I’ve got to say, I have never been so completely disappointed in our system of government than I am after this week’s Senate Judiciary Hearings for Amy Coney Barrett. More like, a witch trial if you ask me.
The democrats on the hearing board have done practically everything short of throwing actual stones at this Catholic mother of seven, and boss babe, ACB.
Her entire hearing so far, has been one big effort to defend herself against slander, bullying, cruel, and downright ignorant jabs. She’s had to defend her family, after she was called into question for being a “white colonist” for adopting two Haitian children. Her faith has been ridiculed and frowned upon, arguing that, because she is a woman of faith, it renders her unable to fairly judge. She’s be questioned as to whether she is a racist. She’s been grilled about her prolife beliefs. It’s been nothing short of bullying, to be honest. Nothing she hasn’t dealt with before — if you recall in 2017 when Dianne Feinstein grilled Barrett, saying that “the Dogma lives loudly in you” — which, of course was cause for concern, according to Feinstein.
And the media has been not only backing up the attacks, but Webster’s dictionary even went so far as to change the definition of the term “sexual preference,” after Amy Coney Barrett used that term twice in her hearing. The media was quick to change what had been a completely politically correct term, to now be deemed bigoted, outdated and offensive.
She’s been called “clueless” by Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post. And Barrett’s proclamation that she believed in the “power of prayer” in her opening statement was met with an outcry of ridicule, mockery, and aggressive remarks on social media. Which — after the hot water Twitter has found itself in today surrounding their censorship of the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden and what was found on his recovered laptop — it’s no surprise that issues of faith and morality are met with cyberbullying and threats.
But that’s not really what I wanted to talk about tonight.
I want to talk about the grace that Amy Coney Barrett has demonstrated throughout this entire bloodbath, and how, I believe, she’s being blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
When asked about what materials she was using to rebut all of these attacks and defend herself, she merely held up a blank sheet of paper. The entire hearing was drop-jawed, as the senators on attack had binders and notebooks full of notes, from which they were using to try and pull a “gotcha.”
Wisdom. Understanding. Counsel. Fortitude. Knowledge. Piety. And fear of the Lord.
Those are the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, and how, I believe she is channeling all seven of them. The media are calling her grace under pressure her superpower. I call it, being covered by the Holy Spirit.
She has shown tremendous fortitude, being able to withstand personal attacks on her faith and family – never wavering or denouncing that which she believes. And it is no doubt that the combination of her wisdom, understanding and counsel will serve her greatly, if, God willing, she become a Supreme Court Justice.
And, call me dramatic, but I think the overwhelmingly caustic and aggressive response to Barrett’s impeccable –and divinely-granted– strength is a glimpse into the full-scale, all-out war of good and evil. And, pause: NO, I AM NOT CALLING RADICAL LEFTISTS, OR ANYONE IS DISAGREEMENT WITH ACB EVIL! What I AM saying, is that acute backlash against matters of faith proves that there is darkness on the prowl. Any mention of Jesus or God is slammed down with a hammer, and, as it has been evidenced, all the powers-that-be in government, in the media, in our culture echo its suffocation, mockery, ridicule, and denouncement.
Let us take a page from Amy Coney Barrett’s book, and call upon that power in prayer. And pray, not just for the continued perseverance and strength of Amy Coney Barrett, but for our nation — and world, at large — because clearly, there is an enemy who does not want Christ to win. There is a force of darkness that wants nothing more than to snuff out Christ’s light. But praise, God, that is impossible, because He already won.
Lord, pour out your protection on your children, and defend us against such wickedness. And equip us with the tools necessary to defend ourselves, and protect our hearts and minds.

So as a person on the political left, I have a few thoughts about this. I have no problem with a religious person being on the court (although I think we should be realistic about the blowback an athiest would receive as well, or say, a Muslim. Most of our elected officials are Christian, so it’s not the strongest argument that Christians are a persecuted minority here.)
I do think Democrats should be careful about appearing biased when questioning her about her faith specifically, as there’s a pretty bad history of anti-Catholic bigotry specifically in the US. I would rather hear if she can impartially make decisions. That can and should be questioned, everyone who is nominated to SCOTUS should go through this process. We need to see if they are fair.
Her faith is not an automatic disqualifier to me at all, any more than anyone else’s would be. Unless it became very clear for some reason that she would not be impartial. We all have belief systems of some type, even those who claim to have none. I have seen judges say “I believe in X and also my personal beliefs don’t change how I read the law” and I think that is the most fair interpretation we can ask of anyone.

