Well well well! Would you look at that…I’m in Miami!
Yep! Steven and a couple of our friends and I are renting a house for a few days down here in the sunshine and, since we can all “work remotely,” we will be working during the week, and then enjoying the weekend in Miami!

So fun, right!? I’ve never been to Miami before, and gosh – what a beautiful city!
Beautiful vistas, beautiful people — I think I’m going to like it here!

I’m currently working at the kitchen table in our Airbnb, and my view out the window is a palm tree!! I mean, wow! I’m NOT in New York anymore!
This morning I woke up and had a lovely run along the board walk, and my goodness – there were so many people out rollerblading and biking — at 8am! I ran past “Muscle Beach,” and all the little cafe restaurants. I saw people out collecting coconuts. I passed the hardcore surfers, who were just coming in from the water. It was quite the jog!

But looking out at the water, seeing the sun peek through these dark, overcast storm clouds, which met the choppy, crystal blue sea on the horizon, I fully saw God’s beauty on display. It was just beautiful. I turned off my music and prayed, thanking God for the second chance at life He blessed me with so generously, after my eating disorder.
I’ve gotta tell ya…there’s been one word that has been instrumental to my recovery: yes.
YES!

“Yes” to life. “Yes” to friends. “Yes” to fun opportunities. “Yes” to spontaneity.
I spent so long during my anorexia saying “no” — closing my life off to people, to love, to fun, to dreams, to life.
And when I adopted recovery, I made up my mind right then and there, that I was going to change that, and say YES to everything that God threw my way.

I had some time to make up for, big time.
And it actually made a huge difference. It was a way for me to reclaim that season of life — those years — that the eating disorder robbed from me. It was something I could do. And something that propelled me forward, outside of my comfort zone, allowing me to feel like I was taking action steps, getting my life back.
And so, adopting the mindset of “YES” has been such a beautiful thing, that has really allowed not only my recovery – my myself – to blossom.

Life is too short, and as I learned – too precious of a gift – to spend it isolated, afraid and alone.
Let’s be with people. Work hard and play harder. Drink in and experience this beautiful world that God has given us! Because our time here on this earth is limited. We’re just passing through. So let’s make every day count!

So – if you need me, I will be down here saying YES to everything Miami has to offer — Cuban food, latin music, sunshine, walks on the beach. LET’S DO IT!

“This is what the Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” Ez 37:5

Welcome to Florida!!! So happy for and so proud of you!!! Love you as always, beautiful friend. Hugs! XOπβ€
Awesome, amen! Welcome to Florida! Enjoy the sunshine and the freedom! No unconstitutional tyrannical mandates down here. This is real America, standing strong and free! If you find yourselves in Venice, you have an open invitation to come visit me and my family in our new home. We live in a beautiful gated community (with 3 pools, tennis & basketball courts, bocce ball, and fitness centers) just about 10 minutes from Venice Beach. We would be honored and blessed to have you all over for dinner. We have plenty of tasty free range bison meat and everything is gluten free π. No pressure, but just know you are more than welcome. We start Thanksgiving break tomorrow after school gets out. We will be off for 9 days! π Have fun! God bless!
Welcome to Florida! We are blessed with sunshine and a lot of things we take for granted. So glad you are getting to soak up some sun along with quiet time with God.
I had a “no” attitude for much of my life. Part of it was taught. I missed some really good opportunities because I was conditioned to think that “stuff like that” is too good for me, to far out of my reach. Eventually I learned better and life has been good for me overall. I made a real effort to get my family to London just before Christmas in 2001. I had the tickets and then 9/11 happened. I was dead set that we were going to go, because I didn’t want my girls to experience a “no” on something that big. I consulted w/ some commercial airline pilots I knew and the risk was miniscule. It turned out to be a great education for them.
I’m grateful you said “yes” to my “extra dad” comments. I’ve been so rewarded by being some small help to you! Enjoy your weekend! Hello to Steven!
