UNITY…OR ELSE

I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide, but to unify. The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season — a time to build, a time to reap, a time to sow. And a time to heal. This is the time to heal in America.” – Joe Biden 11/7/2020

Saturday afternoon in New York. A certain gentleman and I were out on a bike ride. It was a simply gorgeous day — 74 degrees, partly sunny. One of those days that feels like it should be in early September, rather than the second week of November.

And while we were out, all of a sudden, all the car horns on the Upper East Side start honking — drivers just laying on their horns. And people came pouring out of their apartments onto the sidewalks and streets: cheering, yelling, chanting. Apartment windows flung open and tenants leaned out, banging on pot and pans. And in that moment, all of Manhattan erupted in a frenzy: “GO BIDEN!!” But truthfully, what I heard more was, “F#*% TRUMP!”

Strangers on the street, literally high fiving, giving each other thumbs up, cheering in glee: “Thank God he’s gone!” For the last eight months during the pandemic, New Yorkers have been avoiding eye contact and shunning interactions for fear of contracting COVID-19, but in that moment, everyone was on the same winning, anti-Trump team: Biden’s.

It was surreal.

And to be honest, it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Despite the fact that the driving force behind the camaraderie was a shared hatred of one President Donald Trump, the tangible spirit of “oneness” was overwhelmingly inspiring. There was an air of electricity and joy flowing through NYC that I have never experienced in all of the nine years I’ve lived here.

It was a wonder to behold.

Later that night, as my friends and I ate celebratory pizza and watched Joe’s (premature) acceptance speech, I found myself fixated on the rhetoric of his words. Particularly about unity.

That was the buzzword of the night. Unity. We’re not red states, we’re not blue states, we’re the United States.

And looking around at streets full of boarded up shops, and seeing people high fiving with “F-Trump,” and listening to the righteous indignation from blatantly biased anchors on cable news organizations — that literally cut off Donald Trump mid-speech, claiming he was spewing “lies” — it made me honestly question…what does Unity mean?

Or rather, what do they think “unity” means?

Unity…

Here you’ve got AOC’s terrifyingly radical tweet, calling to blacklist anyone who worked for, or supported the Trump Campaign, sparking the Trump Accountability Project. I guess unity means doxing anyone with differing political beliefs.

Or — how about this personal incident. My prolife post from last Thursday: “Sometimes We Have to Hit Rock Bottom” – where I expressed my deep concern over the pro-abortion reality of a Biden/Harris administration — was censored on Facebook. This is my fifth pro-life article that was censored on Facebook. FIFTH. So I guess, unity also means silencing any voices that hold differing view points or beliefs. Just add me to the list with the Washington Post.

It’s beginning to feel like, unity…or else.

Unity — on it’s face, it’s exactly what the country needs. After eight months of devastation from the Coronavirus, and the summer of civil unrest, and the demonization of political opposites here during election season, America really does need a “time to heal” — as Biden so angelically put it in his speech — accepting the media’s proclamation as President Elect.

Which is absolutely true. Walking around NYC post-announcement this weekend, it was a phenomenal experience. People had a joyful energy. Strangers were kind. Exuberant, even. There was love in the air. And a lightness.

Biden closed his speech last night quoting from the Bible…a bold move coming from a self proclaimed “Catholic” that not only supports abortion, but late-term abortion: up until the moment of birth.

He quoted from the third chapter of Ecclesiastes: “The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season — a time to build, a time to reap, a time to sow. And a time to heal. This is the time to heal in America.

Which is a very very interesting choice for this pro-choice President. Because read just a few verses later, beyond the quippy one-liner that sounds really good in a speech, and you will come across this little doosey:

God will bring into judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time to judge every deed.”
Eccl. 3:17

I will certainly be held accountable for all the horrible things I have done in my past. Hello, anorexia is full of lying and manipulation and deception, and self-destruction. And I am guilty of all of it.

And like me, so will Joe, and Kamala, and every single one of us. We will all be called to account for every deed we did, said, stood for — or voted — for.

So. Unity.

Where does this leave us?

It is my deepest prayer that in these coming weeks — where things are surely going to get more interesting, election-wise — that we may come to appreciate that “unity” does not mean steam rolling everyone into submission and blacklisting or silencing any dissenting voices. But rather, a true, earnest spirit of cooperation. Where we can compromise. Where a difference of opinion will result in conversation, rather than riots and protests that require businesses to literally board up their windows and doors.

Unity – where we can all feel seen, and heard, valued, and protected — especially the most marginalized and vulnerable.

And this is the last thing: Also in this Ecclesiastes chapter that Biden pulled from, in verse 11, we are reminded that “[God] has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart…”

Therefore, let us remember that God is in control, and will work everything for good in its time. But that perhaps, we can unify with our hearts set on eternity.

And perhaps, unity can be found in our efforts to help one another on our walk with Christ, towards eternity.

That we can spur each other along in our quest for goodness, for holiness, for rightness with God. So that when we do come face to face with our Creator to be judged, He can look at us and say, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’

“This is what the Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” Ez 37:5

  1. And I can’t but help to wonder why he quoted from the Bible twice in one day, that I had seen, while planning to kill God-ordained lives in the womb. It is akin to mass murdering people in gas chambers all week and being an elder in church on Sunday. What is the meaning of God and the Bible to him, really? I can’t but help seeing trouble down the road.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I cannot say that I know his heart, but I certainly do not support his public support for abortion. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

      1. I am vociferously pro-life. A very militant Buddhist vegan friend insisted our cat be spayed – to find during the op that the poor animal was far pregnant. (Same friend that goes about preacging that cruelty begins with a fork but she didn’t mind doing it to a cat and she’s an animal rights activist of note,) After the op, the little critter almost went insane searching for her babies and eventually mothererd her neutered friend. The cat’s pain and anxiety was too much to bear and that is where I drew the line. No abortionist will ever “endure” my respect. Love from Cape Town.

  2. I really wish I could say what I think about this, but I never do that to other people’s blogs Caralyn. It’s not right. I hope you are feeling great! 😊

    1. Thanks John – I appreciate you stopping by!! I hope you wrote about it on yours – would love to hear your thoughts! 🙂 Hugs and love xox

      1. Hi Caralyn, I have zero political content on my meager photoblog, there are plenty of news outlets for that. Be well! 😊

  3. Amen, Sister. And of course Facebook rears its ugly head again. 🙁 If it’s any consolation, the ancient Egyptians also practices Cancel Culture. The new Pharaoh literally erased all records on the temple walls of the previous dynasty. To quote the same book – Ecclesiastes, nothing new under the sun. 😉

I honestly think Americans have forgotten what is written plainly on our coins. one side says One Nation Under God. The other side says E pluribus unum – out of many, one. It’s not steamrollering over opposition, but genuine unity.

