Saving the Innocent

Hello friends and Happy Monday!

I’m so excited to share TWO things with you tonight!

First: tonight’s article is over on WINE Ministries! I am so honored to be a contributor for the Women In the New Evangelization ministry! So if you want to read tonight’s post called, “Saving the Innocent” – click here!

(I’ll also be answering comments over there, too! So I’d love it if you dropped me a line!)

SECONDLY — which was a complete surprise this weekend – But what a JOY to discover that one of my dear readers, Callie – from WineAndCheeseDiet, wrote an absolutely beautiful review of my book, Bloom!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_2724-1024x683.jpg

I was just so incredibly touched by her heartfelt reflection on my book, that I just HAD to pass it along. So THANK YOU, Callie, for writing such a glowing review!

And if YOU are interested in picking up a copy for yourself or a loved one, please click here!

Writing Bloom was something that was so near and dear to my heart. I wanted to create a resource that I wish would have been around when I was beginning my own recovery journey.

But here’s the thing: it’s not just for those in eating disorder recovery — nope. It’s for anyone facing ANY type of adversity in life: anxiety, divorce, loneliness, everyday stresses, loss of faith, depression, addiction — I truly believe that no matter where you’re “coming from” — there will be something in those pages that will resonate with your heart.

So there you have it, sports fans. Tonight’s unconventional blog post!

Tonight, you can find me watching the finale of the Bachelorette! (Is anyone else watching?) It’s a bit of a controversial season, with Luke P’s outspokenness about Christianity and chastity. I purposely haven’t written about it, but let me know if you’d be interested in a deep-dive on all the faith-centered scandals and headlines that have come to the surface this season. I’ve definitely got some thoughts!

Alright, well thanks so much for stopping by tonight! Hope you have a great week, and I’ll see you on Wednesday with a recipe!

“This is what the Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” Ez 37:5

    • Definitely lots of thoughts!! I’ll try and put them into a cohesive form and either do a post or a podcast!! Thanks so much!! Hugs and love xox

  1. Very pleased to see youre getting noticed. I saw you reply to someone on a previous post about getting a bit disheartened (easily couldve read wrong, e-vesdropping such as i was). Youve got a talent for what you do here and youre starting to be recognized for it. By their fruits ye shall know them! And youve got a wonderful community here that just keeps growing with you. Keep up the good work.

I close (almost) all my comments with AMDG, short for “ad maiorem dei gloriam”, or “for the greater glory of God”. What you are doing is absolutely for the glory of God.

    • Thank you Scoot! For the greater glory of God! I love that! I have always wondered what it meant! And gosh, thank you for your kind words. Means the absolute world! Hugs and love xox

  2. Your comment about Abraham talking his way down to ten with God resonated with me. “Will you please just get there?!?”

But aren’t we glad that God, Who knows where it will end up, patiently waited for Abraham to work his way through, to…discover his own path.

Unfortunately, the Innocent don’t have that luxury of time as blind or even evil people continue to end their lives before seeing the light of day; before they even know they should have had a path to find for themselves. I don’t approve of abortion. Never have. It’s just another name for murder in utero. The only thing I can take comfort in is that I know God loves children, and I believe that He welcomes all of those poor, murdered Innocents into His arms, however sadly He welcomes them.

Thanks, Caralyn as always for so much to think about!

    • Thanks Jeff!! You’re SO right about that — God waited patiently for Abraham to work through it – just like He does with us! Such a comforting thought. And you’re so right about that — God welcomes them into His strong, loving arms and doesn’t let go. I appreciate you taking the time to read it, Jeff! Hope you and your girls are having a great week! Hugs and love xox

  3. You are SO Lovely, outside and IN. And how cool that we both used the same Bible verse today in our posts–the Lord is Present, and still stirring dry bones. God bless you!!!

    • Aw thank you so much! Haha gosh – what a kind thing to say!! Means the world! Thanks for taking the time to read it! Hugs and love xox

  4. Ive never watched the Bachelorette. I don’t really like reality shows but I’d still like to hear your thoughts. I will check out you book Bloom very soon ❤🦋🌻🌞

    • Thanks Lane – I’ll work on putting my thoughts together for either a post or a podcast!! Thanks so much my dear friend 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  5. Congratulations on the great review!

