Howdy y’all!
I am currently IN THE AIR on my flight back from Utah!
Oh my gosh it was the trip of a lifetime, truly.

We ate amazing food, went hiking, walked around Main Street, went to an arts festival, drove to the quaint Sundance resort, saw a concert, went to Park City’s one and only nightclub, and just enjoyed being together!
I’ll tell you what, I think I was born for the mountain way of life. The fresh air, the active lifestyle, spending time outdoors – its just makes me feel so alive.
Which is no surprise, because nature is one of God’s most magnificent creations, and a gift for His children to enjoy!

But my goodness, I feel so blessed to have had that time with my friends. (And thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes, by the way!)
OK quick story time: So this free concert we went to at Sundance, it’s a pretty far drive – too far for tourists (about an hour away), and so as a result, it was really only locals who attended.
There was nothing fancy, no frills: just a cover band in a tent, a food truck, a beer stand, and one heck of a view.
Think families, couples and groups of teens in cowboy hats, sitting on blankets with coolers and bags of chips. It was so fun.

But one thing that my friends and I noticed, was that none of the kids or teens or children had “screens!” There was not an iPad, a phone, or a tablet in sight! They were all just running around, doing cartwheels, picking dandelions, and just exploring! And all the adults were just in the moment, enjoying the music, too! It was so refreshing!
Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine, the nature, the fresh air — no technology required!

Which, to be honest, was the way of life I adopted while I was out here too! I wasn’t on the internet or social media for the entire trip (minus a few necessary “fringe” hours for work). But I mean, I was so unplugged, I didn’t even check my phone on my BIRTHDAY last Friday! And coming from someone who’s average daily screen time is 13 HOURS (gotta love being a blogger)… the change was SO enjoyable!
I was able to be present and in the moment with my friends! I saw people’s eyeballs. Laughed and cherished shared experiences. We were spontaneous! Adventurous. Connected! Conversations weren’t being interrupted by pings or dings. We had a weekend of human to human interaction, unbothered by what the rest of the world was posting on social media. And I freaking loved it.

But back to the concert: just watching those kids be kids — the way childhood was when I was a kid — playing outside in bare feet, exploring the woods, spending every second I could outside with my friends…it was really a beautiful thing to behold.
So I don’t know, maybe there’s really something to the mountain way of life?
Because I’ll tell you what, I’ve never felt more refreshed or rejuvenated than I do right now.
So my challenge to myself, and to you, is this week, let’s try to take it easy on our screen time consumption. Because there’s a whole, beautiful world out there if we only just lift our eyes from our phones to notice it!
OK – that’s all for me tonight! The plane has begun its decent and it’s time for me to put my laptop up.
Have an amazing Monday, friends. And I can’t wait to share a yummy recipe with you on Wednesday, along with some of the faaaabulous food we enjoyed in Utah!
Until next time!

Thank you! Hugs and love xox
Always enjoy your stories. They are refreshing and uplifting. I so much rather think on the things that are good, true, lovely and honorable than all the junk the world is putting out there. You give us good thoughts to think about!

I’m so glad that you had a great time, Caralyn! Beautiful scenery, I love the photo of you in the white dress, wow! I too remember those carefree days as a kid, no cell phones, texts or dings. Some things should never change. Be well! 😎❤️
Thank you John! Oh my gosh yes – we had just a marvelous time! And thanks! I almost passed up the dress, but my inner child’s love for “twirling skirts” got the best of me! Haha Hugs and love xox
Twirling skirts are always beautiful! ❤️
haha i would have to agree!
Gorgeous, gorgeous – you and your surroundings! thanks for sharing lovely adventures!
Thank you Lisa Beth! You’re kind to say that 🙂 oh yes! It’s always fun to share joys! Hugs and love xox
My first thought is how mountains are special places of power. God claimed Mt. Zion. When Satan rebelled with the fallen Watchers, they made their pact on Mt. Hermon. Native Americans revere mountains for their power and sometimes for their danger. The Superstition Mountains in Arizona have long been known for their dangers, supernatural as well as physical.
You hit on this writing about being where God made your surroundings, not main. I think it may be especially true as you were in the mountains.
I’m glad you made it back safely. Blessings to you!
that’s so true! I didn’t even draw the connection to all the Mt’s in the Bible, but my goodness, places of power indeed! thanks Jeff! it was a magical trip! hugs to you and your girls xox
Happy for you, what a great time, and yes real conversation makes it even better
thank you so much! 🙂 yes! you’re right about that! it really does! Hugs and love xox
I’m sure you’re convinced now that there’s no contest between mountains and New York. When are you moving back to the mountains?
I enjoyed reading this with your beautiful pictures. Your stay in the mountain was quite refreshing. I love being free from the disturbing alerts of my phone everyday so I get what you mean. 😆😊
Blessings!
Sounds like a great time!
Hugs!! XO😃❤
Anyone who can watch kids be kids and get a thrill out of it is on the right path – we’re all God’s creation – everyone us.
I have friends who live in Utah and the husband is a great photographer who’s always taking photos of the scenery. Whole place looks amazing and I may just have to visit when I can…….
Sounds like you had a good time. Is Ez 37 v5 your favourite verse as it’s very fitting for your blog site
I am so glad you had a wonderful and refreshing trip. And how awesome to see people and children who didn’t have their eyes glued to a device.
So glad you had an opportunity to get away. It is always so refreshing to see God’s creation up close and personal.
Got a kick out of that first pic in your white dress. Move over, Marilyn! A better beauty with more class and modesty provides a better show!! 😊
Mountain life can be great, but remember your experience of it is like the newness of moving to The City. Perhaps you were just as enraptured there when you moved into your first apartment?

Happy belated birthday! Yes, God’s creation is gorgeous.

I used to fish that little creek at Sundance back in the 80’s. It was amazing. Those photos bring back memories of my little ones. Nice trip, excellent!
Truly sorry to ask, but are you STILL a virgin?
Happy belated birthday!
My oldest spent this summer’s getaway in Utah… and like you, she totally enjoyed! Hmmm Maybe it’s my turn next?
Keep basking in those memories and thanks for sharing. You make a difference 😍
I am a lover of the mountains too! Love the reminder on the screentime as well.
