Censorship on Social Media

Oh my gosh, do you guys DELIVER!

THANK YOU for all the incredible zit advice in my last post!

Long story short, I woke up a-week-ago-today, with the most ginormous hormonal cyst right in the smack dab center of my chin. And TODAY is our engagement shoot session.

And so, naturally, I was freaking out because my chin had sprouted a literal tomato, and I was fearing for the worst.

Let’s just say that the sage advice, offered in the comments section was PRICELESS — and I thank you!! I took several suggestions, and let’s just say that today, “big bertha” has shrunken down to little more than a minuscule bug bite. I’m about to go get ready for our photoshoot at sunset, and I am just over the moon with excitement.

I’ve decided to just go into it having fun! I’m taking pictures with the love of my life on a bright sunny day in a beautiful (err….sometimes)…city! What more could a gal ask for!

Anywho…tonight’s topic.

CENSORSHIP

Yesterday morning, I woke up, opened up my Pinterest account like I do every morning, only to get an error message that my profile had been deactivated.

Censorship of conservative content on social media is nothing. Especially with hot button issues in the news. Question is: how long are people going to put up with it? #politics #conservative #faith #catholic #censorship #socialmedia #prolife #america #roevwade #whatisawoman

My heart dropped. This is concerning because Pinterest is a huge source of my income. I have over 2.2 million monthly views on that platform (and if you’d like to follow me, I’d be greatly appreciative), and to lose that revenue stream would be, truly detrimental.

Censorship of conservative content on social media is nothing. Especially with hot button issues in the news. Question is: how long are people going to put up with it? #politics #conservative #faith #catholic #censorship #socialmedia #prolife #america #roevwade #whatisawoman

I emailed them, dug deeper, and researched WHY THE HECK my platform was deactivated…and the answer was that it “violated community guidelines.”

AKA — my conservative content just wasn’t flying with the “powers that be” over on that platform. I suspect it was THIS POST and THIS POST that triggered the red flags.

But it’s a frightening thing isn’t it? That here we are in America, and just because you hold a traditional moral value, you’re censored as being harmful to society?!

Welcome to the home of the free….

It just makes me really upset. What is the world going to look like in 5 or ten years…or heck, 5 or ten months…when all that’s allow to be read, viewed, listened to or streamed is woke garbage that teaches that down is up, wrong is right, and Christian moral values are bigoted, hateful and dangerous?

I suspect that private platforms like Daily Wire Plus, or Parler, or even DuckDuckGo are going to see a rise in popularity and traffic, as people are just plain sick and tired of being told by radicals of what and how to think.

And further to this, I also suspect that given all the extreme backlash over the overturning of Roe v. Wade, many companies have broadcast that they will pay for the travel expenses or medical costs of having an abortion. Companies are making it loud and clear where they stand on the issue, and I foresee that people are going to start voting with their pocketbooks.

I mean, my family…exclusively Kroger shoppers for, no exaggeration: 40 years…we have stopped shopping at Kroger after they recently came out last month as joining the list of companies now covering abortion travel costs.

Censorship of conservative content on social media is nothing. Especially with hot button issues in the news. Question is: how long are people going to put up with it? #politics #conservative #faith #catholic #censorship #socialmedia #prolife #america #roevwade #whatisawoman

The divide in this country is continuing to go deeper and deeper and deeper. And I just don’t know where all of this leads.

I did end up getting my Pinterest page reactivated. I emailed them probably 10 different times yesterday, and they finally conceded that it was “a mistake” and they apologized for the inconvenience.

But I will say, it does make me wonder, and definitely makes me keep my eyes open.

My question for you is, are you investing in any alternative media sources? Do you foreseeing doing so in the future? Are your purchasing habits being influenced by a company’s stance on these hot button issues?

I know that for me, when I have kids, I am for sure going to be having a very limited list of channels we’re going to watch…and Disney will not be one of them.

Let me know what you think! And if you could spare a follow on my Pinterest page, it would REALLY mean a lot — it helps keep this blog going! (And you get amazing video content over there too!)

  1. Hate to say it but Most forms of social media are just another form of control. Say the right things and prosper, but step out of line and we’ll take away your income. There is a great interest and investment in keeping a narrative going. I’d suggest diversify income sources. I’m just getting started on some platforms but already concerned that my views will only lead to removal as I’m already booted off of Fb and the blue 🐦. God bless! Stay true to who you are and where God leads.

  2. Wow, Caralyn, I am so glad that you got your Pinterest account reactivated! I agree with you about what will this country look like in just a few short years? I use Instagram every day and have been annoyed many times at how some of my comments are deemed not good and the software gives me a few seconds to delete the comment. that’s called censorship! And, who owns IG as far as I know? The evil Facebook. Rotten companies!

