Happy Wednesday from OHIO, Friends!
Yep, Iβm back home for the week, enjoying some time with my family in my childhood home before they move!
But I had to pop on tonight and share something extra special.
Brunch is one of my all time favorite pastimes.

Itβs social, bloody maryβs are an acceptable beverage, it can be sweet or savory, and if youβre lucky, it will span the entire day, into nighttime with some of your best friends.

So this brunch was an absolute winner! I had some left over crusty bread from a bakery, and I cut thick, Texas toast-style slices and let them soak in the egg custard for about 20 minutes before making the most delicious brunch dish youβve ever seen!

Nothing beats cutter, sweet and cinnamony French toast, drizzled with sweet maple syrup and melted salted butter.

And bonus points if you serve it with crispy bacon!

Hereβs what you need: (Serves 1)
Thickly sliced, crusty bread
3 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
3 Tbsp agave
Butter (for the griddle
Extras:
Maple Syrup
Butter
Fresh berries
Tools:
Mixing bowl
Measuring spoons
Griddle
Spatula
Shallow plate
Good Chef’s Knife
Directions:
Cut your crusty bread into about 3/4 to 1 inch slices. Beat all of your custard ingredients together in a mixing bowl. On a large, shallow plate, soak each piece of bread thoroughly front and back with the custard. Pour any remaining custard over top and let the bread soak for at least 20 minutes. The longer the better!

Heat a Griddle over medium high heat. Mally a tablespoon of butter and place your soaked toast slices in a single layer on the Griddle. Again, pour any remaining custard over top.

Let the slices cook for about three minutes on the one side, until the egg crust is golden brown. Then, flip and allow the other side to cook for about two minutes, until the custard has set.

Pro tip: if your crusty bread is βheartyβ enough, using tongs is a great alternative to a spatula!

Remove from the Griddle, and serve immediately with butter, maple syrup, bacon and berries.

Oh my goodness where to begin!? This French Toast stole the show! From the sweet golden brown crust, to the kiss of cinnamon, to the chewy crust, it was a perfect 10!

I must say, compared to my salad, my special gentlemanβs brunch won the day!

But the thing that was so delicious was that this whole meal wasnβt too sweet sweet. The kiss of sweetness in the custard was the perfect balance with the richness from the heavy cream, the depth from the vanilla and spicy cinnamon!

No matter which way you slice it, French toast is one of those foods that make you feel luxurious. Like youβre having a treat. Indulging a little. Living the good life. And this recipe definitely takes the cake in that department!
So give it a shot! And treat yourself this weekend!

Ah.. Thou are indeed a girl after my own heart. French toast brings back memories like the time I made some for the kids in the orphanage in Thailand.
My recipe is pretty much exactly the same as your’s except a little more pepper..
What I do is I make jam sandwiches and then dip them in the egg mixture – Strawberry and Pineapple work the best in this case.
And the side order of bacon is simply – Heaven. :))
Great.. I managed to make myself hungry and its not even lunch time yet.
Oh wow what an incredible memory. Oooh that sounds amazing with the fruit!! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox
