I had a really disturbing experience over the weekend.
Really disturbing.
I was over at a friend’s house this weekend, and on their TV, they had playing (for their toddler) a YouTube-curated playlist of children’s programming, in order to occupy him while the “grown ups” chatted. Children’s channels on YouTube are gifts from Above for parents, as it will instantly captivate a child’s attention. It has the power to stop tears, get them to eat, distract them on an airplane, kill some extra time, etc.
Everything from Baby Shark to The Wiggles to Disney Princesses, to Blue’s Clues is on this playlist. It even will broadcast “livestream-style” so the child will always have new programming.
Well, you can imagine our shock when a literal cartoon drag queen started singing with “Blue” – of Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues – about queer, non-binary and trans families, set at an LGBTQIA+ Pride parade.
This song — with sing-a-long highlighted lyrics, just so you didn’t miss it — was targeting children.
Children.
Introducing them to terms like…
Pansexual.
Bisexual.
I even had to google what “ACE” was…
And it’s “asexual.”
Good thing a toddler will know what that is before I do!
Watching this just randomly come on the TV, with Blue and this barrel-chested drag queen spewing this LGBT agenda…it was bone chilling.
And I’m not being dramatic.
It was terrifying.
Imagine as a parent, having to explain what a drag queen is to a TODDLER.
This is grooming 101.
I was deeply unsettled.
Why on God’s green earth are we teaching toddlers about alternative sexual lifestyles?
It is absolutely baffling to me. Not just the utter confusion this sews for a child…questioning why this rainbow woman who sounds like a man is saying that families can have two mommies, or what a “non-binary baba” is. But the predation on the innocence of our children is enough to make me break out the torches and pitch forks. Shame on you, Nickelodeon, and its parent company, Paramount.
I couldn’t get this 4-minute song visual out of my head all weekend. The catchiness of the tune, the manipulative imagery they used to captivate a child, the message behind it. It haunted me.
Until Monday morning. When I was jolted into reality by something even more disturbing.
Enter: Generation Drag. A new Discovery+ show (owned by Warner Brothers, and produced by Tyra Banks), that follows TEENAGERS as they prepare for Dragutante, a drag ball for queer teens in Colorado, ages 8-18.
I stomached my way through the entire trailer, and came away feeling so sad for these children.
They’re being paraded around by society — and their parents — as these brave examples of acceptance and expression, when the reality is that they are being over-sexualized, hyper-feminized, and groomed into a pedophile’s fantasy.
Since when have we started celebrating an under-age teenage boy wearing women’s dominatrix cage-lingerie, and performing provocatively for adults?
This is child abuse.
This is absolute sexual predation on children.
And it sickens me to my core. I am absolutely disgusted that is not only just happening out in the world…but that it’s being celebrated on TV, and implanted into the young, impressionable minds of our children.
There was one part of the trailer where our 9 or ten year old hero boy, who is shown in an inappropriately short pink tennis skirt while shopping for furry pink platform boots with his father, is shown saying, “Oh God, this is happening…” in exactly the voice you’re probably hearing in your head: a valley girl, taking the Lord’s name in vein while flipping her wrist and rolling her eyes.
And as I heard it, in my mind I prayed, “Oh God, this is happening.”
Lord, protect these children. Protect the minds of those children who see and hear this, and fill their hearts with Your love, and their minds with Your truth.
Your truth about who they really are: their true identity as a son or a daughter of God, infinitely loved by a God who made them in His image: male or female.
A God who delights so boundlessly in us, and created us each unique, special and a reflection of our Creator.
All of this wedding preparation I have been doing here recently, has unintentionally got me day dreaming about life “down-the-road” with my then-will-be-husband: having children, what they will look like, how many God will give us, watching them grow up.
And I’ve gotta tell ya — the thought of bringing children into this current world, where they will be the zeroed in target for radical agendas that not only completely contradict Christian, family values, but label anyone who holds traditional Christian values as bigoted, backwards, phobic people….it scares the living daylights out of me.
I can’t dwell on that thought too much, because it is so disheartening.
We’re watching the world completely deteriorate around us: from backlash over the Parental Rights in Education Bill, to Disney unabashedly trying to insert their “queer agenda” wherever they can into children’s programming. (Info from a leaked audio conference call from a Disney producer.)
There is a battle out there over the souls of the most vulnerable: our children.
Lord, give us strength to withstand the fiery arrows from the enemy, and from those who seek to strip the world of your Truth.

What I see going on all funnels down to one thing: Satan. “It” is doing it’s best to destroy the lives of any age human and it’s pure evil. And, how sad that the courts and attorneys in this country are willing and happy to help the perversion along, and along with so many evil politicians.