The next time you pick up a quarter, stop and thank God for our country.

    1. Thanks friend. You’re so right – one nation under God. THATs the unity we so desperately need! Hugs and love xox

  4. When you write political, I rarely agree with you. Yet, the ultimate compliment I can give you is that I read you religiously, Caralyn! I always admire your well-thought out and well-developed POV.

On the other hand, when you write about sea bass, etc. I 100% agree with you! For the exact same reasons as above – had your recipe Friday and it was terrific! Thank you!

See, we can all find common ground, if we’re willing to try to look for it! Be well…

    1. Hi Arthur! Thanks for saying that! I promise this is my last political post for a longgggg time! Haha oh good! So glad you liked the recipe!! I so agree! — thats UNITY!! Thank you sea bass!!! Hahaha 🙂 have an awesome night! Hugs and love xox

  5. It’s not over, sister in Christ! There’s major spiritual violence happening right now. Just because the media has said it’s decided, doesn’t mean it’s fact. I’ve been off social media since September and fiercely praying. May evil be removed and may God uproot it completely. Truth is coming whether ppl want to accept it or not, but I will continue to trust in Jesus! God bless!

    1. Thanks Amber for this wonderful encouragement. I agree – we need lots of prayer right now! I will join you in that important movement! Hugs and love xox

  6. It’s weird that you seem to have been targeted by Facebook.
Now, as for unity…YES! It’s high time. I think it’s hard to deny that the last four years have been a daily exercise in divisiveness. That people are happy to return to normal politics from the experiment of this outsider administration.
I think the lesson to acknowledge as we move forward is that unity in government needs (just my opinion, here, I’m no Founding Father) to mean America is a place for everyone to live with a reasonable expectation of equality and personal freedom. Living by a biblical doctrine is a choice that needs to be protected for you and any others that *choose* that lifestyle. It’s not a lifestyle to be legislated and mandated for others.
If we can bear that in mind, then I think we can find unity. If we allow ourselves to return to something like DJT’s or the Religious Right’s or Tea Party’s politics, then I think we can reflect of the myriad protests over the last for years to learn that we won’t be living in unity on any widespread scale.
I love that you got to experience the NYC jubilation first hand! Our celebrations here in Portland were emotional, but smaller. I can’t imagine what it was like there. I imagine history will put it in the same class of public celebration as the end of WWII!

    1. Thanks Galby for sharing your thoughts! Yes – unity!! High time indeed. Yeah the jubilation was surreal! Hugs and love xox

  7. You are a person of faith, and I believe that all such people should lift up Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, praying that they will heed the promptings of the Holy Spirit in all they do. We can do the world a great service by encouraging Far Left and Far Right to come to the center and truly listen to each other. Above all, believers must never lose hope that unity is possible.
Emotions from the election will die down; then the true work begins. May we all remain willing to do our part for the greater good. Hugs and love– Mike

    1. Thank you Mike for sharing your heart on this. That is such a great point. And I will definitely pray for them. You’re right – we can all be unified in prayer for the good of our country for sure. That’s an absolute truth! Hugs and love xox

  8. What would you have done if someone wanted to high-five you while yelling “F*** Trump?” As a matter of practical self-defense, I hope you would give the high-five back, smile, and walk away. Saying that you voted for Trump could have been dangerous during that display of us vs. them “unity!” I know it was inspiring to see so many people on the same page, but that description gave me chills. I’d have felt like a closet Jew walking around at a Nazi rally.

After posting a couple fluff pieces over the weekend to avoid the election for a few days, I drafted something about the election for my Wednesday article. It’s based on Romans 13 and concludes that governments are instituted by God for His purposes. Unfortunately, godless Babylon served His purposes for Judah and then was destroyed. What’s in store for the USA when God ordains a government led by a complicit baby killer?

Sigh. And this is why I should have avoided the topic… But I am glad you are well and enjoying your gentlemen! You remain in my prayers! As always, Jeff

    1. Oooooh I can’t wait to read your Wednesday post! Oh yes – I blended in with the masses … (got to work on my method acting haha) but you’re right. I’ve learned to keep my political opinions to myself. Thank you, Jeff. That truly means a lot 🙂 it is a tough topic, but I am excited to hear your wisdom on it! 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  9. Thank you for posting this. I am sad. My daughter-in-law posted this weekend that Biden went to mass and Trump played golf. This post was for her Christian family members—like see, he goes to church, not your guy. And my heart broke. It’s not about”going to church.” You can stand in a garage all you want—it still will not make you a car! I’m afraid what is going to happen to a country and a people who love God, honor life from the time of conception, and believe in the 1st amendment. I do believe it will be “unity” if we only say the right thing (their thing). I pray this not be true. I do know that God is sovereign. I just don’t know the lesson he is giving us. I do know that regardless of what happens, Jesus is still on the throne! ❤️

    1. Thank you so much Andrea! You’re absolutely right – Jesus is still on the throne, regardless! Love the garage metaphor! Hugs and love xox

  10. For the last 4 years the president was given no quarter. People who supported him were ridiculed, mocked, cancelled and sometimes worse. Now many of those same people are celebrating the victory of a man who has spent nearly 50 years in Washington D.C. doing what exactly, no one can really articulate. It was, again, a choice between horrible and very bad. It really doesnt matter what side of the isle you fall on politically, national politics have been broken in the U.S. for literally decades.

What’s new now is how its evolved in to a cultural war. We will see in the coming weeks months and years if the winning side enacts grace or is punitive. As a pagan and a libertarian I see what is happening and I see this as one of the most dangerous times in our history, certainly in my life. Trump is now the key to the whole thing, with a few words he can send his 70 million (yes 70 million people voted for him) into a frenzy. Washington is broken, it was before Trump it was before I was born, its no longer for the people by the people its now for the “right people” and woe unto you if you didnt chose the correct side.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this Karac. You’re right, the choice was pretty bleak but platform wise, it couldn’t have been more clear. Glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  11. Hey,
Thank you for writing this post. Your description of the atmosphere in New York is great news.
I understand many people are upset and frustrated, unfortunately that’s always the case in elections. I feared the outcome, whatever it was, would herald more violence and unrest. Instead celebration fills your streets!
I hope this is the start of a good four years for the US.