Agreed, politics is much too ugly these days, we should be able to discuss without being awful to one another. A little courtesy goes a long way. I am personally worried for the US. I think it is getting harder for people to see those of other groups as human.
I think part of the issue is we are often not talking *to* each other in those settings but talking for an audience (the cameras or Twitter, etc). In that case it is easier to sacrifice the person in the room because it’s funny or a good show for the people watching or reading, even if it ruins the relationship. It’s a bad trend imo.

I’m not watching the hearing. I presume this charade of a confirmation hearing would be as much an affront to my sense of right and wrong as the Senate GOP’s behaviors around stalling the Garland hearing for 9 months in 2016. The fact that they can so blatantly reverse course without any sense of shame mere weeks before an election makes me question the values of their followers/supporters.
If I don’t question their values, I’m left only with the assumption that they are simply too dumb to notice what’s going on…and I don’t like to simply assume the worst.

ACB is unquestionably a class act. I feel bad for her that she has had to endure what she has had to endure. The blame lies at the feet of Mitch McConnell, who should have given Merrick Garland a hearing four years ago. But I smile that ACB left Feinstein frustrated 🙂 . The questioning of this woman was appalling. The implication of racism when she is the mother of 2 black children should never have been brought up.
She defended herself with a grace and composure we should all hope to achieve. I for one will celebrate when she is confirmed and able to put this ridiculousness behind her.

The whole thing is a disgrace in my view. “For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world but loses his soul.” It is very hard to walk away from something we dearly want, when we know it is the wrong way to go about things. If God wants Amy Coney Barrett in that position, I am quite sure he can do it, whichever party is in power following a legitimate election.

Agreed. I am a liberal, but I am disappointed by the treatment of this woman. I disagree with the Senate going back on their decision to not let a sitting president who is about to leave office make the nomination for the Supreme Court, but I do not agree with the treatment she is suffering at the hands of those in power. She certainly is poised and wise. The fact that her children are sitting behind her and the nature of some of the attacks shows the leftist senators have no sense of propriety. The fact that she and her husband adopted two children out of poverty after they had children of their own speaks volumes to me.

I haven’t watched nearly all her testimony, but I’ve watched some YouTube clips as well as read articles. Like you, I was amazed that “sexual preference” has now been re-defined as sexist.
I find more and more occasion to refer to this passage from Isaiah 5 – Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Are those attacking her evil? You say no and refer to the darkness prowling in the world. I’m reminded of M. Scott Peck’s book, “The People of the Lie.” It’s a study of evil based on his years as a psycho-therapist and some of the cases he’s dealt with. A man of faith, he’s also been around a few exorcisms. Evil comes from Satan, described in the Bible as the Father of Lies, and Jesus referes to his children who propagate Satan’s evil in the world. Peck cautions to use the label “evil” carefully and selectively. We’re all sinners. However, people who engage in systemic – not occasional – lying truly are evil. The sow discord and cause harm, which is exactly what is happening in the hearings.
I sense a hesitation in your article to call the people involved in her “burning” evil, and I understand that! Have I misread you? As hard as it is with the criticism it generates, sometimes we just have to say if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

She’s done an amazing job of holding up under pressure. I was so pleased with that blank page she held up, mostly because I am not a note taker. I have actually been pressured into taking notes for appearance’s sake and I’ve always felt rotten about it There’s nothing wrong with notes! Amy is showing the grace of a TRUE christian under pressure. She is a blessing before many as our Lord was as well and was treated basically the same! May she continue to stay strong against all who try to crucify her good work. Exactly whilst judges are human and subject to the same biases as any of us, they need to be able to make legal decisions in a logical and clinical way, regardless of personal beliefs. I enjoy listening to judges discussing the way they’re make decisions. I have listened to several talks given by judges. I was listening to a brilliant discussion between Justice Scalia and Justice Ginsberg who despite their political differences, were good friends. I think it takes considerable courage to be a good and fair judge.
I do agree. That is why i am thrilled that she is an originalist and respects and upholds the Constitution, arguably better than many already appointed! Hugs and love xox