Hi Caralyn. Unfortunately, homosexuals and pedophiles don’t reproduce, so they must recruit. And since children are wired to believe what adults tell them, the earlier they can promote their perversion, the more acceptance they will receive and the more recruits they will gain.
But they fail to consider what Jesus said in Matthew 18:6. “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” They have no idea what is coming for them. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. As am I. I pray they accept the truth before it’s too late.
Yet at the same time, I am glad God has opened doors for you to help provide decent, worthwhile entertainment for children. I know it may not be Oscar winning stuff in the world’s eyes, but I guarantee it will last and be remembered a whole lot longer. A far greater legacy than Hollywood types. Life has been so devalued over the years. They have people thinking to refuse who they really are and tell them that they need to be somebody else. It is particularly bad when you are having fewer and fewer homes with a father and mother in the same house.

And this is why I don’t leave my 5 year old unsupervised with a streaming remote. Nothing is “safe”. It’s also why we are seriously considering homeschooling. I’m not saying we need to stick our heads in the sand and act like alternative families don’t exist. I’m saying we don’t need to point them out and parade them as normal to our children. They will see things. They will ask questions when they have them. There is no need to have cartoons initiate the conversation

Thank you for putting this out there! I am so sad that this stuff is streaming on tv and I’m protecting my kiddos as best I can. I am in shocked a the fact that these shows are right there at their fingertips; and worse yet is that they are being groomed. Disgusting. We need to stand up and call them out. I think children should be able to dress up as whatever they want. It should not need to be commercialized in this way. I put a lot of effort into our dressing up box. I remember at school, there were countless school plays. My daughter had wanted to be an ant rather than a butterfly with the other girls. Fortunately she was allowed and a beautiful ant she made too. Personally I think adults should stop interfering either way Let children just have fun without having to put a label on things.
I definitely had a dress up box at home as well. some of my favorite memories with my friends are when we would create elaborate tales and plays. we even filmed many! (Attack of the killer turtles! hahah) I agree. Labels are harmful. Hugs and love xox

This is so repulsive and scary! Little kids are being so confused by what the media is showing. They are trying to brain wash our children so that they would have a confused identity. People think that they’re giving kids a choice, but they are in reality destroying the beautiful innocent image that God has created them in. I won’t trust anything on youtube playlist. Back in the day, I visited an orphanage in Thailand. The person running it was an elderly American and he had a collection of old VHS tapes of old classic movies, cartoons, etc. It was brilliant as the kids were so enthralled over the classic Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther cartoons as well as “Classic” Disney movies as well as Sesame Street.
I’m tired of seeing what I see on TV these days.. so much so that if it isn’t a documentary about wildlife, or a program about vehicles, its not on my TV.
What is happening is an active targeting of children to turn them into whatever letter of the alphabet that takes their fancy.
They’re basically trying to do away with heterosexuals over time. Hence the targeting of children. Given that some states are not allowing Teachers to teach this stuff to kids, they trying their hardest to do it through other means and its just way too obvious. Walt Disney would be rolling in his grave if he saw what was coming out of his company these days. Give it a few years, the standard straight white guy is going to be on the endangered species list.
A couple of days ago, I was out with my brother and we were talking about kids programming that we watched as kids and stuff that literally got us giggling and laughing to this day. Even stuff on Sesame Street.
If parents want good wholesome entertainment for kids, tell them to download old classic cartoons like the Pink Panther, Tom and Jerry, classic Sesame Street. For older children, introduce them to shows like A-Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf, classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc.
And please, for the Love of God, do NOT expose your child to the mind numbing torture that is Teletubbies.
You can’t go wrong with classic Sesame Street. It is educational and its actually entertainment for the whole family without a single sexual reference anywhere.

I agree with you that the sexualisation of children is wrong. Outside the sacrament of marriage it’s wrong for grown-ups too – and yet that is a staple of movies, TV, and advertising.
I hope you do indeed have children. However, I would urge you, as I would any mom, to be aware that some people are gay and some people are trans, and that’s just who they are. It’s immensely important to accept them as they are, and to guide them in appropriate expression of their gender or sexuality. Those of us who are trans can be aware of it from a very early age – I knew from my earliest memories age about 3.
When you’re a mom, I know you will want the best for your children. I’m sure you want the same for all moms. A small minority of moms will have to struggle with helping their kids through the difficult realisation that they’re gay or trans. They too will want the best for their kids; they will want their kids’ peer-group to accept them as who they are. It won’t be easy for them.

Doesn’t matter their background, religion, sexuality, political views, race, whatever. THAT is what we are called to do, and that is absolutely what I will teach my children. What I don’t appreciate is the introduction of ANY sexual ‘stuff’ to toddlers. I don’t think we need to talk to them about gay, straight, bi, etc….anything. They are far too young to be introduced to anything pertaining to sex of any kind… And I want to protect that innocence. And I 100% agree: we need to teach kids to love others no matter what. So important to expose this devilish thing! I wrote about Drag Queen Story Hour, in Public Libraries, a couple of years ago. I am aghast to see all types of parents, even Muslim in their garb, scurry their toddler children to sit in front of a sexual deviant.
Now, in my Hispanic neighborhood, they conveniently have Bilingual Drag Queen Story Hour. We are grievously polluting young minds – impossible to regain their innocence.

