Sometimes We Have to Hit Rock Bottom

I’m writing this on Wednesday evening from my Greenwich Village apartment. Thereโ€™s a constant wail of sirens and a drone of helicopters right outside my window, tending to the swarms of protesters and demonstrates that have taken to the streets of my NYC neighborhood.

The election results are still outstanding. And all anyone on the news is talking about is potential voter fraud, and tediously going through all the different state-combinations President Trump or Joe Biden needs in order to get to 270 electoral votes.

And, like you, I’m about ready to rip my hair out. I can’t take any more of the commentary. Just count the legal votes, and determine the winner. It doesn’t seem too difficult.

I’ve pretty much conceded that Joe Biden is going to win. And if somehow, Trump pulls out a miraculous victory, then this entire writing effort here tonight will find its way to the circular file before publication, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Because, as it appears right now, Biden is going to win this this thing by the skin of his veneers.

And, if like me, that has you highly concerned for the moral state of our country — for its protection of the sanctity of life, for the foreseeable future of what was once Trump’s booming economy that was uplifting all Americans, for the religious freedom we’ve been privileged to exercise, for the health of businesses – large and small, for the once thriving stock market and the financial security that brought to over 100 million of us, and for the personal liberties that are in grave jeopardy under a Biden (really Harris) administration — allow me to just say this: sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom, in order for there to be extraordinary change.

And, sure, maybe that sounds dramatic, but truthfully, with the most radically far left senator – Kamala Harris – at the wheel, I truly do fear that we may never see the same America ever again. Because, many people believe, that three months into his term, Biden is going to come out and say that he has developed dementia and is no longer fit to serve. Enter Kamala “I’m speaking” Harris.

But I am here to tell you, that I am living proof that sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom, in order for us to have a momentous transformation.

During my anorexia, I not only reached rock bottom, but the basement of rock bottom.

I went from a three-sport Varsity athlete on the Homecoming Court with a bright future in the drama department at USC, to an osteopenic, 78-pound shell of my former self. I had thrown away all my relationships, lost my hair, didn’t walk in my graduation, abused my body to literal skin and bone, and I found myself across the country at an inpatient treatment facility for three months.

You see, before my eating disorder, I was crippled with pride and vanity. I was the finalist in the Miss Teen Ohio pagaent, I was dating the captain of the football team, and I allowed myself to be defined by my looks and outward appearance, as much as I hate to admit that.

And in order to get through to me — through my stubbornness, through my inflated sense of self and importance — God literally had to strip it all away. Up to and including my mane of beautiful curly hair.

It was rock bottom. I had nothing left. Not even a shred of dignity, having had lied to every person in my life that I “didn’t have an eating disorder.”

Rock. Bottom.

Sometimes, God has to break us, in order to rebuild us in a way that — not only saves us from ourselves — but allows us to recognize the error of our ways, and in turn, sets us on the right path: His.

Is it pretty radical to say that a Biden/Harris administration could bring us to rock bottom? Yeah. But as I see it…it is very possible:

The tremendous headway that Trump made in the protection of unborn children in the womb will be completely reversed — and then some.

And truthfully, that is the greatest tragedy of all.

Image: Politico

There will be dark days. Civil liberties — like the second amendment, our right to religious freedom, freedom of speech, etc — will be infringed. Many more people will hurt financially — (I mean, where has socialism ever worked?) We will hurt morally. We will hurt socially and spiritually. And as “woke” cancel culture becomes the mainstay, we will also hurt on a personal level.

But I have to trust that this is all part of God’s plan.

Do I wish that I didn’t have to go through that incredibly painful painful season where I lost literally everything to my anorexia? Sure. It was the hardest season of my life.

But I know that I am the woman I am today, precisely because I endured that trial.

When we carry our cross, we share in the suffering of Jesus, and therefore, become more like Him. And what a beautiful thing that is.

I can only hope and pray that this upcoming season of moral corruption and strife that I believe we will see in a Biden/Harris administration will be divinely used to bring about a change that is good and pleasing to God. That He will use it to raise new faithful leaders who will help transform our nation into one that recognizes the need to protect the innocent and vulnerable, and finds a newfound gratitude for the freedoms and liberties that we took for granted. Perhaps it will spur in the church an overwhelming desire to return to worship and bring people home to Jesus. And in that case, I guess that would be the greatest election outcome of all.

  1. You consider to amaze me with your wisdom. There is a Bible verse, โ€œthe heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord.โ€ This somehow comforts me even though I agree with you, God could allow America to suffer long. We are an increasingly sinful people. May God help us.

    • Oh my gosh thank you friend – I am humbled by your kind words. Yes – God is in control. May He bless and help us! Hugs and love xox

    • Thanks so much Angela. Iโ€™m so glad it resonated with you. Yes – I will join you in that prayer. Hugs and love xox

  2. You are spot on in your analogy….. I too see Biden being taken aside for Harris to move in to the presidency. Yup! ROCK BOTTOM isn’t too far away if Biden wins. No more God fearing choices in the white house with all the babies who will be unborn and on and on with the evil agenda we will be in for! God Bless you for your candidness here.
    Julia

    • Thank you so much Julia. Iโ€™m so glad it resonated with you. I agree. It makes me so glad to think about. Iโ€™m holding onto hope for as long as my mom does, and sheโ€™s still holding out hope for Mr. President! Praying for those babies in the womb!! Hugs and love xox

      • If Biden is elected, it will mean God’s judgement on America.
If Trump stays in office, it will be because of God’s mercy on us.
We deserve the first but not the second, for the very reason of those millions of preborn babies butchered in the safety of their mother’s wombs.

    • I don’t know how people don’t understand that if you are capable of killing life within/inside of you, then you can kill life without/outside of you.
And what kind of a society is that? Where it’s legal to murder?
I’m just tired of the “it’s my body” argument. We are talking of the baby not your body.

  3. I feel the same. All I can do is to keep encouraging each other and remind each other how much God loves us and one day God will make everything right. One day, all the kings and presidents will stand before the King of kings and Lord of lords and all will give account. There are no free passes for either political party. For all Christians,

    • Thanks friend. Iโ€™m so glad this hit home with you. Yes – youโ€™re right. Thatโ€™s such a comfort. One day Heโ€™ll make everything right. Hugs and love xox

  4. I am concerned as well, which is why I wrote my post too (thanks for liking it BTW). When I think, though, how many people, Christians and non-Christians, are on their knees, praying right now, I think that is amazing. Talk about corporate worship. I am also reminded that many of my conservative friends, myself included, felt very similar when Obama was elected, and yet we survived. I know they are different people, but I am reminded that Obama wanted to “fundamentally transform America.” Yeah, that’s pretty scary. And on some levels I think he succeeded. But America’s heart still beats, perhaps stronger than ever. The corruption has been exposed, and real Americans have been shaken to their core. We are watching now, where many of us just walked through life before. I have faith that we’ll get through this. All is not lost. God is still on the throne.

    • Thanks Lisa for sharing your thoughts on this. Youโ€™re right – the turn out of prayer is phenomenal! I think that is a beautiful thing! Hugs and love xox

  5. You wrote an excellent piece tonight. Thank you for standing by the truth of Christ and not afraid to speak your mind in these difficult times we are facing in this country. Tomorrow I’m coming out with a large piece on this issue myself. I appreciate all you write. Keep going.

    • Thank you so much E. Iโ€™m so glad this resonated with you. Look forward to reading your piece! Hugs and love xox

  6. This is nailbiting for sure. I noticed Georgia is between 5,000 votes with Trump in the lead just now.

But I will not admit defeat. For the past 4 years the Democrats have been wailing and screaming about Trump and the unfounded hate.