Re: the abortion argument, I’d like to understand the pro-life position better. It’s often linked to faith and it’s a white-hot poker of an issue where few people are willing to sit and discuss it calmly and clearly. Would you be willing to talk?

      1. LOVE YOU Back. YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL face and aura. GOD IS WITH YOU. YOU were given full power for GOOD. Continue using it as you are. You are making people’s lives better. NEVER GIVE UP!. THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING. #blessed #warrior #Jesus

      2. Aw thank you!!! You’re too sweet and I am so humbled by your kindness! Hugs and love xox

  12. You need to find a better use for you time than dedicating your life to the internalized misogynistic view of controlling women’s bodies. We are more important than a pregnancy. It doesn’t matter if we had sex or a fetus is human. Get a grip and a new hobby

    1. Lol and YOU (as important as you obviously think you are, Misty) wouldn’t be here without a pregnancy…did you think about that? …Because your comment sounds like an oxymoron.

  13. God knows what’s in our hearts and we can’t hide from him.

“There is no darkness or deep shadow Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves” Job 34:22.

Offering our prayers to God is much needed to open the hearts and minds to “Truth” – not subjective phenomenological (t)ruth, but God’s Truth (if we walk with Christ, we know what is right and what is wrong. The Holy Spirit in us = awareness. With Christ within us, Truth is intrinsic.

Subjective truth (is all about “me”, it’s a self absorbed reality that has no sense of Godly love for the “other” ). Unfortunately this is now the mainstay and perpetuated by mainstream media and social media platforms only have one narrative. This is what is brainwashing/conditioning young minds. Critical thinking – what’s that? In a way we are at fault too with our “like” and “cancel” culture. I know I’m also guilty being a participant in social media – Instagram, FB, Twitter etc. I have since cancelled Netflix, FB, Twitter, and deleted all mainstream news apps from my phone.

I also switched from using safari with their tracking built in to brave browsers. I’m tired of being told my data harvesting what I should read, listen to etc.

Thanks for your article and always insightful.

    1. You’re so right – He knows our innermost thoughts and heart. Oh wow good for you for canceling social media! So inspiring!! I agree – data privacy is real!! Amen! Big prayers are needed! Hugs and love xox

  14. Love this, Caralyn! Unity is so desperately needed in this country but it needs to be true unity, and that calls for seeing others the way Paul said we should in his letter to the Philippians: Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. (Philippians 2:3-4) Unfortunately, words like unity and tolerance have a very different, self-centered meaning in our society than they used to. But we need to keep praying for true unity. God bless you!

    1. Thank you so much Roy! You’re right – unity is desperately needed – but not the self serving unity of today but the humble, other focused definition of yesterday. Hugs and love xox

  15. Again, you say exactly what I think. I am struggling with so many feelings right now, but trying daily to surrender it all to the Lord and embrace His peace.

    1. aw thank you Adrienne. I’m so glad this resonated with you!! Yes – definitely a flurry of feelings right now. Hang in there. He’s got you in the palm of His hand!! Hugs and love xox

  16. There are too many Republicans and too many Democrats in government. Once elected, the political party label ought to be replaced with public servant. It’s not what’s best for the party but what’s best for the country. Sadly, we voters are to blame. We’ve allowed politics to become paramount so that now we have spoiled children — Senate Majority Leader, Speaker of the House, Senate Minority Leader, etc. — governing the country. Many of the problems facing this country could be addressed through discussion and compromise; instead, our spoiled children want things their way or they’ll take their ball and go home. What a sad state of affairs.

    1. Thank you so much JC for sharing your thoughts on this. I agree – discussion and compromise! Hugs and love xox

  17. Clearly healing within a world of divisiveness will take many lifetimes to achieve. However in a broader context mainly the Yugas of Hindu texts, we are in last 5 years of the Ascending Kali Yuga which began 2,200 years ago (2700 years time span in total) with a 300 year cusp or buffer period. The Descending Kali Yuga began in 6676 BCE. The Kali Yugas are the bottom of this grand cycle 0f 24,000 years. Kali is the Goddess of death and destruction in order to start again. The Kali Yugas are defined by business and money and are the most divisive of all the yugas. The Ascending Kali Yuga ends in 2025 (5 years from now and if followed by a 300 year buffer or cusp period while the Dwapara Yuga takes root – a moral age).

Regarding Unity. I defend the right of anyone here to say what they believe as long as it doesn’t engage in character assignation of another. I confronted someone on a FB post who was calling people “stupid” for supporting Trump and claimed they were raised by “f#2king narrow minded parents” while at the same time were calling for respect of others. I attempted to show that by using inflammatory rhetoric was not a sign of respect of those that disagree even if it was done around people who in this particular NYC bubble agree. How is calling someone “stupid” and claiming that they were raised by narrow-minded parents display respect? They did not respond to my comment.

I support a woman’s right to choose whether or not they want to have a child. As a healer I don’t recommend abortion. I recommend that the pregnant woman send the spirit of the child back to the light asking him, her or it to kindly return to the Oneness or God. When this happens there is a miscarriage. Conversely I have advised couples who are having difficulty conceiving whether the woman has had an abortion. If the answer is yes I encourage the woman and/or the couple to do a ritual to release the spirit of the child back to the light. This makes a way for women to have the baby they choose to have.

For those of you who are pro-choice I applaud your right to speak out, because that is your right. And I stand by it. What I did not care for is being told I am going to hell because I advocate conscious miscarriage.

My entire life has been towards healing and that has not changed.

    1. Hi Kai! I agree, healing takes time. But I have hope that we can see some fruits of our effort here too. Thank you for sharing the intresting info. I agree – we need more respect, particularly on Social
Media! So glad you stopped by and sharing your heart. Hugs and love xox

  18. It’s funny that the call for unity comes from the party that spent the last four years not accepting the 2016 election. Four years of “Not my president”, four years of… well the list would take all night to write. Their idea of unity is a lot like their idea of non-partisanship which is “do what we tell you.” In the final analysis, should Trumps legal challenges fail, then we must move on. We pray for those in office and we preach the gospel while we still can.

