Happy Independence Day!

Happy Fourth of July weekend, friends!!

I’m literally in the back seat of a rental car – middle with my feet on the hump 😂 – and I’m headed to upstate NY with a couple friends for the weekend! The windows are down, music blaring, and we’re ready to celebrate America!

We’re going to be grilling, hanging out, and just enjoying a little time out of the city at an AirBnB!

So I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a happy, healthy, and fun Independence Day!

Freedom definitely has a greater significance this year, with everything going on. And it really makes me grateful for the liberties that we have in this country and as individuals.

I think especially during quarantine, it made me appreciate our freedom to worship. I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited to be able to get back to physical church on Sunday! I’m a little nervous but more than anything I’m just thankful to have that ability again.

So anyway, I’ve got to get back to the car’s DJ duty, but I wanted to just check in with my favorite people 🙂 And if you want to join along, I’ll be sharing photos of our adventure on Instagram, (@beauty.beyond.bones) so I’ll see ya on the Gram!

What are your plans for the Fourth of July? Also — what are your favorite BBQ recipes?!

God bless you and God bless America!

  5. I don’t know about the 4th of July, but on the 5th of July, I’ll also be going back to church for the first time since the pandemic began. It’ll be different–face masks, 1/4 church capacity, no altar servers, etc., but it is the “new normal” for now.

    • Oh that is so exciting! Yeah the new “normal” will be a bit of an adjustment but how exciting to be able to get back to church! Hugs and love xox

  6. it seems this year we need to fly the flag stronger than usual, glad to see NYC was chastised for religious discrimination and hypocrisy, I’m not religious, but anyone who understands history knows that this country was founded for religious freedom as one of the pillars, freedom to have religion, or be free from it, real choice with no govt interference, we may need to fight for it all over again, I hope not. There was a time my northeast bias upbringing would be offended by “god bless america”.. I’m glad I wised up and can accept that as a good thing even if I do not share the same beliefs, I share this country, and I share freedom, and want to continue to do the same. have fun, upstate is soooo nice this time of year, I have an account in cross river which is a super cool area (not quite totally upstate) but I also love Saratoga…. what a town… and Cooperstown… ah.. I could go on and on… lol

    • You’re so right about that David! We need to cheer on America now more than ever. Hugs and love xox

  7. Happy Independence Day to you, dear Caralyn 🙂

May we also all have a happy Dependence Day in Him, as I never would like to be independent from Him and what would it be like if we all are independent from ourselves…?

In this happy Independence Day may America, USA and elsewhere overcome rassism, hate, difference and include instead tolerance and respect to man – if this is the case it would be a great feast for all mankind, an Independent Day based on human compassion and positive values.

Thanks for sharing, dear friend Caralyn
    Be warmly hugged
    Didi

  8. My plans are very questionable, since everything is shutting down again here. I have a friend who is going to have a few people over and be very careful, so probably that.

    • Hi Greg! I hope you have a great time with your friends! Have a lovely weekend! Hugs and love xox

    • Thanks so much Veronica! I appreciate that! Hope you have a lovely weekend as well! Hugs and love xox

  9. Happy 4th of July to everyone South of the 49th. Enjoy the holiday safely. Canada Day was interesting here this year. The only fireworks we had were the ones set off by neighbours at 2 AM.

    • Thank you friend! Oh wow that’s late!!! Hope you had a great Canada Day! Hugs and love xox

    • Thank you so much Alan! Amen to that – we have so much freedom to be grateful for! Hugs and love xox

  10. In the Twin Cities, I’m going out with friends today, July 3rd, for a noon picnic. I’m making a snack cake from the recipe posted on my blog, tomsbrightideas.wordpress.com. I’ve never made a bbq sauce. There are a few places around here that have excellent BBQ. One is Mavericks (mavericksbeef.com/menus), Aesop’s Table (Aesopstable.com/menu/bbq), Ted Cook’s (tedcooks19thholebbq.com African-American owned), to name a few memorable places. If you ever get over to the Twin Cities let me know.

    • Oh that is so fun! I hope you have an awesome picnic! Yummmm! I certainly will! I have family from St. Paul! Hugs and love xox

  11. As usual, great post! I hope you enjoy your weekend! I’ll be going out of town as well. I leave tomorrow! Yey!
I do have one rather unusual request. I hope you don’t mind, but since I don’t have a blog yet, I would appreciate it if I could use this spot to make a request… (if I’m being to presumptuous, just don’t post my comment and I’ll understand.) Well here goes… My 80 year old mother used to be a third grade teacher and she wanted to know if there was a way that I could find out info about any of her students. So, if anyone out there was taught third grade by a Miss Ane Jurisich at Jefferson Davis in New Orleans, LA or by a Mrs. Ruli (her married name) between the year 1961 – 1966, she wants you to know that she still cares about each one of you, and she remembers your names. She wants you to know that you have had a lasting impression on her over the years, and she hopes that you have each gone on to live happy, fulfilling lives. Miss Jurisich/Mrs. Ruli still prays for you all.

    • Thanks so much Joy! Oh that so fun! Safe travels and have a great time! Interesting! Hugs and love xox

  12. regarless of what is happening around us take the time to enjoy this important day

  13. Sounds like you’re going to have some well deserved fun!
We like to stay home, nothing grand, just relax and blow up little bits of our lawn (like our founding fathers would have wanted—lol). Our biggest tradition is The War: http://almostheroes.blog/2020/07/01/the-war/
This year, The Enemy takes the form of tiny dinosaur-like aliens (my son’s idea).
Be well, enjoy your Independence Day!

    • Happy Fourth Amanda! oh that sounds like a fabulous evening of relaxation and productivity! 🙂 Hugs and love xox