I have to confess that I haven’t watched The Bachelorette or am familiar with the scandal surrounding the show, but I’d be interested in hearing!

  6. I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on this season. I have many conflicting thoughts about Luke P and the shaming that occurs, but also I do respect his decision of chastity as a Christian!

    • I agree – right there with you!! So many mixed and conflicting thoughts. Kind of a heart in the right place/poorly executed kind of thing. I’ll work on getting my thoughts together for a post or podcast! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  7. You have such a sweet way about, Cara. I want to write about my conversion from an Charismatic Evangelical Christian to Orthodoxy but I don’t know how to do it without sounding like the hysterical girlfriend in a bad break up. I want to write about what I think is the real reason why Shade O’Conner converted to Islam & why, Joshua Harris’ life imploded to the degree that he no longer considers himself a Christian. There is SO much going on that Christian voices DO need to be heard. Write about Luke P.

    • Aw, thank you Melissa. 🙂 I will definitely put my thoughts together for a post or podcast. There are so many conflicting feelings about the whole situation. And on such a huge stage for the world to see. So many thoughts. You’re right – there’s SO MUCH going on. I appreciate your kind words and friendship!! Hugs and love xox

    • Hi Melissa,
I would love to hear your story. My sister got caught up in a Charismatic Evangelical group and consequently has been estranged for over a decade. It would be edifying and informative to hear about your path out. I will follow you in anticipation!

    • Thank you so much Vanessa! Oh my gosh, what a kind thing to say 🙂 I appreciate you stopping by! big big hugs xo

  8. I love the fresh perspective on the “negotiation” between Abram and God and the conclusion of God’s unequivocal value of every single human life. This message, as is true of so much of what you write, is one that needs to be heard with the heart.

    • Hi Beverly! Thank you so much 🙂 Yes! Isn’t God’s Word so powerful in what it reveals to us! It’s a love letter to us from our Heavenly Father 🙂 Very touched by your kind words. hugs xo

    • Hi friend, thank you so much for your kind words!!! and awesome! i hope you love it as much as i do!! 🙂 so glad you stopped by! hugs and love xox

  9. The prayer of Abram teaches us that he was a true humanitarian. Of course we all know that the biggest reason he pleaded with God was because of Lot. God knew it and chose to spare Lot, based on Abram.
However generations later, Lots descendants were the persecutors of the children of Israel (Abraham’s descendant).. You think God didn’t know? Wouldn’t have the suffering of the children of Israel been eliminated if Lot was destroyed with Sodom? Yes… But the fact remains, Lot was innocent.

And there is the operative word you hit on Care – Innocent.

Why should an innocent life pay for the sins of the parents?
The fact that the world thinks it should, sickens me.

    • So fascinating. I was unaware of that!!! thank you for enlightening me!!! Even MORE powerful!!! big big hugs xo

  10. Ok took me a day to get to this but was worth reading. Your thoughts are as always succinct and based on God’s Word. Those who oppose will one day know the truth. Hope when that happens it will not be too late for them. And women’s right? I wonder how many infant women’s lives have been taken due to very horrible choices. Only hope is God forgives and heals. Thanks for your thoughts. Makes an old guy more confident of the future with you around. John

    • Thank you so much John for taking the time to read it! It seriously means so much 🙂 amen to that – a female in the womb is just as deserving of those women’s rights! Hugs and love xox

    • Haha oh gosh you’re right, that would definitely be some adventure!! Hugs and love xox

  11. Truly enjoyed this article and your insight. I shared on my page … so thanks. It is not the audience you have, but my little slice of readers I know will enjoy and maybe even connect with you directly.

It is also a reminder that the world (the editors in this scenario) will put forth what they want others to see. And this may not always be flattering. So as believers, this is why we need to remain vigilant and graceful always … so others see Christ in everything.

    • Hi Todd! Thank you so much for you kind words and for passing this along to your readers!! big hugs to you xo