Your comments are spot on. As a practicing Catholic I find it refreshing to see a women of deep Faith stand by her beliefs under intense scrutiny. The Pro Life movement is a sacred tenet of my Catholic Faith. If Biden wants to run on a Pro Choice platform so be it but don’t celebrate your Catholic heritage as your can’t have it both ways. Judge Amy rocks & I do believe as you so eloquently said it that the Holy Spirit is at work here.

Very well said! I totally agree with your perspective. I have only watched a short clip of the confirmation hearings because I knew this is exactly how they would be. Thankfully, God is on her side and so many people are praying for her. I have been praying for the Holy Spirit to give her wisdom. Many in the prophetic community have prophesied she is like a modern-day Esther that God is raising up “for such a time as this.”

What does everyone commenting positively on this thread think about Amy Coney Barrett’s refusal to condemn the policy of separating young children from their parents? How is this in line with anyone’s religious faith (regardless of what that faith is)?

However, I would like to respond and say that it’s not “traumatizing” with quotation marks. It’s *actually* traumatizing, when you separate kids from their parents and lock them in cages.
And it’s not a “gotcha” question, to ask someone whether they think locking kids in cages is wrong… unless someone’s embarrassed of their answer.

Thank you – absolutely I welcome a dialogue. The quotes were merely to cite what you had replied with. I question the validity of such biased news sources. The splitting up of families was started during the Obama era and the photos that these stories use are of the Obama area. Is locking children in cages wrong? Yes, absolutely. But that is not a trump era practice. It was Obama.
That was a witch trial? Really?
Why, because she was constantly asked to explain things which everyone clearly knows are true, based on her previous writings and associations? The Democrats let her off the hook in my opinion. The one question that should have been asked of her straight away was “Judge, do you believe that if Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell and the Federalist Society were not all absolutely, positively certain that you would vote to overturn Roe V Wade, that there is ANY way that you woiuld be sitting before this committee asking to be confirmed for life to the Supreme Court?”
Why not just say, “i understand that to be true. I am not naive.” It’s not as if that would lose any votes for her in the Republican Senate. If she denies that however, or refuses to answer it, then she is lying to the Senate and to the entiree American people. The Democrats never forced her to make that decision.
Democratic questioning had not a thing to do with her Catholicism. Biden is a Catholic for crying out loud. He may even be personally against abortion for all we know. But if he is, he is smart enough to know that you do not impose your personal views on the American public, and particularly you don’t when a significant majority of the American public is in favor of a women’s right to choose.
Mark my words. The vote to confirm Judge Barrett will just further fuel the backlash against the Republican Party, and will contribute to the election of Democratic state majorities in many states, perhaps even in Texas and Florida. Because the fact is, he is not in good standing with the Church. He is being denied Communion. Granted, I’ve mostly just been watching clips of the hearing posted by right-leaning sites, but I’ve been really impressed by what I’ve seen and heard, how she has handled herself professionally and stayed composed. And Kamala Harris came across looking petty and passive-aggressive, like one of the Plastics from Mean Girls… but I’m not at all surprised at that.

I have been reading and following your blog for quite a while and agreed with and enjoyed it because of your honesty, your life story and the lack of politics. I am a Canadian so try not to voice my opinion on American politics. My mother was American but became a Canadian citizen when she married my father. I have family and friends in America and pre Covid used to spend 4 or 5 months a year in America. To her last day on this earth my mother was American at heart and believed that The USA was the most powerful nation in the world. She would be heartbroken to see what has become of her country; racist, bigots, White Supremists and Conspiracy Theorists abound. My mother was a Christian as am I. I choose not to advertise which church we attend because my religion is personal to me and not something I write about. My husband and I watch world news; Canadian, American (both Fox and CNN), British, etc. So I believe we are fairly educated on what is happening in many parts of the world. My opinion of the hearing is that those who choose to see it as bullying or witch hunting will do so. Others who choose to see it as Amy Coney Barrett not explaining her previous rulings and opinions will also do so. It would be in your best interests as citizens of what used to be the most respected country in the world to do some more research in to ACB’s rulings and writings.