Even if Biden claims victory with his 270 electoral votes it’s not finished until every vote is counted and every fradulant vote is discredited. Even if Trumps lawyers has to go through each and every vote we need to make sure every vote matters. Check it 3x and i don’t care how long its dragged out for the Democratic party is long past time to be put on trial. They tried to put Trump on trial for the past 4 years they need the same done to them starting with this voting system.

If there is enough fraudulent votes to put Trump in a landslide victory the Democrats are finished. And I guarantee you Trump will not go down without a fight. Hes been fighting to restore freedom in this country and when you have nothing left to lose you give it your all.

That’s my take on it. Don’t give up on Trump yet until Biden is sworn into office or Trump has been prosecuted for treason (which I can guarantee he will try and do in order to expose the Democrats). If you think this is nailbiting for us the left is still going a bit mad that they don’t yet have a winner either.

    It’s not over yet!

    • Nail biting indeed. Yeah, as the hours pass it gets closer and closer. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Yes – every vote counted! Hugs and love xox

      • Oh its crazy. And as usual the Democrats are denying the claims of voter fraud. Some of these polling places doing counts are not being regulated enough either. We need impartial parties watching the counts, especially the mail in ballots.

Democrats doesn’t like Trump’s interference for sure but he is making sure it’s a fair and truthful count. I guarantee you if Trump wins the left and Democrats in general will scream Trump interfered, but he literally can’t do this. He is requesting more eyes and ears so that no fraudulent counting is occurring. Seems fair to me. At the end of the day we all have to pray it works out.

  7. Wow! I have been a follower of your blog for quite a while, finding it inspirational to know that someone could come through a battle with anorexia with a better sense of spirituality. I would like to let you know you have your numbers incorrectly. Biden is at 253 electoral seats and Trump is at 213. I find it so hard to believe that a reasonably intelligent young woman could blatantly parrot the lies being put out by this administration. I have been watching the televised coverage of the polling centres and watched the observers checking ballots. As for Trump being the saviour of your nation I think you are mistaken. He only had such a great economy because President Bama had worked so hard with Biden to fix the mess they inherited. Trump has done nothing to save or prevent over 180,000 deaths from Covid and has in fact, hosted super spreader events. Just look where his rallies were and 10-14 days later the numbers of cases spiked, if your idea of a great leader is a man who abuses women, lies consistently, refuses to pay contractors who performed work on his properties, does not release tax returns (then we would know who he owes money to), and refused to divest himself of his properties or businesses (which are extremely debt laden). Then you win!

    • Hi Carol, thank you for voicing your concern. This election has emotions running high for sure. I appreciate your readership, and I do hope you continue to stop by, despite our political differences. Thanks for joining the conversation. Hugs and love xox

    • The problem is Biden isn’t a great man either. How many photos do we need to see of him around children looking uncomfortable? They gave him at 264 and Trump at 214. At least that’s what I’ve seen. The pandemic handling could’ve been better. I agree. But if you think for a second it would be different under Democratic leadership, I don’t see it. The truth is people are stupid. They do foolish things and don’t take stuff seriously. Look at all the college kids who had Covid parties. Real intelligent. Obama was fine in his first term. The second I didn’t like. And most people needed 2nd and 3rd jobs. Nobody ever talks about that. His healthcare which was his big promise was unaffordable for most American families. And for myself who has anxiety, I had to pay out of pocket for stuff due to a flawed system. I don’t think they thought it through. Had they, maybe it could’ve worked better. Before the pandemic, the economy was better and our foreign policies were stronger. Under a Biden (Harris really) leadership, that could go out the window. With the way social media censors anyone who doesn’t fall in line, that’s socialism. It’s communist behavior that violates our basic rights. I’ve had stuff flagged for daring to question them. What’s the point of even living here if you can’t voice your opinion. We are allowed to think differently. The only additional comment I’ll say is if Biden is in, he better bring the two parties together. I wish I could see it. But it’s already so tarnished. Ever since 2000 when they screwed Gore out of the Presidency. Fraud has happened before. 1960 too. My takeaway is it’s time to overhaul the system. Otherwise, what are we voting for? Sorry for the long response Carol. I wish you well. Hope for the best. It starts with each of us. Regardless if you disagree with me. Peace.

  8. Nice to drop in on tonight’s event here in your blog, great to look in. The truly solid post you’ve composed is checking significant notes. Quite heartfelt to read.

    God Bless!

    • Thank you so much Odell!! I appreciate you saying that. Glad it hit home with you. Hugs and love xox

      • You have it laid out pretty thoroughly Caralyn. The bottom is sometimes as painful to reach as the bottom itself. And while I donโ€™t have much confidence if Biden is elected a passage from Chronicles comes to mind. โ€œif my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.โ€ The focus here is not on the unbelievers to change but the believers. Written to those in the Old Testament but all Scripture is applicable. Just a thought. But another impressive post. You are still Godโ€™s gift to whoever reads your blog. Thanks. John

      • Thank you John. Youโ€™re right – scripture is applicable back then, today and tomorrow. We can take comfort in His word. Hugs and love xox

  9. Just a reminder that Biden attended mass on election day. He has his priorities straight. I pray that all of you will see that in time.

    • Thank you Peter for sharing your thoughts. Though that is great that he attended Mass, I still cannot support someone who supports abortion. I appreciate you joining the conversation! Hugs and love xox

  10. As always, a great post. I’ve made it a practice not to comment on political matters for various reasons. But I can relate to your comment about wanting to pull your out, lol. What is more disturbing to me is the way the church is turning in on itself, brother against brother, sister against sister because of this. Some of the comments I’ve seen on Twitter (@VoiceShepherd77) for example have really grieved me. That is my concern right now.

Beyond that, You have a powerful testimony. You are right about having to hit rock bottom, as I have had to do in my own way as well. I do believe tis country is headed for rock bottom as well. Will it happen with a Biden/Harris Presidency? I’ve no idea. A second Trump Presidency? I ‘ve no idea. But I do believe that the Lord is going to use this time to shake His people. And that shaking has already begun. He does so to draw us back to Himself.

    http://voiceshepherd.home.blog/2020/11/02/politics-and-the-gospel-a-special-message/

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Itโ€™s really hard to be apolitical at this time when emotions are running night. Thank you for your kind words. Hugs and love xox

  11. Very brave to put out an election post. As a Canadian, I have tried to stay out of this, but I can not continue. I just watched the Orange pumpkin’s speech from the White House and think you are now at rock bottom and about to go subterranean. Not only the Democrats wail about Trump’s lies, all countries outside of the U.S. can clearly see his lies. I know that U.S. politics are highly polarized, but, I for one can not see how anyone can support #45, no matter how good you think the economy is. Why do you think your religious freedoms will be infringed on by a leader who is a staunch Catholic, just like your latest Supreme Court judge? I, for one have more faith in your country and its people. I think this is the wake up call for democracy. Until both parties work together for the good of the country and its people, there will continue to be trouble. Bipartisan action has been promised if Biden gets in. If in fact, he does get in, give him a chance to show what he can do.

    • Thank you friend. Yes I was scared to push publish, so I appreciate your feedback. Glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  12. Your fears are substantiated. From Isaiah 6: “Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull, and close their eyes” …Then I said “For how long, Lord?” And He answered, “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged…” That’s what a country that’s hit rock bottom looks like.

