What is a Woman?
The title of conservative podcaster, Matt Walsh’s controversial documentary, just released last week, June 1.
A film that is meeting huge criticism among the LGBTQ+ community, as Walsh sets out across the world — from the US, to Canada, to Africa — to talk to experts, trying to find someone to be able to define the question, what is a woman.
This isn’t the first time that question has been in the news…as famously in the second day of Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearings, when point-blank asked to provide a definition for the word, woman, Jackson could not define the word woman, saying…”not in this context,” and after an uncomfortably awkward fumbling silence, uttered that she’s “not a biologist.”
Seen as a “gotcha” question by woke left extremists pushing transgender agendas among adults — and children, complete with puberty blockers, gender affirming care, and drag queen exposure for kids — this question is really the fundamental question that, as a floundering society, we must be able to define.
And yet — every single “woke” expert — from medical professionals, to college professors, to therapists, politicians, surgeons, transgender people who have undergone surgery — not a single one could answer the question. The closest they got was, “a person who identifies as a woman…” which is a non-answer.
The only correct answer to the question, came from an indigenous tribe in Africa — who blatantly laughed in Walsh’s face at the notion of a woman with a penis. They had it right. A man is a man, and a woman is a woman.
The film touched on more than just that though — it spotlighted the unfairness of transgender female athletes (biological men) competing in female sports. It illuminated the dangers of issuing puberty blockers/hormone pills to children, and how it’s child abuse to issue these drugs — which are also used to chemically castrate pedophiles — to children. It touched on the dangers women face with biological men being able to use women’s bathrooms — especially in schools, and spotlighted the Loudoun County school district lawsuit from last year where a transgender youth raped two young women in the high school girls’ bathroom.
The film was all over the map.
However there was something glaringly missing from this documentary. Something that, in my humble opinion is linchpin of this entire issue: God.
Walsh mentioned God absolutely zero times.
The only mention of God was by the tribe in Africa.
Walsh asks: Can a man become a woman?
“No.”
Walsh: What about a transgender?
“No. If you want to become a lady but you are a man, there is something wrong in your family. Something wrong in you.”
Walsh: So you don’t spend a lot of time thinking about gender?”
“No — because that is God’s plan. I’m shocked by what you’re telling me.
To which, Walsh just glosses over, and moves on.
The documentary — it was good. Don’t get me wrong, but the argument without God — it just seemed hollow. Superficial.
Because if you don’t include God in the argument, then really…why should you care if a person wants to disregard their biological makeup and live life as a different — or their own made up — gender?
And I get why Walsh left it out. Though a devout Catholic, Walsh didn’t want to give the left the ability to “blame” this video on “a religious extremist’s viewpoint.” He didn’t want to give them a scapegoat to “discredit” the arguments presented in the film. Walsh himself has said this on his podcast, The Matt Walsh Show.
But frankly, the argument is painfully incomplete without it.
Because the whole reason why transgenderism is wrong, is because it denies the work of God. Genesis 1:26-17 states that we are all created in the image and likeness of God, male or female.
To reject and deny one’s biological identity as a creation of God, is to reject and deny God, Himself. It places them higher than God. It’s saying — I know better than God. It’s my will, not His will that is correct. God made a mistake.
It’s the idolatry of self. And, in my unpopular opinion, I fully believe that — just as the enemy uses eating disorders to control young women — so too is the enemy using this movement of “gender fluidity” and transgenderism to separate people from God.
Dr. Marci Bowers even said so. Bowers, a woke surgeon who specializes in transgender transition surgeries, and is a transgender woman himself, said — in referring to the “bottom surgery” he performs —
Bowers: “We’re altering the physical characteristics of the individual to fit better with a gender identity that is female.”
Walsh: This is all constructed from the penis?
Bowers: Yes that’s right. The surgeries are quite refined in the sense that they really – not only do they look like female anatomy, but they also function that way – for the most part. I mean certainly it’s a bit of a Faustian Bargain. You know, it’s not perfect.
And, what, might you ask, is the definition of a Faustian Bargain?
Trading one’s soul to the devil in exchange for knowledge or power.
I think that’s the mic drop I’ll end on tonight.
And what was the answer that Walsh finally landed on to his titular question? An adult human female.
I pray for all of those struggling with gender dysphoria, that they may come to see and appreciate the beautiful gift that they, themselves are, as a creation of God — who is loving, powerful, and doesn’t make mistakes.

It is very disturbing to me that people can be so unhappy with their gender. Why? I am 61 and have always liked being a man! The evil one is using every tool at its disposal to warp and twist the minds of as many people as possible and pervert our beautiful children. Surgically altering your body is a slap in the face to our Lord. Trading your soul for knowledge and power sounds like something evil politicians and other will do, pure evil. Sorry, this stuff makes me angry…
I agree! I love being a woman! Men love trying to change themselves, who wouldn’t. I love changing my hair, my makeup. Having a cycle sucks! Giving birth hurts. Will men want that? Hi C! You’re right. To separate God from the discussion removes any standard. That’s the reason this whole mess has gotten as far as it has, they’ve removed the standard. Now they can make any claim they want.
But God still sets the standard, and they can’t fight the truth. The sad part is that the medical profession is backing them instead of sticking to the truth and helping them. Rather than diagnose their mental illness as gender dysphoria, they just pat them on the head and tell them they’re fine. If that’s all it takes to practice medicine now, I guess I could identify as a doctor. Definitely need to pray for the people truly dealing with this, and pray God helps the rest of us show real compassion by sharing His truth with them.