The most bone-chilling aspect is that by not fighting to shut it down decades ago, by continuing to fund these corporations and giving them our viewership, merch dollars, our patronage, and trying to sift the good from the bad, by being “patient and tolerant” of evil, Christians have let this happen.
My 4yo accidentally broke out TV a couple months ago… I don’t view it as a loss.

As a parent, this terrifies me. My 3 year old has YouTube kids on my Phone and likes to watch videos in the car of Barbie toys and Peppa pig, but she scrolls through suggested videos and taps on what she wants to see next. I want her to be able to enjoy, but I’m also concerned about what she might come across. I had previously seen this Blues Clues video you mentioned, and it made me sick. Preschoolers should be learning about basic skills, not this mess that will ultimately leave them confused as to who they were created by God to be. But the way I also look at it is this: if people are becoming infertile because of having transgender surgeries, or if people who don’t agree with our views also don’t have kids, then the kids we raise with our values are the future. We must make the effort to teach our kids God’s truth. I am guilty of getting so wrapped up in day to day parenting that I’m not intentional enough most days. Some kids may still get swayed by the world, but it’s not hopeless.

I understand your fears for children you and Steven will have. Neither of my girls will have children so I’ll never be a grandfather. Somewhat sad, but then I see what you see and see it as a blessing.
However, with your exceptionally strong faith, I think you will be able to fight and win the battle for their souls. The joy of having children is great.
Side note – Pastor Chuck’s son is a pastor, and he goes to a gay bar to develop friendships there. They know he’s a pastor and not gay. This is just a ministry he’s taken up; earn their trust so he can show them the way.

I had a good physical therapy session yesterday. I keep getting stronger – gradually. Julie tested positive for COVID last weekend. My tests are negative. Her symptoms are flu-like, but she’s feeling much better now. Overall, we’re doing well. She’ll be filing paperwork soon for leave from work. Nothing is ever easy! I know you and Steven will be GREAT parents!!! The biggest factor in raising kids is modeling good behavior for them, and I know you and Steve will do that automatically. Not having toddlers any more I wasn’t aware of this, but knowing helps me understand the following true story. My wife, April teaches 3-year-olds in a pre-school. One day one little girl asked her who gave her the necklace she was wearing. April said, “My husband did.” The toddler then asked, “Is your husband a man or a woman?” So sad!

I share your disgust. This is what happens when one’s sexual preference becomes their entire identity (or when someone convinces them that it should be). When your identity is a beloved child of God your character and its constant submission to Christ becomes the most important aspect of your personality. Peter – if you read my piece, or any of my articles on transgenderism, you would know that i do not hate trans people. That is the exact opposite. I love all people, no matter what. What I hate is the targeting of children for inappropriate sexual material, in the hopes of indoctrination.
Maybe we should toss our TVs into the bin.

When I was a child in elementary school (a hundred years ago), and even through most of high school, people who were attracted to the same sex were described as “queer.” Although most people today won’t believe it, it was not a homophobic remark, a derogatory put-down, or anything like that.
It was a DESCRIPTION of someone who lived among us but was not like us in that the vast majority believed (and still do) that it is unBiblical, unhealthy, unnatural, and a life style fraught with problems, spiritually, mentally, and physically.
I know. I have a gay sister. I love her dearly, and pray for her persistently, and I strive to be an example of Christ’s love and forgiveness, hoping one day her heart and mind and soul will one day be gloriously transformed in Jesus.
It’s a confrontation – and there’s a need to be vigilant.
I am glad more people are becoming aware.

Thanks for writing about this. It’s so awful. I have two kids, ages 15 and 17. I remember 10-12 years ago they were watching a cartoon called “JoJo’s Circus” and all of a sudden the TV show started talking about alternative families. It broke out into singing about gay families, that it was ok to have two moms or two dads. I had to delete that episode right away. I’ve told people about that episode for years and nobody seems to believe me. I know it was true and your article is basically confirming what I saw, just with different cartoons.
The media’s obsession with gays, trannies, minorities, and liberal policies is disgusting. They have been indoctrinating people for too long. It all started in the 1960s with the radical movement. I read a book by a guy named Saul Alinsky called “Rules for Radicals”. It was terrifying because he outlined how radical liberals should change the world using an outlined handbook of these philosophies. This was all part of their plan, running for 50-60 years now. It’s time for conservatives to fight back. Don’t let the warped people with their socialist philosophies ruin your life. You’re one of the good ones and we are all thankful. The world needs to get back to the basics: God, belief in a higher power, religion, rules, and families.