  13. Perfect reflection on whatโ€™s going on. I really hope God saves us before having to go through 4 years of Biden/Harris (Harris) but we just have to remember itโ€™s 4 years and we can get through it. Hopefully it will result in great leadership in 4 years. (Hopefully a Noem/Scott or Scott/Noem ticket) Iโ€™m just glad we have the Senate and Supreme Court to help protect us. Your words are always so inspiring, keep it up.

    • Thanks friend. Glad it hit home with you. I agree. The senate and the Supreme Court are such blessings!!! Glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  14. Remember that God is ultimately and always in control. When a lady miscarries a baby, Our Father knows every bit of that soul already and never ever casts a baby of His creation aside. Please don’t worry overtly about these political matters, and you are right about us maybe needing to hit rock bottom. Don’t forget that last book of our Bible, and trust always in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please keep the faith alive, as I know you do, and please keep on motivating us with your blog about redemption and recovery. Your testimony has been a blessing already to so many, and I thank you for it. May the Lord bless you indeed! Thank you for your beautifully written article today, and please keep praying, as a righteous woman. Warm fuzzies on a chilly day!

    • Youโ€™re so right about that Susan. God is in control. Thatโ€™s so important to remember. Yes! Praying! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  15. Thank you, dear Caralyn, for this hopeful outlook. I just sat outside on our patio earlier this evening trying to wrap my mind around the unthinkable…a Biden/Harris presidency. I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut. But I know, as you so beautifully expressed, that the Church tends to thrive in hard times. God will sift us, the tares from the wheat, and the Church will shine. God help us in these days, and may we stand strong and shine bright for the dark world to see and know. Stay safe, my friend.

    • Thank you so much Patty. Yes I do have hope that no matter what, God will bring good out of any situation. Amen. Hugs and love xox

  16. Right now, if the US falls into the hands of the Left, then you can expect that we will be heading towards more chaos and the fall of the west as we know it. we will be ushered into a socialist/communist country under the thumb of China. Which will in turn pace the way for technocrats to drive us towards a new world order that takes eugenics et al as their mantra. It will also be a total lost of our freedom- especially our religious one.

    • I fully agree. Thank you for sharing your heart. I pray that that is not the case. God help us!! Big hugs to you xox

  17. Caralyn, thank you for your candid comments without vitriol. We need them. And I hope you don’t take too much flack. But if you do, I’ve watched you return callous comments with grace before. Blessings. For our God rules above all this mess. Praise him.

    • Thank you so much Robin for your kind words. Yes – I was definitely nervous to hit publish. But sometimes youโ€™ve just got to say whatโ€™s on your heart. So glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  18. Iโ€™ve accepted the fact that Biden is probably going to win this election. It took a couple of days to get over the initial โ€œshockโ€ and come to terms with reality. Regardless of who wins, Canada is ultimately in trouble. We rely so heavily on the US and our economy is already so bad here. What happens in the US affects Canada as well. Itโ€™s no wonder so many Canadians have been glued to their TV screens this week.

    • Thank you Hilary for sharing your heart. Iโ€™m so sorry to hear that about Canada. To be totally transparent, I didnโ€™t realize the ramifications this would have on our northern neighbors! Praying hard! Hugs and love xox

  19. I disagree. I think President Trump will remain presidentโ€ฆ

For stability, I think thereโ€™s a basic need for law and order.
    ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
(So, and with ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ, a role for President Trump, forwardโ€ฆ)

    โ€ฆ

I also look forward to churchโ€ฆ
    ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

  20. Itโ€™s interesting to read your views. I think the majority of people in the UK see Trump in a very different light from you. I hope that your fears about your religious freedoms are unsubstantiated – itโ€™s certainly not the impression we get over here that theyโ€™re in danger. As you said though, ultimately God is in control and weโ€™re certainly safer putting our faith and hope in him and not in any man (or woman).

    • Thank you so much. Yes, he is portrayed very differently by the media than he actually is. It is a travesty to be honest. Amen – God is in control. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  21. May the Lord bless you and give you Peace. God will take whatever is wrong and turn it for good. You have a wonderful example with your story and you have overcome a difficult trial with God’s help. Be in peace. It’s hard to do, but be patient and see how He works this situation out.

    Peace, David

    • Thank you so much David. I totally agree – God will bring good out of every situation. Hugs and love xox

  22. I agree with everything you said. And, if we are sent falling toward rock bottom, I wonder if weโ€™ll pull out of that nose-dive in our lifetimes. Remember how long the tide events takes to turn in the Bible! Paul wrote how God unleashed His wrath on the unrighteous in Romans 1:

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; Romans 1:28

I fear the country will be given over to the debased values so many have embraced. I still am utterly shocked that Oregon has decriminalized ALL illegal drugs!

Stay safe, my friend! I worry for you with all that going on right under your nose!

    • Thank you so much Jeff. Yes – it is wild out here in NYC right now. I do pray that the nosedive is only a four-year one. Youโ€™re right – we can find the answers in His Word – we always can. Youโ€™re right – we have made our bed and we must lay in it. Lord have mercy! Hugs and love xox

  23. I think you are a very courageous and guarded person with common sense. Something that isn’t so common these days. You put together a well constructed post and explained your position without any animosity. Only genuine concern. And well, my reaction is it is what it is. We need to move on. Just declare Biden the winner. Duck and cover. I’m just gonna take care of me. I’ve been hitting the gym and eating healthier. So far, so good. And I write. Be well Caralyn. God bless you. ๐Ÿ’œโญ๏ธ

    • Thank you so much Derek for your kind words. Thatโ€™s kind of you to say. Thatโ€™s great that youโ€™ve been taking good care of yourself! If weโ€™re heading towards universal healthcare, that would definitely behoove you! Hugs and love xox

  24. You ask the question since when has socialism ever worked and my jaw drops to the floor and I gasp. The word socialism is now a slur in your nation. It made me think well when has christianity ever worked? Socialism is about standing up for and providing rights to all people not just the unborn, but those that are already on this earth to. I do believe it is posible to create a society that stands up for the rights of individuals whether they are rich or poor and such protection should not be seen as a capitalist, socialist or even christian goal, but of a never ending story of human universal suffrage. All voters are equal and as such all have a right to be heard, counted and cast. Trump was never your salvation, I thought Jesus was.

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Trump is definitely not my salvation. I do agree that all voters are equal and have a right to have their voice heard! I appreciate you joining the conversation. Hugs and love xox

  25. Your testimony is very inspiring. As for the election, I’m still hoping for the best, but at least if Biden wins/steals the presidency he won’t be able to accomplish the radical goals of the left after the results of the Senate and House races. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you so much PK – if youโ€™re still holding out hope then so am I!! ๐Ÿ™‚ so glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  26. I have been and will continue to urge all believers to take a deep breath, keep making good decisions, and have faith. By doing so, if this is the apocalyptic-ish moment of which you suggest, then I certainly agree that good will come out of it all. Don’t lose heart! “Be still, and know that I am God.”

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Amen – be still and know! Hugs and love xox

  27. Amen to the message, but this isn’t over yet. Trump already won the election Tuesday night. Once all the illegal votes are removed, the legal votes will prove Trump won. Everyone sees the blatant cheating by the left. They are not going to get away with it. Praying the fraud continues to be exposed and the truth comes to light. We have fought and prayed so hard for righteousness. I don’t believe God will allow them to steal the election. Trump has NC, GA, and PA. He will win AZ too. If Biden were to win, then our Constitutional Republic is over. The integrity of the election system would be ruined. I’ve been fighting hard for years, and I’m not giving up now. God is with Trump, not the lying cheating democrats. The true numbers will come out soon! God bless!