  19. Unity can go both ways. Jesus said “A house divided against itself will not stand.” This means God’s side or the enemy’s side. It makes it very clear there are only two sides, difficult to take seriously in a gray world. We need to be united under Christ. That means living like He says together, getting the 10 commandments back in public places, ending abortion/murder, punishing those who do wrong, etc. Those things are against the platform of those socialists prematurely calling themselves chosen by God to rule. It would seem that would be a judgment against us, not worthy of celebration. God is not finished yet, however. I believe this is a warning and we need to pray diligently. Love your heart for life. Love you, as always, beautiful friend. Hugs!XO😄❤

    1. Thank you Tonya for sharing your thoughts and your heart. You’re right – God’s not finished!! And you’re so right – the Ten Commandments need to get back to the heart of society. Love you my dear friend. Have a beautiful evening! Hugs and love xox

  20. I do appreciate your conservative Christian voice. Sorry to hear that you are getting blocked, although not surprising.
Newsmax or Newsmax.com is a good conservative source for news.
I think all those that are celebrating Biden’s win are premature and they are going to be disappointed.

    1. Thank you friend. I’ll have to check out newsmax! Yes, you may be right – there is going to be a lot of legal run around in the next few weeks. It will be very interesting to see the results!! Hugs and love xox

      1. awesome, I can’t wait to check it out. thanks for passing it along. Hugs and love xox

  21. “And to be honest, it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Despite the fact that the driving force behind the camaraderie was a shared hatred of one President Donald Trump, the tangible spirit of “oneness” was overwhelmingly inspiring. There was an air of electricity and joy flowing through NYC that I have never experienced in all of the nine years I’ve lived here.”

Wow. I have to admit, that would not be my thoughts upon encountering that scene. It strikes me more as sadness. I pray they see there are better things to be unified over.

But, seriously, that is one of the things I admire about you, Caralyn. You have the ability and insight to see things I can’t and a talent for perceiving things from a direction I don’t. And isn’t that the point? You always make me think, and I am very grateful for that. 🙂
Have a wonderful week, lovely lady! 🤗

    1. Thank you Kenneth for sharing your heart on this. Yeah, it was beautifully sad. Very beautiful and yet very sad. Aw, you’re kind to say that my friend. And I admire your caring heart for friendship!! Have a wonderful week too!!! Hugs and love xox

  22. James 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. I enjoyed your post and all the comments as well. Keep up the good work. Robert in Tennessee

  23. What Biden stands for with the LGBTQ agenda, and abortion to unify with him is to unify with the unrighteous acts God clearly says He is against! No thank you…. when we do not draw the line for what we truly stand for as a christian we are allowing the enemy of our soul(satan) to have full reign in our life. Biden is the spider saying come into my web I’m your friend til you are devoured by him and his ungodly beliefs.(John 10:10). Blessings to you BBB,I enjoy your post’s.
    Julia

    1. Thank you Julia for sharing your thoughts! I love that analogy of the spider web!! True! Hugs and love xox

  24. Well written I feel your pain and hurt in this writing but more importantly I hear your concern for the future. Let us pray and know God will be accomplished in any way he needs to get it done.

  25. Thanks for the thoughts. Great insight. I posted this earlier on my FB page, and thought you’d enjoy it. “Whoever is the president of the United States has absolutely ZERO influence upon my DECISION to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Never has and never will.”

    Blessings

  26. I celebrated for Biden. I don’t have a big truck or boat with a Biden flag in the back. I just want a common sense approach to COVID-19.

    1. Thanks for sharing that, Peter. I hope and pray that we get COVID under control soon! Hugs and love xox

    1. Thank you so much Julie! I appreciate your thoughts. Yes – it’s going to be a long few weeks, I’m afraid. Hugs and love xox

  27. For the first time in 4 years there is hope, rather than despair. As to Dems not accepting 2016 result, Hillary gave a very polite concessions speech and asked everyone to give #45 a chance. Most people who do not win have trouble accepting the loss, but in time they do accept reality. Not sure this will happen this time. Before worrying about all the bad things the Republicans have said the Dems will do, how about waiting to see if there was any truth to the propaganda. Everyone deserves a chance to do the right thing and #45 had his. Stay safe and remain hopeful.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I do agree – everyone deserves a chance to do the right thing. Hugs and love xox

  28. This was so good, Caralyn! I think there was a lot of positivity and truth in Biden’s speech that I would mostly agree with–the most important thing is whether he will carry those goals out in a manner that would truly benefit and unify our country rather than in a way that only restricts our freedoms and brings the gavel down on people who don’t fit into what they see as their image of “unity.” I’m hoping and praying it won’t turn into a “tolerance for all except people who don’t agree with me” kinda thing. Great post. 🙂

    1. hi Heather! oh gosh, thank you so much! i agree – i would love to see our country come together. Hugs and love xox

  29. I don’t feel this is over. There is much voter fraud being exposed, and it is looking like my state of Oregon may be on the list soon. It is looking like it will head to SCOTUS, like in the 2000 election.

There is no unity until the truth comes out. And I feel like it will shock, and I fear violence may result. I do believe the President is doing everything he can to mitigate this possibility as much as possible. The corruption runs deep.

    Blessings!

    1. thanks H for sharing your thoughts. yes – it wil lt certainly be an interesting next few weeks. We’ll see what happens! Hugs and love xox

  30. “I will certainly be held accountable for all the horrible things I have done in my past. Hello, anorexia is full of lying and manipulation and deception, and self-destruction. And I am guilty of all of it.”

…hey, I know what you’re thinking…out of everything you wrote, THAT is what I chose to focus on?!? But yeah, this statement you wrote troubled me and I needed to make sure you understand something. If you already know this and I’m reading too much into it please forgive me, but my heart needed to say these words to you…

…the beauty of being a new creation in Christ is knowing that we are washed by His blood. True repentance is a gift which allows us a clean slate every time we mess up. We can get up, brush ourselves off and never look back (okay, that was a poor paraphrase of Paul -Philippians 3:13- but he of all people sure did know about sin!). So, all those “horrible things” we have done are forgiven and the Lord remembers them not; as far as the east is from the west is how far our transgressions are removed from us. We don’t have to worry about being “held accountable” because Jesus already paid the price! Listen, I’m real good at beating myself up at times over past sins, but I know that’s the enemy just trying to prevent me from living in this freedom. (They don’t call him ‘the accuser’ for nothin’!) If you are born again you are cleansed, washed, sanctified and right with God for ALL time. You have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. As we walk in the light the blood of Jesus cleanses us now AND CONTINUALLY of ALL sin. Praise Jesus!

