Thank you, Heroes!

Hello friends and Happy Memorial Day!

I just wanted to pop in here and say “Hi!” and that I hope everyone is having a relaxing and beautiful day off, hopefully surrounded by loved ones and good food! Steven and I are currently on a rooftop barbecue birthday party in NYC, enjoying a sunny day after a weekend of grey, rainy skies!

It’s times like this, when I’m enjoying time with friends and loved ones, that I feel so grateful for the freedoms I’m enjoying, that our brave men and women of the military fought for, and currently dedicate their lives to protect.

So today, on this Memorial Day, may we honor and remember those courageous service men and women – past, present, and future – who put their lives on the line every day to protect you and me. Thank you to them, AND their families, who endure a sacrifice just as meaningful.

Lord, please watch over those who watch over us. And may God bless America.

Hugs,
Caralyn

  1. Yes, may we never forget those who have given so much for our nation. ❤️ Happy Memorial Day!

  2. Thank you for your compassion and patriotism … just one comment for ALL of us:

You wrote, “Hello friends and Happy Memorial Day!” Unfortunately, Memorial Day isn’t really a “happy” day. We observe Memorial Day to honor the fallen heroes — those who died in service of our great nation and sacrificed to allow us to live freely.

Happy really isn’t the proper emotion. How about grateful?

“Hello friends and Grateful Memorial Day” — thanks for the sacrifice.

    Short remembrance from Hawai’i:

  3. Armed Forces Day is for those still in uniform.

Veterans Day is for those who hung up their uniform.

Memorial Day is for those who never made it out of their uniform.

  4. Since we are in Missouri, Dennis and I went to the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where my parents are buried, and my aunt and uncle. All the graves have American flags on them. The place was filled with people paying respect to those who preserved our freedom. I am so glad we did that today before we continue our trip.

  5. A good word. As I visited the graves of my family today I was reminded of how much they had to pay in order for me to experience the liberties and advantages I have today.

  6. Yes. So true. That’s what this day is about. Not politicians tweeting selfies and saying “enjoy the long weekend.” So heartless and out of touch…

  7. There is no greater honor or hero than one who lays down his/her life for his/her country.

    “To all of our veterans
    Far and near.
We thank you for your service
    For all those years.

    You sacrificed your time,
    And some gave your life.
    You preserved our freedom
    By willingly paying the price.

    Many of you
    Were sent overseas.
    You were wounded in battle,
    With scars and disease.

    But courageous and brave,
    You weathered the storm.
    You faced every battle
    With faith and beyond.

    We honor you with joy
    For all that you’ve done.
You stood strong for our country,
    For our daughters and sons.

    So no one stands alone,
    We walk hand in hand.
    Remember, we are with you.
    Together we shall stand.

    We salute you today.
    Hear what we say.
    Let our words speak eloquently
    In this special way.

    On this day,
Let us express our love and thanks
    For the sacrifice you paid.
    You served in honor
    For many years and days,
    And we will never forget
How you were strong and brave.”

Currently it is disheartening is watching kids go to colleges and learn to hate what those and men and women stood for. It is disheartening that the current administration seeks to undermine and create what those heroes fought and died to prevent.