      • Peter, How about hundreds of thousands of ballots magically showing up in the middle of the night in only key blue states that Trump was leading in and then 100% of those votes went to Biden. But that’s not evidence and there’s no fraud, right? Riiiight. We also have video evidence of blatant voter intimidation and obstruction, observers being barred, & ballots being destroyed. Then there are the suppression polls, delaying calling states that Trump has clearly won, quickly calling states for Biden, and Fox calling AZ way too early. It’s painfully obvious what is going on. Doesn’t matter if you’re Republican or Democrat, all of us should want fair and honest elections.

    • Thanks so much Ryan. I do truly hope youโ€™re right. Legal votes – we need to make sure they are the ones counted! A task Iโ€™m afraid is easier said than done. I agree – this has totally delegitimization our election process. So very sad. Hugs and love xox

      • Yet the Senate wasnโ€™t affected. Interesting theories but Iโ€™m not convinced.

  28. You know I have always been a follower of you and your blog and maybe disagreed with you once but I have to say this one is quite upsetting. You mentioned hitting rock bottom and even mentioned God in that. I find it hard to believe that you think that things have been so wonderful these last few years under Trump and will be so bad under Biden and oh (Harris). The person we have in office now in My opinion has always been one sided when it comes to Americans and for some of us, weโ€™re pretty close to rock bottom in many ways. The economy is just a part of it. But I guess when it comes down to being truthful in the end what everyone feels about everyone will come to light. I judge people as individuals not by race but how they treat others. But as this election plays out it is showing who everyone is and who they represent and stand for. God is in control of everything and His will shall be done but rock bottom!! I am really surprised. You seemed to be such a nice person and I donโ€™t doubt that you are but for me if you can look pass the many things that Trump has done wrong and think that hasnโ€™t been some of the worst things and rock bottom then I donโ€™t know.

    • Thank you Corrie for sharing your thoughts on this. For myself and many others, a vote for trump is not for the person, but the policies he stands for – and for me, those are his prolife policies. I cannot in good conscience for vote a candidate that is pro-abortion. That to me, goes against every moral fiber of my being and a vote against God and His commandments. I would fear for my salvation in all honesty. So Iโ€™m choosing to look past the person of trump and the deplorable things heโ€™s done and said, and instead vote for what the Republican Party stands for / which although is not all good, is better than the alternative. Thank you so much for joining the dialogue. I respect your views and opinions and truly appreciate your readership. Hugs and love xox

  29. When I was still a practicing Catholic, my impression for being pro-life meant we honored all lives. That would mean we would abolish the death penalty. If we didn’t want abortion to happen we would provide much greater financial support for those women facing a difficult road ahead of them in the event of an unexpected pregnancy.

It would also mean we had a President who had taken the pandemic much more seriously, hadn’t spread misinformation and contradicted physician and scientists.

I am an infection prevention nurse. Our government’s response to the pandemic has inadequate. Our Republican governor won’t even mandate masks. We have had a surge in COVID cases. Hospitals in my area preparing for worst case scenarios.

My mother is in a long term care facility. I am not allowed to visit her because I(or other visitors) could bring COVID into the facility. This is devastating on so many levels for so many people and their families.

I did not get a yearly raise because my employer has spent so much money on COVID preparedness.

I myself have COVID-19. I thank the Lord that I did not die–so many lives have been lost of those employed in health care, from physicians to nursing assistants. I read the stories of those have lost their lives to COVID-19 and I want to cry. If I recall correctly and ER physician from NYC took her life because she was overwhelmed by the situation.

The PPE shortages were absolutely disgraceful.

I think we are at rock bottom already, at least in my corner of the world.

Biden wasn’t my first choice–at least he behaves with a minimal amount of dignity though that was expected of most Presidents before Trump came along.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. You bring up some great points. I agree that we need to provide support and resources for women with unexpected pregnancies. That is why I support prolife crisis pregnancy centers. They offer support throughout and after pregnancies for women. They are a beautiful thing. And I also do not support the death penalty. I appreciate you joining the conversation. Im so sorry you ha donโ€™t been able to visit your mom. I pray that you can soon. And Iโ€™m sorry you have COVID!! Praying for you!!! Hugs and love xox

  30. Stay safe. My prayers are with you and this country. It truly frightens me this pointless violence. I remember when we could have a healthy debate and agree to disagree. Now, it is all out war. It’s just not right. Everybody is shouting the opposing view down. When did this become the norm? God is in control. God will keep his children safe. May God protect and keep you and shine his face upon you.

  31. Come to other sides of the planet trust me you have no idea what โ€œradicalโ€ left means ….letโ€™s just pray there is HEALTHCARE in lieu of impending civil unrest, peace, and the โ€œempireโ€ of US doesnโ€™t collapse .

    • Thanks Barbara for sharing your thoughts. Yes – healthcare is important! Hugs and love xox

  32. Not endured, not survived — those are both past tense. Smiling, happy, healthy, living beauty! ๐Ÿ˜€

  33. I am South African and don’t follow American politics closely, we see a very different picture from the outside, we all have our own viewing points. I just keep praying for all people all over the world to love and live with dignity, in whatever position they are in, God’s purposes, are what’s most important. I pray for that. May you be encouraged and strengthened in your journey as a blogger. ๐Ÿ’

    • Thank you friend – yes The media is definitely putting out quite the slant on what is really going on here. Thatโ€™s one of the biggest problems, in fact; the media itself. Thank you for your prayers! Hugs and love xox

  34. Yes, this election is causing me so much anxiety! I totally agree with you on this: “Just count the legal votes, and determine the winner. It doesnโ€™t seem too difficult.” I don’t recall an election ever dragging on like this before.

    – Katie

    • Thanks Katie – yes! Count the legal votes and determine the winner! I know – it is embarrassing that we cannot determine a winner!!! Hugs and love xox

  35. >> I mean, where has socialism ever worked?
Nowhere… But it does not stop people trying. Socialists claim that socialism has never worked because America (the beacon of Democracy) always puts sanctions on social countries hence hindering their success.
Now that America too becomes a socialist paradise, then Socialism will have its time to shine the way it should..

Now.. there are parts of it that are true. Let’s not kid ourselves. But socialism has never really worked. Look at amazing socialist paradises known as Scandinavian countries. They learned that they needed to go down the privatization of certain things in order to be able to have the freedoms they do. Also, they claim that their economies are not socialist, but free-market. They switched in order to survive. So this socialist utopia that the Democrats are selling is a complete lie.

Back in the day, when I was a kid, America was seen as a beacon of freedom. It was really the greatest country in the world. But sadly, as the liberals became more and more liberal.. as communism crept into the Democrat party and as the people elected leaders that were willing to sell out their country to the highest bidder, we began to see the start of the decline.

Oh.. Most Americans don’t see this. They think they are doing right. They cannot see that they are being manipulated. Granted, maybe for the most part, those of us who never grew up in the US may not understand everything about the US culture, the issues, the history, etc., but we certainly can see both sides of the coin because our news channels show everything.. They are not as biased as the US mainstream media.

I would feel sorry for every citizen that voted for Biden. And I would feel even more sorrier for those that didn’t if he wins.

Praying for you and your family during the difficult time.

    • Nowhere is right. Thanks for this awesome food for thought. I appreciate your prayers. I pray that we can once again be the beacon of freedom. But sadly we are far from. Especially when it comes to the truth. The media doesnโ€™t even tell the straight story any more! Hugs and love xox

  36. I’m praying for our nation. I believe evil will be revealed by this going to the supreme court which will show the voter fraud and corruption. This will then lead to a Trump victory. I could be wrong, but God’s will will be done, and the believers should continue to unite in prayer. May evil be lifted from this nation.