What the enemy really hates for us to know is WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST; we are no longer condemned!
“. . . Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.” -Romans 8:1-2

As hard as we try we will never be perfect in this life. Jesus knows this. That’s why He became the final, perfect sacrifice for all. He’s not keeping a list of all your wrongs. When He looks at you He doesn’t see the bad things you’ve done because you are forgiven. He sees your heart. He sees YOU, sweet Caralyn, His precious, beloved child whom He loves and adores. Yes, we all face judgement, but as children of the Living God our judgments will not be based on the bad…only the good; however little or great. Rewards await you in eternity.

    God bless you!

    1. oh wow i am so moved by this. thank you so much for your compassionate and encouraging words. Amen to that – a new creation washed in His blood. what a beautiful and powerful truth that is!! Hugs and love xox

  31. We need to wake up.

“But rather, a true, earnest spirit of cooperation. Where we can compromise. ”

There is no unity between light and darkness.
    They travel in different directions.

Unity sounds wonderful. Accepting and loving everyone.

And so many believers fall victim to this bullshit.

We dont compromise with Gods laws. We dont pray to God and ask Him if He can make exceptions to His rules. I am not stupid enough to do such a thing. Its His way..or its the highway.

Its like either u stole the candy bar or you didnt. You didnt halfway steal it. People stealing snickers and trying to call them twix.

    Its not happening.

Call for unity all you what. But we aren’t celebrating men who marry men. Nor women who marry women. We aren’t celebrating doing things are way.

Like it or not: there is TWO PILES OF PEOPLE.

AND THERE IS NO UNITY BETWEEN THEM.

    Those who shall inherit hell.
    Those who shall inherit heaven.

Now keep talking about unity…while you try to unify those.

    1. Hi Ben, thank you for this reflection. wow – that is some powerful food for thought. you’re absolutely right – there is no compromise to God’s law! that’s the truth! Hugs and love xox

  32. Thanks for this post! I remember writing about the Tower of Babel when people are united, but sadly united in purpose. Yes, people can be united, but it’s not always a good thing. Praying for God’s Kingdom to come soon.

    1. THank you Joshua for sharing your thoughts on this. you’re right – we must be united for Him and His will. Hugs and love xox

  33. God bless you and thank you so much for the post and for reminding me that life is a gift. Love your view on unity.

It is now time for us to act on what God says that Love will do.

Love trusts and believes the best in people. Love hopes and endures through every circumstances. Love never takes failure as a defeat for it never gives up. Love is always supportive.

    1. Thank you so much Hannah for your kind words. yes! love is what it all boils down to! glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  34. Sadly this country and neither Biden nor Trump will achieve this. Pence maybe, but the real problem is that people are so divided on different issues. In reality the problems in the U.S. is overwhelming to the point where its going to take decades to solve and we are arguing over what should be solved.

As for Biden winning the presidency he didn’t win the race the mainstream media declared him the winner, it was all for show.

You can’t really win the election if you are being investigated for election fraud. Whether it did happen or not the swing states had numbers going for Biden in minutes, all overnight. They thought no one would pay attention, but as usual they deny it and claim it was clerical errors. I would just be careful within the next several weeks as it could get messy in the big cities if Bidens presidency gets disqualified. Even worse if Trump stays in office these people celebrating will most likely riot so I pray there will be law and order present when the verdict results come in. The suburbs will need to be ready as well.

    1. you’re definitely right – it was all for show, and the media called it. not congress! and it is for sure going to get messier in the coming weeks. big prayers! Hugs and love xox

  35. Great post as always, stayed up myself for Joe’s (premature) acceptance speech. Ireland is 5 hours ahead, so it was late, but to hear someone sensible speak was refreshing. A pause from the madness.

Now I must add that I still feel a dark cloud hanging overhead. That I think will remain until Trump is out of the white house. Another four years would have been the end of America as we know it in my opinion.

Happy that you’re feeling the old vibe returning to New York. The media always seem to broadcast the worst, but I was worried about your safety at times. There were a few very tough months in New York.

    Happy that you’re happy. 🙂

    1. oh wow that was a late night for you! and thank you for saying that. yeah, new york seemed almost back to normal this weekend! it was a beautiful thing, really. glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  36. Brilliant post! I see the footprints of Marxism at work in all this. Studying this in college helped me understand the under current of the situation. Unity or else sums it up perfectly! However, as we Christian’s shoukd never forget.. God is still on the throne and no one will over rule him. If God allows something (even if it’s not good) it is because he has a purpose. God bless you and keep up the writing concerning abortion… we need to keep speaking against this. Amen

    1. thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. amen – God is still on the throne and no government power will ever overrule him! Hugs and love xox

  37. It great to see that people can be so united, but disheartening to see what unites them.
Listening to Biden’s speech was gut-wrenching for me because I see friends buying into the Democrat view; so blinded to the fact that they are being manipulated, they can’t even accept the evidence placed in front of them.
This is the grip of what social media, the mainstream media has on people. They are literally brainwashed – and dare not think for themselves. Yet again Hollywood’s elite weigh in with their self absorbed opinions. Are you so bought by your profession, that you don’t dare to think for yourself.

The one thing that most people refuse to see is that Trump literally exposed the political elite on both sides of the aisle; for what they truly are and yet the people are so brainwashed that they want it back in their hands – fooled into thinking that these people actually care about the America and its people. They don’t.

America is on the verge of becoming the socialist paradise that the Democrats want it to be and guess what, the masses are already fooled and will only realize their folly, when its too late.

Watch Biden talk about coming together and being united was so hard, especially after all that him and his party did to divide the country. He called for Republicans and Trump supporters to give him a chance.. yeah right… in the same way that Democrats and Clinton supporters gave Trump a chance?.. with accusation after accusation, case after case, rumor after rumor..
    Such hypocrites…

America needs prayer. It really needs prayer. The day that Biden is sworn into office will be one of the saddest days in the history of the country. The people will cheer and we will watch them follow; like sheep to the slaughter.

    1. i so agree – it’s what was unifying them that was disheartening indeed. i know – all the violence they incited and and instigated through narratives. the hypocracy was surely alive. big prayer indeed.. Hugs and love xox

  38. Beautifully stated. I’m working on an article of my own, yours is much less angry sounding than mine lol – thank you for the ‘bring back down to earth’ and God approach of your writing. Love it as always 🙂

    1. thank you so much RC – i really am looking forward to reading your article! Hugs and love xox

  39. Borrowing from Danny Gokey: It all comes down to this: Love God Love People.

It really is that simple. That is what will truly unify us. We must put God first in all we do and then we must love people, even those individuals we disagree with and despise. The reason why is that all of us humans were created in the image of God. We love God, so it follows that we must then love His creations.

It is not an easy change for people to make if they have lived their whole lives believing in the differences between us and them making us better then them, or stronger, or smarter, etc. That is what has happened to us since we ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Evil has slipped in and we must fight it back every day so that we can be closer to our God.

I think it isn’t unity that we need, but love. And this isn’t the carnal love that is rampant in our world, but the love of Jesus Christ and His way. That is the unifying force. That is how we overcome all of the hatred and evil in our world. We must Love God and Love People.

May God bless you and keep you. And thank you for being a light of hope and Christ’s love in the darkness of this world.

    1. love God, love people – oh wow I love that so much! thank you so much Todd for sharing your thoughts on that. love is all we need! Hugs and love xox

  40. This was a very well written post. Your heartfelt, sincere and genuine point of view is meritorious.

I take a decidedly different view of the facts and have also been writing on the grave matter of abortion and the grave matter of the dysfunctional President.

I have never been blocked because I hold each view in suspense as we navigate the future.

The Lord has chosen a microscopic virus to defeat Trump. No human power could unseat him. No election fraud. No money.

    A microscopic virus.

We have the momentum to continue the fight for at-risk life in the womb. We will win with love not power.

    All the best,
    Deacon Gerry

    1. Hi Deacon Gerry, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. very interesting take. Hugs and love xox

  41. Confessions first: I don’t live in US, I know very little of the political situation, I’m not a Catholic. But, having read your post of 4 days ago I cannot understand why it was censored? Your views aren’t treasonable, they’re not likely to incite violence; they are your passionate and fervently held views based on a deep faith. Further, I am appalled at the very notion of late-term (I hadn’t even heard of it) abortion; I am divided on the issue in cases of rape, especially incestuous rape, but abortion because ‘it’ is an inconvenience, or not planned, and most especially late-term is murder. Is that grounds for censorship? Or is free speech OK – up to a point? And who decides on where that point is?

    1. Hi Marilyn, thanks so much for your response. I have found that any of my posts that advocate for pro life views are censored by Facebook. It is so disheartening. I appreciate you sharing your heart. I do agree! Hugs and love xox

  42. It’s not over. The dems are celebrating prematurely. Remember in 2000 how Gore was president for about 30 days and then voted out? It is going to happen to Biden.

    1. Hi Melissa! I’m right there with ya. I don’t think it’s over yet either! Whether or not it changes the outcome of the election is one thing, but there was certainly election interference, and to protect the integrity of our voting system, we need the truth to come to light! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  43. Hi Just testing really if this ‘gets through’. I commented on this and previous post (including some words that I now think may be triggers – e.g. ‘C’ for having post altered and ‘A’ for ending a life) and my reply has not appeared. Is this possible? M

    1. They came through at the same time – like one was ‘checked’ for content and the second buzzed straight through. Maybe I’m getting paranoid. M

      1. Oh! Haha! All good! Sometimes I’ve noticed that WordPress can have a bit of a lag!

    2. Hi Marilyn! Hmm I’m not sure why it hasn’t shown up yet for you! I’m seeing them on my end! Hugs and love xox

  44. Thank you, sister! I cannot help but wonder why Biden and his cronies were completely uninterested in national unity over the last 4 years! But yes, my prayer is for a great spiritual awakening across our nation that brings us to unity “under God” rather than under a president or political party.

    1. Hi Steven! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Yes-big time prayers for this country! Hugs and love xox

  45. Hi, Caralyn. Praying for you and your special gentleman. Very frightening words about “unity” belonging only to those who tow a particular line (think Germany in 1938).
But uplifted, because as you noted at the end, Father IS in control. This is not His first rodeo, and He will not be surprised by the eventual “certified” results of the election. (Strange how media announced “It’s official, Biden wins . . .” before the Electoral College meets December 14.)
Anyway, “He changes times and seasons; He removes [presidents] and sets up [president].” (Daniel 2:21) So how did He let Clinton get elected? Why did He authorize Hitler to come to power in Germany? Why did He “set up” the conflicted Popes of the Schism in the 1400s?
I contend His interest is less in government officials than we think. He is more interested in the people, the individuals, who are lost without Him. Sometimes a harsh governor may push people to find Him; other times, a gentle leader is needed. But His will is always for our good, hard as that may be to see at times. love and prayers, c.a.

    1. Thank you so much for your prayers! That means so much! Yes- God is absolutely in control and we can trust in His God and perfect plan! Hugs and love xox

  46. I love where you went with this post toward the middle and end but frankly the bad mouthing Trump —the cussing from Biden supporters — isn’t at all a testimony of unity. Had the democrats not gotten their way there would be no celebrating, just more violence/rioting …interesting to me that even in the midst of what “they” feel is a win they still made time to shout obscenities….ugly and far from REAL unity.
Praying God’s mercy and grace for us.

    1. Aw thank you so much Ali! Yes you’re right about that – the bad sportsmanship isn’t a very good demonstration of unity at all! And also, funny how, even with over 70 million trump supporters, that there was not one incidence of violence or looting after the news of Biden’s electoral victory?! Yes- joining you in that important prayer for His mercy and Grace! Hugs and love xox

      1. Yup that’s probably the best part about Biden getting it— rioting is hopefully over, if it had gone the other way I’m certain there’d still be that mess.

      2. That’s certainly true. Thank goodness for the end to violence and looting!

    1. I so agree, Alice! It cheapens the argument, and is a very simplistic way of expressing a point. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  47. Every person on earth is a self-centered sinner. Me included. The Bible confirms it. Therefore the only “unity” that can exist for any group of people is the unity that comes from humbly repenting of their collective and individual sinful nature and acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord.

