CTK finally posted that sermon I told you about. Sent you the link earlier, in case you didn’t see it. I trust all is well. Sleep tight!

Going without makeup actually preserves the skin tone well into old age. Looks good on a woman too. I don’t have anything against those who do use it as its a preference but going without is better for the skin my wife tells me and I think it sure worked for her. 🙂