    • The people need to know the truth about the policies of the Democrats. They are only getting voters because they manage to distract people using emotionally charged issues. They’re not letting people actually read the truth about their plans to absolutely ruin the country and the people in the aim of making money for themselves.

      • I completely agree. It’s not just the dems either. There are plenty of republicans knee deep in it and wanting Trump out and not speaking up. There’s a deep corruption there. May God reveal and lift the evil from this land.

    • Thank you Amber. Iโ€™m joining you in that really important prayer! Iโ€™m afraid your right. Godโ€™s will be done! Hugs and love xox

  37. As a non-American, I’m invested in this election not only because of what it means to African Americans, but to black people as a whole. I understand the divide between protecting the unborn child (voting Trump ), and protecting the lives of black people by voting for a President who denounces white supremacy and doesn’t spew hate or incite others against black people. Racism and abortion are two evils. It’s a question of which one affects you deeply.

I’m a black African woman who has lived in a homogenous society, where I’ve never had to face racism, but I cannot explain what racism and racial murders does to a black person’s psyche, American or not. Travelling and moving away from the African continent means I’m moving away from safety and entering into what is mostly white spaces where I’m potentially perceived as a threat and that before travelling, I have to research the country’s stance on racism.

The question then is which life is more important? Your black neighbour or the unborn child?

Bear in mind that criminalising abortion doesn’t translate to people not procuring it, but increases the number of women who die from an abortion performed illegally and or by quacks.

In a question of faith, there’s a vast difference of someone who has heard the word and had it planted in him than someone who never did. We don’t have the power to influence the choices of unbelivers, apart from creating a fair and just world for everyone believers or not, then when we go into their midst, they’ll perceive the word from our kindness and our report.

I’d like to hear other people’s views and maybe we can educate each other on this. I’m unable to reconcile that there are Trump supporters (voters) who aren’t racist or hold racial biases.

    • What about the criminal act that was passed under Trump to let out black men and women from jail who were wrongfully imprisoned or the fact he’s given more money to historically black colleges than any other president, including the former African American president. He is for the people. He is for all of us and the unborn. If you believe mainstream media, then yes, you’ll believe you’re a threat. I don’t know any white person that looks at black Americans this way. I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist, but it’s been put on a platform by the media. Everyone has bias, but the mainstream media makes it look like everyone is after black Americans. This is not true.

    • Thank you so much Sarah for sharing your thoughts on this and sharing your story. Youโ€™re right – two evils. Two horrific evils, both of which need to be eradicated full stop. Thank you for this respectful response and joining the dialogue. Means a lot. Hugs and love xox

    • There are red-necks in every race. You can’t put the label of “racist” just on white people. What about the innocent Asians that were harassed and even killed by Black people when this Covid thing started? Yes.. I bet you never knew that happened. Well because no one was rioting in the streets and the media barely took notice.
I watched a video where a white Antifa protestor was arguing with an African immigrant and telling her that she was oppressed. She bold, proud black lady just looked at her and say, “No I’m not. I’m free.”

The trouble is that people in the US have forgotten what freedom is… They didn’t have to die for it; pay the price for it, etc. So they really don’t know what it means to be oppressed. The school system encourages creativity and free thinking to get into colleges. But there is a hidden agenda. College is where they stamp out the free thinking with rigorous peer pressure and indoctrination into socialism, etc. Colleges teach “Hatred to America & Marxism” and so every year, that is what you are getting – more and more young people that hate their country and would be willing to sell it out for a decent price.

African Americans have been lied to for generations. You have to understand, the Democratic party was founded by the Southern states which were in favor of Slavery. Now there is a huge lie in being taught in college campuses that there was the big switch in which all the racists went to the republican party and vice versa. Big lie. Who were the ones in favor of segregated housing?… The Democrats. So the entire reason you have ghettos, and areas that are predominantly black, asian, latin, etc., is because of the Democrats. It was their idea and they convinced the people it was a republican initiative.
The so called BLM is Democrat funded organization who’s purpose is to bring to the front page news and convince Black people that they are still victims and that they will always be victims. Their main goal is to destroy the African American community and keep them in the same poverty, etc., because that way, they can manipulate and control them – thus always having the Black vote. Its all about keeping the votes. Nothing more.

You will notice that much of the racial tension and issues are in cities that were run by Democrats. If you actually see the truth, you will see that it is them who are the real racists. If there was such a thing as Systemic Racism, how did Obama become president? And if it really existed, why didn’t he do something about it.
They claim that systemic racism is a real thing and that it is far too complex to eradicate. That’s a huge lie. They haven’t been able to get rid of it because it doesn’t exist. They want African Americans to believe that it does because, it allows them to be manipulated.

It saddens me that people are not listening to the African Americans that know the truth. Why? Because it is easy to blame someone else than take responsibility for your own choices.

Which brings me neatly to the point of abortion. I am pro-choice.. BUT.. I am pro-Life more. If someone was to make the choice right now, I would always encourage to do anything else but abortion because I believe that it is the killing of a human life. I don’t want abortion to be the easy and first choice. I want it to be the last resort – where every possible option has been considered to save the unborn child.
We all know that most of the people that come to those clinics are just running away from the responsibility of their lifestyles. Let us not kid ourselves. You can come up with a number of hypothetical scenarios to tell you why it should even be an option; and I would agree with one or two.. but to hang the death penalty on a little child because his father couldn’t keep it in his pants – where is the justice in that?..

  38. I fear we are already losing our freedom of speech. As more and more things become labeled as things you can no longer say because it offends someone, I wonder how long before things we believe in our faith will be labeled as hate speech as well…and as a result, we will lose our freedom of religion. Or at the very least, freedom of expressing our religion publicly. I am praying for your safety…I live in a suburban neighborhood that is, for the most part, pretty peaceful. I cannot imagine being right in the center of unrest. <3 We must remember no matter how bad this world gets, it is not our home.

    • I agree Ellen. All of my prolife articles have been censored on Facebook. And the mainstream media itself doesnโ€™t report the facts – only their agendaโ€™d narrative. Praying for you! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  39. Sister,
There is unequivocally not a doubt in my mind that though for now it seems Biden will win, that there will be a drawn out battle that likely heads to the Supreme court and is partially determined by ACB.

When big tech, big media and hollywood side w/Biden, we know there’s going to be a battle. Hold on. Stand firm in faith. Be patient. Watch what plays out in the coming weeks. And “pray without ceasing.”

    • thank you for sharing your thoughts. Youโ€™re absolutely right. Big tech, media, Hollywood, are all in Bidenโ€™s pocket and are actively trying to craft a detrimental narrative against trump. It is so disappointing on so many levels. Yes. Pray! Hugs and love xox

    • Thank you Alice, that really means a lot!! Yes, letโ€™s keep the faith! Hugs and love xox

  40. Your last line literally made me tear up! It is so refreshing to read words of someone who has values. Who isn’t pandering to cancel culture. I have so much respect for you as a human! Thank you for being you and sharing your wisdom.

    • Aw thank you Teresa. Iโ€™m so glad it resonated with you! Iโ€™m so touched – thank you friend. Hugs and love xox

  41. I am again impressed with your insight and wisdom at your young age. I also applaud your willingness to share your opinions and then be able to accept those that disagree with you with grace.

No matter who wins the election, I pray that they realize that half the country does not want them in office. No matter a person’s position, that is a daunting task to lead when half of your contingents don’t want. you before you even start your term..

    Stay safe and stay strong.