    1. You’re right, Rollie. Myself included. Oh my gosh I love that – the unity of humility! Yes!! Hugs and love xox

  48. There is a different, spiritual experience of unity. The Focolare founder Chiara Lubich lived, “Unity is better than a good idea” and the call to this way of holiness is hard as it means a radical setting aside of what *I* want for what is prayerfully discerned as best for the community. What is being touted here, as best I can tell is “uniformity” or more to the point a “conformity of will” to that which is decided by a select few as good for the entire community. Living unity is both an act of the personal will bending it towards that which God desires of us and listening in to the needs around us. Living unity is a difficult thing. This “conformity of will” being touted as unity makes it clear that as individuals we are incapable of not only exercising our free will but that the framers of the constitution were incorrect in their understanding that capable of pursuing life, liberty and happiness. These pursuits are noble and when pursued well they allow each of us to experience the freedom we so much desire. As a pro-life Catholic woman I have come to understand that while I may not like something, and have deep suspicions about all of this going on in our country right now, in this current age, I know one thing with great certainty, “All things work together to those who love the Lord.” There is more to this from Paul’s letter to the Romans however it sums up this moment. It is ugly, I don’t understand why God is allowing it however I trust that this is part of our call to holiness as a nation.

    1. Hi Teri, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! You’re so right / pursuing goodness and noble endeavors bring us to true freedom!! And I agree, all we can do is just trust in God’s ultimate plan! Have a great afternoon! Hugs and love xox

    1. You’re so right Penny – it all boils down to love. And I love how you put that: Gods love for us, and love for each other in response! Yes! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  49. I hope and pray your voice is not silenced or drowned out in the coming years. Stay true little sister. You have a powerful message that needs to be heard. Like Christ, we must be full of truth and grace. One without the other leads to chaos, not unity.

  50. Dear friend,

Unity should not just be seen for groups, organizations, villages, cities, states, etc. Unity should be like the drop in the Ocean, being one in the One – as we are all are human beings, however, we do not behave like humans, are under control of our minds in all its all facets. So the drop is not separated from the Ocean, it is our mind that separates us… We should learn that we all sit in the same boat with respect and dignity among each other. When God created His creation, then we all are part of this creation (the drop), thus we are all brothers and sisters in Him. We have to live, each of us, this unity, this oneness.

Thanks for sharing, my dear friend Caralyn
All the best to you 🙂
    Didi

    1. Thank you Didi for this beautiful reflection. Yes! Being one in the One! I love that thought so much! Hugs and love xox

  51. Unity from Biden…you’re a lot more optimistic than I am. After four years (perhaps more if you count the Obama years) of being slandered for my beliefs, my race, my faith without knowing a thing about me, I might be able to forgive, because it’s what God calls me to do. But forgetting is a whole other story. Guess AOC better just go ahead and add me to her “enemy list” because my King is on the throne and not in any white house. God bless.

    1. Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your thoughts. I’m sorry you’ve endure that! I agree – our King is on the Throne! Hugs and love xox

  52. Hi Caralyn, thank you for this post. I just pray that one day you can become a mother so you will feel more like you are responding to this heartbreak and you can have a little one to love and care for. I think you would be such a great mother…

    1. Thanks friend – yes! Oh my gosh one day I pray that will be the case! My goodness, that really means a lot. Thank you for saying that. God’s will be done!! Hugs and love xox

      1. Yes I really believe what I’m saying because you already are mentoring young people and using your past pain to heal others and you have so much courage and faith.

  53. Beautiful analysis Caralyn! I really do hope that Biden does the right thing if/when it’s officially called (I think they are still contesting it but who knows). He needs to turn to the Lord and live for Him. We all do. In John chapter 3 it says we are all condemned until we come to the truth of our sins and put our trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. We have to walk away and become new. You’re a new creation my lovely friend. I hope to encourage you that all guilt is gone when you are washed by His blood. 💙

    1. Thank you so much Emily! I’m so glad it resonated with you. Amen to that – we have to become new! How grateful am I for His forgiveness and grace! Hugs and love xox

  54. 🤔 Funny how right-wingers always claim “oppression” when THEY are the ones constantly threatening everyone’s lives with guns because people say “Happy Holidays” during December.

Y’know what US conservatism is? It’s the false idol-worship that Jesus (a brown-skinned, socialist ✡) warned about in Matthew 6:5-9.

Trump spent the last few months denying the existence of a deadly virus, refusing to wear a 😷 until (and everyone around him) got infected (and he still won’t wear one), and destroying 📮 to secure his victory… which he STILL lost.

Right-wingers aren’t real Christians; they’re con-(wo)men who use the bible to do EVERYTHING opposite to what Christ preached. Period.

  55. I pray with you, May we “… spur each other along in our quest for goodness, for holiness, for rightness with God.” And may we truly exercise the real meaning of UNITY as we stand together as Children of God … seeking His will in our own lives as well as in our communities, our nation, and our world. <3

  56. This is a very interesting post. A lot of excellent points made by you Caralyn that put into question what will happen. They’re still lying about some of the votes that got Biden elected. They’re still withholding information. Probably shouldn’t have been so quick to project him the winner. But that’s how the mainstream media operates. Lame stream. They live by the motto ABT. Anyone But Trump. Yet all these people prove is how dumb and ignorant they really are. A point I made in my gym post yesterday. Hugging and not avoiding crowds or social distancing. I didn’t watch his speech. Actions speak louder than words. I agree with you regarding abortion. And the Bible. You are very informed and intelligent. I wish more people were like you. I try to be more positive each day. It’s increased my fitness and writing. I’ll share this post. Shame on FB and all these left leaning social media outlets.

    1. Thanks so much Derek. At the end of the day, I just want the truth to come out. I doubt it will impact the results of the election, but the American people need to have faith in the election system. Thanks for your kind words and for passing this along! Hugs and love xox

  57. At a very busy intersection in my city, a group of women (maybe 35 or so years old) stood with “F-Trump” signs on Sunday afternoon. I couldn’t help but wonder at just how very inarticulate these women were. I would like to have asked each of them to articulate a specific policy that President Trump has that they disagree with and come up with an alternative. I highly doubt that they could have or anyone else could who has limited their comments to “F-.” I am absolutely stunned at the vulgarity our country has spiraled down into. May God have mercy on us all.