I understand your dismay at watching what most people would find a harrowing experience. In my experience most judges are well able to stay calm throughout worse cross-examining – occupational hazard! The picture of the blank pad made me laugh because yes, it illustrates she’s handling within capacity.
America is at a tricky point, will she be instrumental in overturning the abortion rights – possibly. Will this change to US law represent the majority view of American people – uncertain, but possibly. Regardless of whether the rest of the world views this as a violation of human rights, laws are a contract between society and government stating how we agree to live together. They should represent the majority view unless there is a damn compelling reason not to.
My only quibble about this appointment is a question of fairness. A judge has to apply the law evenly to all, regardless of background, gender, race, belief or any other protected characteristic. The law applies to everyone the same – yes?
To accept this appointment now when the same situation was judged differently last time an appointment was needed in election year, raises questions in me about whether she will indeed apply the law evenly. She had the right to decline. It would have been an awful position to be put in – who wouldn’t want to achieve the top rank in their profession?! But by accepting, she is benefiting from a one rule for her and another for other people. That to me is deeply troubling attitude for a judge.
I’m just amazed anyone wants these jobs anymore. From day one radicals will commit themselves to making your life a living hell. No one is immune- ask the mayor of Portland who had to move as the mobs set fires at his condo.

Regardless of where you stand on ACB, the lack of true faith and a belief in a higher power is truly what is at the root of the problems not just facing the US, but the world. And ridiculing someone for having such faith just exasperates the problem.
We all need to unite with positive energy in order to combat the negative, and that can not happen until we all accept each other for who we are, faith or no faith, without ridicule. No one is better than the other, we are all equal. Bottom line, we need to have true compassion for our fellow man. After all, we’re all in this life together, aren’t we?

I find it odd that Republicans keep bringing up the Catholic thing and the Democrats are caught by the net. Biden is a Catholic, many Democrats are Catholic. Catholicism is not an issue in itself, if you base your court decisions in law, not religion. Forcing this appointment through while the election is ongoing is “Packing the Court” which R keeps trying to say D will do. The simplest way to solve all this is to stop Partisan appointments. Courts require independence to do the right thing for the society they serve. I am happy ACB says she will not be a pawn. Hope that is true. Like you say, she has handled herself well in the hearings. Stay well.

I will say I am impressed by ACB’s decorum as a person, and how she composed herself when answering all the questions. She seems like a good role model in her behavior. And there was definitely unfair “attacking”/standards being used by the senators questioning her… on both sides, to be honest, as we all know that this hearing is not so much about approving the confirmation of ACB (which is going to happen pretty much regardless) but more about each side making speeches to put out their party’s views.
But… I’m a little confused about the glorification of ACB as a person. I really thought the whole point of people of faith was not to hold up individuals to the level that I’m hearing in your blog post. Calling her a “modern day Esther” is honestly slightly frightening for me to read.
Also, I’m more than a little confused on how abortion has come to be the one sole issue that Christians are supposed to care about. It is a deeply complex, sad, and grossly oversimplified topic, one that has no simple solution, especially not just overturning Roe v Wade.
I’m a Christian who finds herself aligning more with “the left” on certain topics, mostly because (overall, I’m aware this is a generalization) the conservative right seems unwilling to even engage in conversations to hear people and what they’re going through. Obviously I’m not going to try to convince anyone, especially not online, to agree with my perspective. I know that God has no party alignment, so there’s no “right or wrong” partisan side for Christians. It’s a mess overall.

One thing I see in this post is that you have determined to defend the Lord’s name. He will bless you to find more and more reasons to defend His honor and His truth.
I also see that you believe His will and His ways will prevail. Almost nobody uses the term, “If the Lord wills” today. In the olden days, when people spoke or wrote letters, they used “DV” or “Divine Volition” (James 4:13-15). That was the norm, not the exception.
I also see more and more insight in your application of Biblical language and facts. For example, you mention the spiritual gifts known to be part of the first century church. Actually, there were not just seven gifts; there were nine (1 Cor. 12:1-11) no doubt why Christianity spread so quickly in New Testament times.