    • Thank you so much! I was definitely nervous to publish this post. I agree – I pray that our nation can come together and heal from the vitriol weโ€™ve witness during this election. Hugs and love xox

  42. Thank you so much for being brave enough to say it. I live and work in a place that values “liberal” ideals. All opinions are important unless they are conservative. This election has been very isolating. One person asked me how Trump got so many votes. I said, maybe the people who support him fear openly doing so for fear of being ostracized. He thought for a moment and said, no that can’t be it. ๐Ÿ™„
    Thank you.

    • Thank you so much Kay – I feel you there – it has been incredibly isolating. I pray that no matter who won our country can all come together and heal. Hugs and love xox

  43. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and, yes, we’re far apart politically. I voted for Biden and I’m happy it looks like he’s going to win. However, I’m also sad for the country. We’re incredibly divided and it seems like there’s deep, deep resentment and hatred on both sides right now. To be honest, I was afraid of Trump, much like you seem to be afraid of Biden.

I’m really hoping there can be some unity and healing in the future. I always believed that politics was about compromise. None of us are ever totally going to get everything we want. For example, abortion seems like an issue that’s really important to you, while I don’t think about it much. On the flip side, I think a lot about the threat of white supremacist groups and was actually very frightened by Trump, especially by the way he seemed to align himself with groups like the Proud Boys and others.

I honestly don’t know what the answer to all this is. But I do know that we can’t have a functioning democracy if we continue to hate each other this much. I don’t think Biden is stealing this election, but then again, I don’t think Trump stole the election in 2016. For the Democrats who are upset about the “Stop the Steal” stuff, they should remember that they tried to delegitimize Trump’s win four years ago just as much.

What this tells me is that our country is very sick right now, and it’s sad. If we can’t even agree that our elections are free and fair, if we can’t even agree that COVID-19 is a threat and actually exists, then I don’t know where we stand. I get upset when I read your blog sometimes, but it at least exposes me to differing views. When I read, I try to listen and understand. I think we all need to take a deep breath, do a little prayer and meditation, maybe eat a meal together, and try to actually listen to each other. We’ll probably find out we have a lot more in common with each other than we may have thought!

    • Hi Nick, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I completely agree – no matter who wins, I pray that our country can come together and heal and see each other as neighbors/friends/coworkers/loved ones/fellow Americans, rather than political โ€œopponents.โ€ You bring up so many terrific points here. Thank you for sharing this great insight! Hugs and love xox

  44. OH, my goodness! I echo every, single one of your words here. A friend sent me the link to your post this morning, and I was so happy to come here and “meet” you. To say I am sick in heart over what just happened is putting it mildly. I canNOT believe Biden, or as you said so accurately, Harris, will be our president. How can this be? I will forever believe the election was stolen from our great President Trump, and this is fraud in its most blatant, horrific form. Only GOD is bigger than this. I will always believe that President Trump was anointed and ordained by God for such a time as this, and I will always wrestle with why God didn’t allow him to have a second term. You are so right – all the good he did will be undone and then even more evil. I thought God’s people had humbled themselves, prayed, sought His face, and turned from their wicked ways, but evidently we didn’t humble ourselves enough. I still discern so much sin in the ranks of Christianity, and maybe that is why God is humbling us more – if we won’t humble of our own accord, He will humble us – as you said, bring us to rock bottom. I thought we were there, but evidently not. THANK YOU for speaking the truth here and for so eloquently saying what is on so many of our hearts right now. God bless you!

    • Thank you so much Cheryl! Iโ€™m so glad this resonated with you!! And thanks to your friend for passing this along! I know, how everything is playing out makes me just so sad. Gotta pray hard for our nation!! Hugs and love xox

  45. I hear you, Caralyn. I also pray for your safety where you’re living in NYC. While I think we’ll be still okay if Biden wins, I remain hopeful that Trump will prevail after all the voter fraud and illegal ballots are uncovered. We definitely have massive voter fraud here in Wisconsin. Some voting districts reported 105% of registered voters voting! We had an over 90% turnout, which is ridiculously unrealistic. Thousands of dead people miraculously cast mail-in ballots. And this is just one state! We probably won’t know who won before January as it’s going with all the legal battles in several states. Anyone declaring victory right now runs the risk of having it retracted later. One positive note on all of this is that all the voter fraud that’s been going on for decades will likely get exposed and, hopefully, be reformed.

But regardless of who wins POTUS, I think the Senate and Supreme Court will keep our country from totally going down the tubes in the next four years. We need to keep the faith and pray for our nation. Blessings.

    • Thank you so much Mel, I appreciate that. If youโ€™re still holding out hope, then I will!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree. So glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  46. Hello. You are welcome to your own opinion as well as this is your platform. However, I’m confused of what country you all have been living in these past 4 years. I stopped reading after I read Trump brought this country together…when? God calls us to have compassion for each other. Yet, this man has NONE. I will pray for you and others on this blog. We need to accept God’s will. Period. Regardless of who is in office, I look to God as my helper. If everything was going Trump’s way, you would be celebrating. Yet, because the American people are tired and have had enough of what has been going on these past 4 years, it’s now Biden’s fault and the news station. The Bible is clear, since you brought religion into it. Some people are just blinded.

    • Hi Ayesha, I appreciate you joining the dialogue and sharing your thoughts. The America of the past four years I was referring to was one with incredible job creation and a booming economy, soaring stock market, and the greatest headway in pro-life legislature of any presidency. The most recent economic ramifications of COVID-19 and the rise of BLM rioting has torn this country apart, yes. But I do not believe that was President Trumpโ€™s doing. I too, look to God as my helper. He is all of our helper. And I pray that no matter what the future, He will help our nation heal, and I sincerely look forward to that day. Thank you so much for stopping by. Hugs and love xox

      • Unpacking the last four years: scrapping the pandemic response team, alienating our allies, cozying up to Putin and Kim Jong Un, making fun of masks, holding superspreader rallies which led to deaths, stochastic terrorism via dogwhistling, calling women housewives, having a history of cheating on his wives, yesterday’s COVID levels breaking records, trashing the election process, great depression levels of unemployment.

So glad you got your pro-life agenda and 401k.

  47. I think this is a succinct view on political issue that touches every part of the world. However, I believe that the will of God will always stand for America. Just keep your faith and keep standing for the just course.

    • Thank you Aquila, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Yes – gotta keep the faith! Hugs and love xox

  48. God does not play politics, friend. Jesus did say: โ€œGive to Caeser what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.โ€ God certainly does not have a favourite presidential candidate, especially when both are so blatantly evil. You have lost me here. Salvation or ruin will not come from whoever wins this presidency.

You have your political opinion, but please, leave God, the God of ALL people, out of it. God, the God of ALL people, does not have a political agenda. Do not use the name of the Lord in vain. Do not use the name of the Lord to justify evil. Do not use God to push your politics, whatever they may be. Do not SPEAK for God… who are any of us to determine what His perspective might be? This is blasphemous and arrogant. To think that God sides with you politically must require some incredible arrogance.

God is not interested in your politics. Politics are of this world, not of his Kingdom. We must not worship anyone but God, because every leader is flawed, because they are HUMAN. You will not find your salvation in Trump or Biden or Kanye. Your salvation is not tied to politics. Focus on the real Kingdom instead of following flawed men on earth who seek nothing but their own misguided glory.

You are a smart woman. But this post has lost me because using God for politics is the way evil has operated throughout history. Shouldnโ€™t we all know better by now?