I find myself at a loss to talk about this yet I want to hear, talk, be kind and understanding but it often doesn’t feel right and I found your sentence to say it well. Putting their will above Gods will. Very well said. There’s more to it yes. I often wonder if people feel broken in their gender so they try a different gender hoping healing will come. You seem to know what God has to say more than anyone else. How do you do it? Does God speak only to you? The bible says no one knows the mind of God. So you must be very special.
How is it that an all-knowing God makes so many mistakes? Mistakes with people. Are there mistakes made with animals? Do ants have identity problems? Do giraffes lack a moral compass? Please let us know what God has to say about that.
When you speak of the “idolatry of self” I fear you are speaking of yourself. To yap so much with so little knowledge boggles the mind.

This paragraph to me says that Christians need to stop being afraid of what the left is going to say about the truth, and continue to speak the truth, even to people like the one on here who seems to know what everyone thinks and at the same time thinks themselves very special.
If those people would spend as much time reading the Bible as they do so-called “great literature” they would all be less ignorant about spiritual matters – which in their present state they are completely unable to understand.

Wonderful message there. God knew what His creation would look like from the beginning. And everything is as He created it; trees the same shape and color. Moon, sun, and stars also have the same appearance God gave them. I mean everything, His creation had no error and needed no correction. [Gen 1:27 God created man in His image, in the Divine image He created them; male and female He created them] and it pleased Him very much. The woman is a man with womb [purposely meant to incubate the man’s seed and give forth to young one], while men lack the womb [because they are designed as seed donors]. God made them both fertile with the ability to reproduce and multiply. There is nowhere we see that a man and woman can exchange gender, LOL. [Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this]. It’s God’s will women to remain being women, and men also appreciate being men, in everything. It makes God happy when we accept ourselves.

It is so disturbing that some people are still struggling to find their identity. Trying to become someone else. Natural laws cannot be broken. Anyone who breaks natural law shall die. Just as a fish must live inside water. It is a natural law. If a fish lives outside the water, it dies. Although I do agree that the fact that God created us each as a male or female is the basic foundation, and it is how I explain gender to my three year old, I do see where he is coming from on not mentioning God in these interviews or the documentary as a whole. The people he interviews are already defensive, and if he brings God into the conversation it would be an easy way out for them that isn’t their denial of natural gender being true. They could dismiss the conversation by stating it’s religion based. I think he had to go by basic biological facts. It was eye opening and scary to see how far this stuff is going medically. We have so much to guard the next generation against…and we can’t guard them by keeping them from it. We have to teach them truth and tell them there are lies out there that go against it. Harmful lies that can truly destroy their lives if they get sucked into it. Appreciate your insight on the documentary ❤️

I think it is one of the enemy’s schemes to get people to believe the lie that they weren’t created “right” or they wouldn’t be feeling that they needed to alter their body to feel better. The “Faustian bargain” reference strikes a chord with me. There are so many people who feel -whether from life circumstances or biological influences, that they ‘must’ change from male, female, or make a new definition for self-acceptance. And all we really crave -love and acceptance- is present when we accept God as our Lord and Savior.
It really struck a chord with me. so wild that this person — who I doubt even totally comprehended the actual biblical significance of such a “throw away” phrase — it was wild. Amen — our deepest desires can only be found in Him! Hugs and love xox

The documentary was heart-breaking (for me) to watch. To realize the generation who will suffer the most at the hands of this evil are my grandchildren’s. Good article. I saw the movie, and yes, the Tribe is the one who spoke the truth with God. A woman is a female designed by God. It’s pure child abuse, and what the one nurse said about how they don’t even know the long-term effects of puberty blockers—praying for the protection of our children.

This remains a none-question it is a position statement.
The fundamental answer is biological, but the individual asking the question wants an answer to a different question.
How brave are you? Will you stand up for your belief or cave in because someone else gets hurt by your words. Whatever a person identifies as in gender terms, we have to accept if we won’t speak up then we will be trodden down and our opinions and values are undermined by ourselves.
So those who make the stand and define a woman as god create eve to be the biological mother of all humans I applaud the direct response to the rest of the Christians out there who can’t then some soul searching is required. God defines the terms not us.

You raise a really interesting point. Of course God is the creator of male and female. But there is a growing number of people who cannot accept this premise. So I understand Walsh’s dilemma: Do you make the God connection and give the young a handy excuse to write off the whole enterprise as based on some “silly superstition” or do you stick to a premise that is generally accepted among the religion skeptics and make them defend their beliefs based on that limited premise?
I kind of see his point – we are never going to convince someone about God if we cannot even convince that person about scientifically-verifiable laws of nature. But I really appreciate you taking his argument and adding this critical link which completes the picture. Thank you for standing up and taking the arrows on this controversy (that should not be controversial at all).
That was exactly the sentence that stood out to me most in the whole documentary, when Dr. Bowers stated that “certainly it’s a bit of a Faustian bargain.” What a statement. It reveals they know exactly what is at stake and the immense cost of what they are doing. Yet they do it anyway. The battle today is for the hearts and minds and LIVES of children.

When he interview the africian woman you really get a sense of how warped the west has become. Right throu the Bible there is story after story of the people abandoned God and doing there own thing, and we all know how them stories end.
I dont know how this story will end but I think the world needs an end to this madness.

I think going off scripture alone makes this difficult to answer. I believe we need further light and knowledge, or modern revelation to know the answer to this. My belief is that God the Father and Jesus Christ revealed themselves to a prophet, I believe in part because the nature of God has become so confusing. So I believe God has a body, which also explains that verse in Genesis. We are literally made in His image.