Very well said. Were Ginsburg to have retired and be a witness to all that is going on right now with Amy Coney Barrett, she would be mortified. Imagine her outrage at Barrett being asked how she was going to be a mother and a Justice or in being asked to give definitive yes or no answers on how she will rule on cases in which she has heard no arguments or in being chastised for the clothes she chooses to wear to the hearing. Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy is being mocked and ridiculed every time a senator asks a sexist or demeaning question to a person of Barrett’s proven integrity, intelligence, and education as well as every time one presses her to tell how she will decide on a case. RBG NEVER told anyone how she was going to rule. EVER. It was one her strongest principles. This is the very kind of treatment Ginsburg fought against throughout her career.

I would like to make one more comment. Your new focus on spiritual things just could be what saves you from your former obsession over eating too much or too little. In Scripture, food is not the focus. Christians eat to live and serve the Lord. They don’t live to eat like the heathen do.

I too have watched in amazement and amusement these hearings as I wanted to hear directly from the person, not the MSM. She is articulate, very smart, and has a remarkable memory in addition to her grace under pressure – power of Holy Spirit gifts. I have to keep telling myself – “See you first the KINGDOM of GOD, and all these things will be added unto you.” This world and this election are in God’s hands – I have to ask “What are you doing? and How can I come alongside God in this time?”

Given that a Supreme Court appointment is for life, a few days of Q&A is not only appropriate but desirable. I’m appalled at the commentary herein. I don’t suppose any of you people are familiar with the concept of separation of Church and State. If this woman is going to the highest court in the land with a bible, rather than the Constitution is troubling in the extreme. Established law is now under threat. I am a devout Catholic; however, I would never insert my faith into any political discussion. It is not appropriate. The hypocrisy of the Republican Party is galling. They refused to consider an appointment by Obama claiming it was an election year. Now they are rushing the confirmation process before we can run Trump out of office. You want to talk about evil? Look at Mitch McConnell. Showing up at the RNC with a rifle was political theater, a puppet show, as this man kowtowed to his masters at NRA. Well, hope is on the horizon. The Democratic Party will prevail, not only in the POTUS race but also in Congress. Time to clean up another Republican mess.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a class act, very intelligent, and held her own with dignity and without a flinch in the face of political bias attacks against her character. She will make a fine addition to the U.S. Supreme Court, and her tenure will certainly outlast those politicians who see themselves as being all that and a bag of chips. The same photo you show in your post is circulating on social media with the exception that the notepad has this written on it: “I have seven children, I’m used to answering stupid questions all day” — too funny!
Many people are touting foul over the “separation of church and state,” but that concept by Jefferson was to protect the church from being ruled by the state, not to restrict the church’s influence on state affairs. After all, the framers of the Declaration of Independence certainly had God in the forefront of their thoughts when writing: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” In the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, The Establishment Clause prevents the U.S. Congress from passing legislation to establish an official religion, and the Free Exercise Clause prohibits government from interfering with the right of the people to practice their religion of choice. Neither of which prohibits the church from being an influence in government affairs or the direction of the nation and its laws. What is more interesting is the lack of attention by some to mention Article Six of the U.S. Constitution that sates, in part, “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” Therefore, as a Constitutional Republic, why all the fuss over one judge who happens to be a Christian? Ah! It’s because such a presence might just tip the scale towards a less progressive, more conservative court. That is where the rubber meets the road and why this became such a political embarrassment for our nation.
Still, the church’s primary place is not in Washington D.C.; instead, it is to be among the people educating them in the ways of God because when the hearts of the people change, Washington politics will follow suite. The church is called to proclaim the gospel, not lobby for it in Washington. That said, I echo your call to prayer, my sister, to call upon the Supreme Judge who sits in the Supreme High court over all, and His word if faithful and true. Blessings to you. 🙂

She’s done an amazing job of showing grace and patience in the presence of adversity, especially when dealing with the few senators who should have retired long ago (Leahy) who could barely get a sentence out. If this doesn’t show a reason for term limits, then I don’t know what does. Representatives who have spent 38+ years living off OUR TAX DOLLARS need to go. I find it sadly comical that those who are judging her for her beliefs, for her “religion” if you will, won’t even admit that their “non-belief” can technically be classified AS A RELIGION. What makes them any different?