    • Youโ€™re right about that, Marian, God does not play politics! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. There certainly are shortfalls on both sides of the aisle. I have expressed my opinion on abortion, and a I cannot in good conscience vote for a candidate that supports abortion. That issue, i DO believe that God takes a firm stand on. So in essence, I am voting for a platform, not a person. Thanks for joining the dialogue. Hugs and love xox

  49. I have been convinced for a while that both candidates only had the power to steer the ship downward for exactly the reason you state here. America’s pride in her own power and her trust in her own strength must be laid low so that through her repentance and God’s grace the church may once again become the Kingdom example it needs to be.

    • Thank you Bonnie, I really appreciate that, and you passing this along. Iโ€™m hoping for a miracle with ya! Hugs and love xox

    • Hi Ali! Oh gosh thank you so much. I was so nervous to publish this one, so I really appreciate your support. Praying hard for our country! Hugs and love xox

  50. Biden and Harris represent harbingers of โ€œmoral corruption and strifeโ€ to you? And Harris is the furthest left member of Congress…

I *really* donโ€™t think youโ€™re paying attention to whatโ€™s going on so much as youโ€™re chugging The Juice.

FWIW, if you want examples of far left members of Congress, look at Bernie or NYCโ€™s very own AOC. The most left thing about Harris is the state she represents. (Left Coast/Best Coast…woo!)

If you want examples of moral corruption…I dunno, pick a Trump. Any Trump. Or look at any GOP Senator who was in office during McConnellโ€™s blockade of Merrick Garland for SCOTUS. Then look at how they blithely ignored their own words when they assured 2016 America that theyโ€™d behave exactly the same with a GOP president. Here we are in 2020 and they may as all be wearing signs that say โ€œIโ€™m a big, fat liarโ€ – because that whole pants on fire thing just seems too dangerous. For that matter, letโ€™s just make them signs that say theyโ€™re racists, too, because at the core I truly believe thatโ€™s at the root of those actions. My evidence? Trump took office on a campaign of undoing as much of what Obama accomplished in his two terms while still waving his Birther Movement flag.

The sheer hypocrisy of religion is one thing. The picking and choosing which parts of the Bible are important depending on how it impacts the reader personally. But the way allegedly religious folk can just overlook the lying, corrupt and downright inhumane actions of the GOP is almost as surprising as their ability to forget how Jesus taught us to take care of the least among us – yโ€™know by, like giving them healthcare? – or that Jesus was a Black man.

Actually, now I get it. The Religious Wrong and the GOP are perfect pals. Just a bunch of liars and hypocrites enabling each otherโ€™s delusions of goodness.

It makes me really sad to see people under such a veil of obliviousness.

    • Thanks Galby for this reflection. I completely agree – AOC and Bernie Are the farthest left of the left. Neither side of the aisle is a beacon of goodness. There are some good positions on both platforms, But there are certain things that I simply cannot budge from. Hugs and love xox

  51. Well! You are a source of great wisdom and humanity when it comes to recovery, but on politics your perspective looks delusional from here. We have watched this election in disbelief that anyone could spend more than five minutes before concluding that Trump is a dangerous self absorbed narcissist, who trades on division and hate. That almost half of the USA have voted for him causes despair about the moral state of your country (not that we are in any better state with another liar in charge). The old โ€˜socialistโ€™ label comes out again when Biden and Harris are a million miles from any such agenda. And another big song and dance about โ€˜pro lifeโ€™ for a president who has no interest in saving the lives of the poor, who has no interest in the millions of lives that will be lost and ruined by global warming, who takes no care for the lives of people put at risk by his erratic and dangerous foreign policy whims. The suggestion that your liberties are at risk from Biden et al is ludicrous – contrasted with a president who risks the health of democracy to meet his personal needs, who thinks liberty means evading taxes and owning guns and maximising profits at the expense of the less advantaged, who is careless of the lives of black Americans put in danger by his rhetoric etc etc., and incidentally, your brilliantly successful โ€œTrumpโ€ economy is in truth a consequence of Obama since Trump hasnโ€™t been there long enough to make a real difference (until his disastrous and anti-life handling of coronavirus). Sorry, to come on strong about this but from here, there is a huge sigh of relief that Biden is about to win and relief that the USA might now recover some moral authority in the world.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and joining the conversation. Iโ€™m sorry this didnโ€™t resonate with you. This is my last political post for hopefully a longgggg time. Hugs and love xox

  52. Whether on a societal or personal level the concept of “rock bottom” means different things based on our assumptions about what is desirable or not… I would say that the past four years has been rock bottom for our nation’s political discourse. But, I can see that you see rock bottom coming. I’m sure that we can be posting our different positions… but I believe in relationships and free-will, so I see more connecting us that dividing us. We do not need to follow the whims of politicians, protesters, or counter-protesters.

    Avoid the mobs. – Oscar

    • Thank you Oscar for sharing your thoughts. I love that – letโ€™s look for the connections rather than the differences! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs and love xox

  53. You know I appreciate the candour of your posts, in this case it is clear that whatever happens the fear that grips so many people can only be resolved by applying the principles of of Christianity.
Technically all Christians have already cast their vote for God’s Kingdom so what human rulers set out in their manifesto.
They are ants on the universal sidewalk – God’s Kingdom will remedy the mess they create here. So stay strong in the faith.

    • Thank you so much jw, I appreciate your thoughts on this. Youโ€™re right – ants!! Hugs and love xox

  54. Amen and amen. What has been going through my head, and maybe I will write about by premonition, is that for the End Times to happen, the world needs to destabilize by removing the USA as a world power. I do want wish to live through it, but even then, my grandchildren may live through it. Your insights may be on the money, but regardless, the next four years – unless they throw out the constitution and stay in power – will not be pleasant. Yet, we fix our eyes on God and we can endure.

    • Thanks so much Kalvin. Youโ€™re absolutely right!! He meets us there!! Hugs and love xox

  55. This is so well said. Encapsulates a lot of my own thoughts, and goes a step further into difficult places we need to face right now.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you so much!! Iโ€™m so glad it resonated with you!! I appreciate you stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  56. This post resonated with me as I believe God will bring America to its knees. This year has to a degree but not enough. By the way I donโ€™t live in America

    • Iโ€™m go glad this hit home with you! Youโ€™re right. Unfortunately Iโ€™m afraid 2020 was only the beginning. Big prayers!! Hugs and love xox

  57. I’m just reading this on Sunday morning, when the Biden Harris ticket has been crowned. May it be for the eventual good despite the pain we will have to endure. Certainly doesn’t feel right with so many allegations hanging in the air.

  58. Hi, reading your blog was quite refreshing and although I am an atheist, a Biden supporter and an advocate for the pro-choice stance, I like listening to what the other side has to say. I do believe that America is a diverse country with diverse opinions and that allowing employers to discriminate under the guise of ‘religious freedom’ is not equality. Not everybody in America is a conservative and a Christian. We have so many diverse faiths and people like me who do not have faith at all. And secondly, granting people the right to abortion doesn’t stop you from having a child or continuing your pro-life beliefs. It just gives a choice to people who believe differently. I also do not believe that Trump’s handling of the coronavirus was adequate. His actions to repeal Obamacare took away affordable healthcare for millions of Americans. I know that no politician is perfect because they all are human. And I will definetly not stop supporting you because as an anorexic person who weighs 38 kilos, you inspire me. Good luck on your journey as a blogger.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and for giving me this valuable feedback. Youโ€™re right – we are all human – every single one of us! Hugs and love xox

  59. I always enjoy your insights and willingness to share your heart and soul. Indeed, having been to the bottom and climbed out, I can and do empathize with your feelings and perspective. In my life my greatest struggle has been to “Let go, and Let God.” In the case of this election, I am finally at that point. May God continue to bless you on your journey. If I had ever had a daughter, I only pray she would have been as strong and committed as you are. Your parents and friends must be very proud of you. I am. Stay well and safe with love, peace, and grace, DrD

    • Thank you oh so much DrD!, that really means a lot. Gosh, youโ€™re kind to say that. Yes! Let go and let God! Big hugs to you xox

  60. Your post resonated with me on several levels. As a recovering addict, I have learned from my own experiences to be suspicious whenever someone complicates something that should be simple. Your analogy about having to hit rock bottom as a nation is powerful. Change doesn’t happen as long as the pain of remaining the same isn’t greater. It’s defintely a challenging season. Fortunately, God often weaves beautiful stories out of our greatest storms. Blessings.