    1. Oh gosh, Jenny. That is just so not what unity looks like!!! I agree – all the vulgar profanity just highlights that they don’t have the vocabulary to express how they really feel. It is quite illuminating. And cheapens the message. Me too. Stunned! Lord have mercy, indeed! Hugs and love xox

  58. Amen. Only one person can unify this country and it won’t be a politician who points to himself for that. Only Jesus, and the CHURCH.

  59. So well said! As believers in God we must view every action with Eternity as the back drop. This is 4 years and they go by so fast. Things will be different but is different always better? That is why I like knowing that God never changes, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. You have such a great look on life, thank you for your willingness to share. Some will love what you say and some will not, few liked what Jesus had to say and He is our example.

    Steve

    1. Thank you so much Steve! You’re right – God never changes! What a comforting truth that is!! Hugs and love xox

  60. Just a quick note from me. GOD loves us all. GOD prays for all of you and me to Love One Another. More people are holding themselves more accountable for what they have done in their own world. GOD has no need to punish. GOD is your strength, GOD is your protector, and JESUS is your friend. Praying for us all on our way to find unity. It will not be easy, but we all know how.

    1. You’re so right about that, Dennis! God loves us and is our source of strength! Hugs and love xox

  61. Beautifully put Caralyn! I am always so impressed with your straight forwardness and strong belief in God and His Son Jesus! It amazes me how these followers of Satan’s rebellion will use their false professed belief in the Bible and quote Biblical passages to try to convince people how sincere, honest and Godly they are when, in truth, they are deliberately working against God’s laws and His original design for mankind. It greatly saddens me, especially when I see innocent people falling for these lies. But, as you quoted “God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.” Eccl. 3:17.
We must, also, remember that “National Media Outlets” do not determine the results of the Election, as we are being told by the media and those who are claiming victory. There are several processes that the States have to go through and, then, the Electoral College will casts it’s votes in December and the results of the Election will not be finalized until January. Check out this article for the facts:
    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/10/heres-when-the-results-of-the-2020-election-will-be-finalized.html
Thank you, Caralyn, for sharing your convictions and your courage to speak out.
    In great admiration, Delores

    1. Thanks so much Delores for sharing your heart. You’re right – the media does not determine the election! Hugs and love xox

  62. I hope for unity too… you have every right to whatever your opinions are.

Trump was not a president of the people. That’s my opinion anyway. He was too harsh for me to handle. I’m glad he lost – it was a HUGE sense of relief to me

And regarding the pro-life … the problem there is that it is a sensitive issue. It could be hurtful to some people? So that is probably why is censored

It is a VERY sensitive and hot topic. Can be offensive either way to someone.

I do hope it gets better and we come together – I also LOVED how excited and happy everyone was ❤️❤️

  63. I applaud you for your courage in the public square. You are thoughtful and kind in an electrically charged time. Even when people disagree with what you have written, you display generosity and welcoming hospitality. I don’t respond regularly — but I am impressed with what you have accomplished. Thank you! Ann

    1. Aw thank you Ann, I appreciate your encouraging words. And thanks for your readership! Yes – I am all for healthy dialogue. Respectful communication where people can come together and share differing ideas and beliefs is how bridges are built!! 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  64. Amen, Caralyn! There is no unity with darkness. The unity they want is total submission, or else they get violent. Their call for unity is fake, & everyone will see that once they realize Trump won. Praying for our country. God bless!

    1. Thanks so much Ryan. You’re absolutely right – our country needs prayer for sure! Whatever the outcome, we need truth to come to light so we can have faith in our election system! Hugs and love xox

  65. Great post! We all live in glass houses. It may take awhile, maybe after I am long gone from this planet, but I do believe we can live as ONE.

  66. For most of us in the LGBT community, The Trump years have been a nightmare. The winking and nodding at neo-Nazis, KKK, “Proud Boys”, and assorted supremacist organizations were nothing to be interpreted cavalierly. Not to mention Trump’s proclivity about chronic lying, and bearing false witness. Then there is the issue of him making everything about himself and the liberal use of superlatives in regards to everything about himself. I don’t understand how authentic Christians could give Trump a pass.

Much of the nation breathed a well-earned sigh of relief when the final tallies indicated Mr. Biden was the presumptive POTUS-Elect. Count me among those who are sleeping better and feeling optimistic and positive about the United States once again. By the way, Biden is not planning on “killing babies”. He is a Roman Catholic and personally abides by his faith which is anti-abortion. The question of Roe v Wade is really up to the Supreme Court, which has been packed with Republican-friendly conservatives.

    1. Thank you for sharing this powerful insight. I do pray that this next season is one of inclusion where every single person feels safe, seen and celebrated! Hugs and love xox

  67. I’ve grown suspicious of the way politicians use the term “unity” these days too. At one time, it meant that you had two parties that disagreed about some things, but they would often compromise to work out an arrangement that was somehow mutually agreeable, because the people of our country needed it.
Now, it means “Shut up and get on our side. We won!”
Once upon a time, there was a newly elected head of state who demanded unity. He even at times used religious–even Christian-sounding language–to promote that unity. His supporters occasionally resorted to violence in the streets to get their way. That was in Germany in the 1930s. I hope we can learn some lessons from history before it’s too late.

    1. Hi Michael. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I know – I definitely am weary of the unity they speak of. I agree. I hope we can learn from the past. Hugs and love xox

  68. With my disability it was hard for me to get access to the ballot and vote. I really had to take my time to vote. I really hope that everything will work out for our country.

  69. Hi Caralyn, I happened to read this blog post…That’s exactly what Castro stated when he took control of Cuba to lead it to it’s destruction. He mentioned unity, or else…Church scensoring and closing, government control of the people is what followed. He claimed to be a Catholic but didn’t practice the principals and sensored those that did. Our present reality sounds familiar. Oh, and I forgot…the right for responsible citizens to bear arms, which is rightfully in the US constitution. We know the pattern caused we Cubans have lived it. Lord have mercy on the USA and open their eyes of it’s blind. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen!!

    1. Hi Giselle, thank you so much for sharing that! oh wow – yeah the restrictions on worship — whether actually mandated or “spooked” into us, are so incredibly sad. I would say that i have a healthy fear of COVID — nothing drastic, but a healthy respect of it — and even I am afraid to worship in person for fear of contracting covid. The fear mongering of the media has certainly done what it set out to do. You’re right – our present reality sounds eerily familiar indeed. Amen – Lord have mercy on the USA!!! Thank you so much for this powerful insight! Hugs and love xox