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire procedure for I better understand the system and the positioning of various senators, doing more research. We have better clarity on how the two sides think, and how important it is that Amy Barrett is confirmed. With her, there will be less legislation from the bench, something that was never supposed to happen. With her, all cases brought before the Supreme Court will be checked with the U.S. Constitution. And with our President, more and more people are seeing reason. This is fantastic. And we got to watch the faulty reasoning of the democratic and radical left, and understand they will say anything, including lies, just to gain position and power. But we also got to see some amazing people bringing understanding to the discussions. And people got to watch. **One more thing. She’s a breath of fresh air, and her family tells a wonderful tale. Also, the people she’s known, one can see, were made better for knowing her. But the democrats hate when they see decent, moral, traditional people, and this was on full display these past few days. We pray daily.

I was impressed that Senator Josh Hawley, a Christ follower although not Catholic, has asked they not pull her religious beliefs into this process. As a retired Human Resources professional, I would have been fired if I questioned an applicant about their religious beliefs. Why do we have that law if it doesn’t hold for all jobs in the United States? If she is a qualified judge, she will be impartial. I hope she is accepted. She is an exceptional person and strong in her faith. Most of all, from a hiring perspective, she is most qualified.

I cannot say the same for some of the people currently serving who questioned her. “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of” (Luke 6:45). We saw evidence in Judge Barrett of the qualities in her heart, qualities you mentioned; we saw evidence of the opposite qualities in some of her questioners.

Recently saw a video with Bill Maher talking about how much of the Supreme Court is ruled by Catholics and how Amy Barrett is also Catholic. I don’t understand the logic there. His supposed favorite people aka, (Biden, Pelosi, etc.) are self-professed Catholics. So what’s the problem?..
Its all about hate right now. Watching the video of Amy Barrett answering questions was much like watching the trials Christ took just before his crucifixion. They could not find fault with Christ and instantly brought on hate and instigated crowds to hurl hate towards him.
The same with Amy Barrett. The media could not find fault in her and immediately started the hate speech. So.. what else can we expect?..
If someone stands for right, the world will hate that person. Christ said it himself. In the last days that will begin. Its something that we cannot stop it. We just have to endure it, the same way that Christ endured the cross.

I watch and read the news from as many sources as I can. I have always made an effort to expose myself to both sides of any arguement. It is our personal responsibility to ensure we are fully informed. I prefer coverage which sticks to the facts. I generally dislike personal attacks full stop. I finally had enough of conspiracy theories and personal attacks this week. I have decided I will not tolerate any of it. I won’t have any of it repeated in my presence. You have a big enough platform to be able to discourage personal attacks. When I think of this topic I think of John McCain. He refused to allow a woman to launch into a personal attack on his political “enemy” Obama. John McCain countered her by calling his rival a fine man with whom he just happened to have political differences. I am always impressed by people who can have love and respect for each other, even if they profoundly disagree. We profoundly disagree on many issues too but I thank you for the respect you have always shown.

Nice, well-written piece. Politics seems to bring out the worst in many people, on both sides of the aisle. I felt proud of Judge Barrett for her professional, tough, smart, and measured responses. She did not allow anyone to bully her. I agree, it is sad when certain elements loudly complain and accuse when religion, god, the Spirit, or Jesus are mentioned. While those mentions should not be a threat, the powers of light are always perceived as threatening by the powers of darkness. I am not a shouter or a combatant, but I can add to the world’s measure of calm, rationality, courtesy, and love. Judge Barrett will bring a good balance to the court. Be well!

My husband pointed out to me yesterday that the Girl Guides had posted a congratulations message about her appointment, and by the end of the day, had taken it down due to the vitriol and shame aimed at them. He mentioned it as an example of ‘cancel culture’ that seems to be taking over these days. I was quite saddened by it all. They had simply wanted to congratulate a former Girl Guide for getting appointed, and they end up retracting due to the severe statements they received. There is so little grace in the world right now for each other. You, however, sprinkle grace and love into each comment that you reply to. Blessings.