    • Thank you so much! Iโ€™m so glad it resonated with you! Yes – change often requires a bit of pain. We can trust in His goodness! Hugs and love xox

    • Thank you so much Kristi Ann! Thatโ€™s so awesome! Amen to that – He loved us all first! And yes – God keeps us going! Hugs and love xox

  62. I disagree with your political stance (respectfully), I believe America has hit a political rock bottom for a different reason. You can tell alot about a person by how they take to losing.

100 % agree about hitting Rock Bottom. It took my rock bottom (my suicide attempt) to allow me to begin healing.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your heart and your story. Youโ€™re right – Rock bottom is a powerful foundation upon which to build your life. (I definitely know from personal experience too.) thanks for this powerful response. Hugs and love xox

  63. I am sorry Caralyn I disagree with you; I and a majority of Canadians. are relieved that Biden won. In Canada Bernie Sanders is not so radical; he would be considered center left. We are not at “rock bottom not even close”. Canada is ranked the #1 country in the world in 2019 for Quality of Life. We have also been ranked as the third best country in the world. The US is way down below 25th in both this rankings. Socialism is NOT a bad word in Canada. We care about the well being of our fellow citizens and fully expect our governments to put the common good above corporate profits and the search for wealth. Canada is a Christian County [In the 2011 census, 39 per cent of Canadians identified themselves as Roman Catholic and 27 per cent as Protestant.] I can’t but note that Pope Frances, inserting himself into the Republican presidential race, suggested that Donald J. Trump โ€œis not Christianโ€ because of the harshness of his campaign promises to deport more immigrants and force Mexico to pay for a wall along the border. He said further, โ€œA person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,โ€ Francis said when a reporter asked him about Mr. Trump.

    • Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! It sounds like Canada has a lot of great things going for them! I did not know that about the Popeโ€™s words. I am shocked that he inserted himself into political discourse! Wow. I appreciate you stopping by. Hugs and love xox

  64. Love! Love! Love this post!! There is a huge circle of warriors God has purposefully prepped for this time. You, for certain, are one of them! Absolutely agree in your words. We’ve been there! We know! The country will need to hit rock bottom. See how wayward their lives have truly been. Go through their own dark nights of the soul. But, in the end, rise with their spirits fully in tact to take this country back!! The road to getting there is the unknown

    • Thank you so much Denise! What a kind thing to say ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™m so glad this resonated with you! Yes – we can only heal and โ€œgo upโ€ from there! Hugs and love xox

  65. I missed this one. I’ve been hiding from Facebook and Instagram for a week, but I’ve still been just as active on WordPress, so I don’t know how I missed it… anyway, this is really good. Thank you for being brutally honest, as always.

    • Thank you so much Greg! I donโ€™t blame you – social media has been a scary place recently!! Hugs and love xox

  66. It is so interesting to read and hear the reaction of American and world citizens to the election of the Biden-Harris ticket. I have heard many say we had already hit rock bottom during Donald Trump’s presidency: morally, environmentally, in civility, in international relations, in personal pride, with immigration, trust in government, etc. I am sympathetic to some of these arguments, having found much of our president’s conduct deplorable. Above all, however, I acknowledge the utter complexity of these issues. Many of us tend to feel we have hit rock bottom when society moves away from our personal beliefs. Is it not true to say that every leader has the potential to both exalt and to debase? And perhaps even at the same time? President-elect Biden’s position on abortion is concerning to conservatives, while his stance on other issues may be encouraging to conservatives. The mix of politics, pride, power, and ideology is always complex and provoking. Whatever Biden’s liberal leanings, I hope to see the return of civility, of cooperation, and of general human respect. Best wishes for navigating this new chapter in our country’s history. I know I need it!

    • Thank you Roger for your reflection. Youโ€™re right about that: politics is always complex! Thanks for this interesting food for thought! Hugs and love xox

  67. “Sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom, in order for there to be extraordinary change.”… Absolute truth. When we are forced on our knees, and the only vantage point, is a point of prayer, that’s when ture lasting change starts happening.

    • Yes! Youโ€™re right Anna, being forced to our knees isnโ€™t always a bad thing! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  68. Great post and absolutely true! While I believe the prophets speaking victory for Trump, I also believe that God could allow Biden to win to shake us (the church and the people) to the core even more deeply than this year has. We can be a stubborn people, and God loves us enough to allow the most difficult situations to turn us around. Thank you for sharing your story. You have a great testimony that is helpful and encouraging to so many, and you are a wise woman.

  69. Ah, from the heart. I love reading blogs like this. You are scared. I am scared and I live thousands of miles away. The American election spilled across into every European country with a culture. In my own beautiful country of England the media has attempted to make every white person feel ashamed of their skin. Violence towards white people has increased to never previously known levels and the whole country is poised for terror attacks. I’m pagan and as such do not believe in your god and demons but I know a bad thing when I feel it. Using race to divide was the lowest move you could make in politics. I will never forgive the left for this move.

    • Hi Samantha! aw, thank you so much! Gosh, I am so touched by your kind words. Oh wow – I’m sorry to hear that our tumultuous political situation has impacted your community. Gosh, I hate to hear that. I agree – we need to seek to unite rather than divide. so glad you stopped by. sending hugs and love xox

  70. Wow! Great perspective. This was exactly what I thought when Trudeau won in my country (Canada) and won again. I see a fellow Canadian in the comment section, saying we haven’t hit rock bottom in Canada. No. Not yet. But I don’t think we’ve ever had worse leadership. Morally, we’re plummeting. We’ve been plummeting for a long time in order to elect a man who stood on nothing but abortion, an even more radical gay rights agenda, and legalizing pot. That was all the platform he had. (That and the budget would balance itself.) Rock bottom is the book of Revelation, so I think we’ve got a ways to go. But we’re in trouble. We’ve lost a lot of rights in my country. Trudeau has trampled all over our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, essentially legislating away our constitutionally-guaranteed rights of freedom of speech and religion. I would say the fellow Canadian in the comment section has been lulled to sleep. Not very well-informed at what’s really going on. We’re all in for a rude awakening. I wouldn’t want to live in this world if I didn’t know God was still in control.

    • Thank you so much for your insight on this. Youโ€™re right – there is so much comfort in knowing that God is in control! Hugs and love xox

  71. Hello BBB, I laughed at the same line as the previous poster — but there was so much else in there and I just want to thank you for courageously sharing parts of your story. However old it makes me sound, I am so grateful for younger people writing eloquently about their faith, struggles, losses and our Big God. That is so often my theme…so much bigger than we think. Able to turn around any situation where people turn around from their own self-help and realize when they can’t, God can. You’re a great writer and doing a great job! Thanks for liking a post of mine too ๐Ÿ™‚ Sisters in Christ!

    • Thank you friend. Yes! God is our strength and can get us through even the darkest days! Hugs and love xox