Please do not buy into the hype of not having children because of the dangers in the world! There have always been dangers against which we cannot isolate our children, but we must “insulate” them with Truth as early as we can. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward,” (Psalm 127:3-5) is still TRUE!
However for our nation, I believe we have passed a “point of no return” as Israel did before the 8th century BCE prophecies of Amos, Hosea, Micah, Isaiah, and Nahum told the nation,
“I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them.
Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen.” (Amos 5:21-23)
Watch for “post-birth abortions” to become legal in many states, transgenderism and unleashing of almost all sexual boundaries to be obliterated, religious confusion and all the ungodliness of 1 Timothy 3 to come to fruition in our lifetime. It is time to mourn for the demise of American ideals.
However, God knows how to protect His own and preserve us from wrath.

I went back and read your post ‘The Intervention.’ I read what your parents had had to do out of love and how they had had to step in and save your life. It was so powerful and as usual very relatable. It was very inspiring for me. It must have absolutely torn your parents apart but then that is our job as parents to do what is right even if it makes us unpopular at times. It is good for us to be reminded even in the midst of your engagement. One day your children may read your writing and your rawness will be a precious gift to them. Your intervention post was a real gift to me. Going back to grass roots is good occasionally, it reminds us how much God has already brought us through.

I’m gonna guess this comment thread is overwhelmingly populated by people who were groomed into Christianity and Catholicism by family members and brace myself for a lot of resistance.
But here’s two thoughts – well, really a thought and an admission:
The admission is that as a member of the LGBTQI+ community, I don’t really like drag. I used to like it when it was a take it or leave it entertainment option. However, these days it is hard to escape and it’s worn me the heck out. I go out to brunch for eggs and a Bloody Mary. I don’t pick my destination based on the drag show, as a matter of fact, I might change my destination if there is one. So, it’s hard for me to go out of my way to decent that piece of my subculture. They’ve got the numbers, they can do it themselves.
And now, my thought…I think a good many people upset by the inclusion of sexual identity in educational curriculum are confusing sexual identity with being sexually active. This is not the goal – you’re projecting your own insecurities or perversion onto these situations. The goal – and I think most of you are smart enough to figure this out yourselves if you could see past your own dogmatic grooming – is to expose young minds to broad cultural differences versus the narrow minded “teaching” they might get at home. It’s the same reasoning behind/side effect of desegregation in public schools: if white and black kids are educated together, they learn by virtue of exposure that kids of varying shades are every bit as human as they are, despite what their racist parents might allow them to be exposed to at home.
Grooming. Y’all need to put your Fox News et al on mute. I watched that 44 minute clip you embedded, you want to talk about sickening? You watch people who host TV shows and actively admit that they stop listening when they hear a phrase that triggers their fragile sexual identity. Tell me you’re close-minded without saying you’re close-minded. That should tell you your own grooming is ongoing, you’re not seeking to live with an open mind and heart when you seek first to judge versus understand…and understanding starts with listening, not judging.
I quite often disagree with Carolyn’s views myself but she has always been polite,respectful and compassionate. I have very little time for Fox News. Much of it is pure propaganda. Nonetheless I value Carolyn’s blog as a place to meet and try to understand people whose views are often at odds with my own.
Carolyn’s blog is unique and special because it brings people together.
As you have stated, I have learned that people to whose views I am often diametrically opposed, “are still human” and have often taught me a great deal even when we disagree.
Hi Caralyn, Thank you for writing about this subject, you are a very courageous and strong woman! I admire you greatly! Because of fear of losing one’s job or position most people will not take the risk to make a stand for the values of God and Jesus. What these people are really afraid of is that God will not provide for them if they make a strand and so instead they allow Satan to be in control. God will always provide for us! If a job is lost or a position is reduced God will open up another job or position instead. Sometimes we have to have losses in order for God to bring something better in to our lives and to serve His purposes. Just look what God has done for you. It is difficult to walk in faith! Keep your courage you are an inspiration to others.

Where can Satan do the most damage? In the minds of youth and teens. Depression, anxiety, low self esteem, addictions and disorders, the list goes on. It’s nothing new, really. Just packaged differently. Like someone else commented earlier, the world our grandchildren have to grow up in is a bit scary. All the more reason we stand firm in our beliefs and set the example, building a firm foundation for them to stand on.

Unfortunately, we should not be surprised by the Adversary’s latest attack on children and education in general. The god of this present world is not the God who created it, but he has been allowed – for a time – to blind the minds of many.

Oh my goodness, this is outrageous and SO awful!!! I had no idea! My kids haven’t watched Blue’s Clues in awhile, but I’m glad to know that it should be avoided. That’s pure sickness. The poor children of this world. 🙁