Reading your thoughts, I thought of how China won’t allow so many things on the internet that we enjoy now, or for a while. Are we becoming a communist America? I remember a trip in 1968 when I was just 8 years young, we went to the Disneyland in Anaheim, California. I still have happy memories from that trip and I am 61 years young!

What Disney has become is nothing short of putrid as are so many things in America today. During my last trip to Michigan to visit family, I mentioned to my 94 year old father that I believe that America has seen her best days and that we are on a slippery slope to our end. And, he agreed 100 percent. What does that tell you and I?

Best wishes on your photo shoot, have a total blast! God bless you both. ❤️

  3. I enjoy Rumble, Parler, GETTR & Truth Social lol i know it’s a lot but i enjoy supporting the alternatives to FB and Twitter.

  4. I think the absolute world of you, but the fact that you’d care what Kroger thinks worries me. Please don’t let the things of this world (which will, by definition, dislike you) bother you in the least. Please, please, please, keep promoting the good, the true, and the beautiful. Yours, Brad

    • Thank you Bradley, I appreciate that. Yeah, you bring up a great point there. thanks. Hugs and love xox

  5. You, Mary and Mark, have taken a moral stand and eschewed Kroger. How brave. Pray-tell which supermarkets are safe or will they have to eat only at Chick-fil-A?

You, however, haven’t given up on Pinterest, which has the same abortion policy as your forlorn grocery. And they have kicked right-to-life groups off the site.

I guess money talks — hypocrisy wins. Amen!!

    • You’ve described religion in America perfectly: pick and choose what you like, ignore what you don’t like and legislate your beliefs to distract from the hypocrisy.

  6. Sorry, I do not use “social media.” That’s a misnomer if there ever was one. I’m not saying no one should use it…… wait, I believe I am! 🙂 Facebook, Google, TikTok, et al, are just plain no good (my favorite adjective is “evil”). And a lot of my family use Facebook, and they know what I think about it!

I do have family members who have started using GAB as an alternative to Facebook. I have not.

And I sincerely hope people do let companies know their dissatisfaction of their “woke” policies by how much they DON’T spend on their products. Money talks, but the absence of money shouts.

Another way is to call local branches of companies and protest to them. And don’t be surprised if they blame their corporate offices for unpopular decisions, but when you say you won’t be buying from their brand / company anymore until things change, that does get their attention. Managers report to district managers report to regional managers report to corporate, etc.

Good post! I pray the photo shoot went well.

    • Thank you Myron, I appreciate your thoughts on this. And I admire your no social media lifestyle! that is truly admirable. you’re right – there’s not a whole lot of good on there. lots of great points. i’ll have to check out gab. Hugs and love xox

  7. The power to say what you want is dwindling. I haven’t been shut out of Pinterest yet, but Twitter jail isn’t so bad! LoL. Seriously, the CA bill Ab-5 passed and everyone is going crazy. Our freedom to make money and supply for our families is slowly being taken away. Great post! Hope to see you again on the boards!

    • You’re right about that – it is dwindling before our very eyes. thanks for sharing that! Hugs and love xox

  8. Censorship has been going on for thousands of years. The very term comes from Latin, and was an office held by Roman officials. Now, if you want to say what you want, you end up paying for your own bandwidth and site, as you do here on WordPress. Very few people actually make money off their Internet presence, I certainly don’t, but when your values and beliefs go against those professed by some company you have signed a TOS agreement with, they can for no reason terminate your account. It’s part of the boilerplate in the TOS so they can cover their behinds if somebody does something stupid like incite a riot.

I am really angry myself about the way the world is going, but as a nobody with no money and no connections, there is nothing I can do. I’m not a threat to the system though, because I am not popular. The more popular you become, the more scrutiny the people in power will have for you. And if you strike a nerve by saying something that goes against the politically correct narrative being foisted upon America now, like telling people something obvious like abortion ends a human life, well, get ready for it, because people do not want to hear anything that goes against their fixed ideas.

    • Thank you William for this thoughtful reply. You’re right – there’s not much we can do to influence the mega giants and the powers that be. And you’re right – the truth has officially become unwelcome. Glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  9. The important thing is to have your email list. I stopped shopping at Krogers, too—no more Disney. Try to make good, responsible decisions on where to spend our money. Shine our lights where God puts us. ❤

    • that’s a great point, Deborah. THAT they cannot take away!! thank you for sharing your heart on this. So sad. Hugs and love xox

  10. Great your account is reactivated.

Yes, I am: Telegram, and waiting on Truth Social…

But I do not have much of a social media presence at the moment – e.g. my Facebook is more or less empty, and instead I point to my website. Same with Twitter, etc.

    Instead, I want to have in-person community… 🙏🏼

And to then post about it, with video – and I hope music

  11. Glad to hear you got your account reactivated…it is completely unfair that these “social media” companies can just lock your account without giving you the specific reason why. As for media for kids, I can’t wait for DW Kids. I hope to get my daughter hooked on it, because I unfortunately let her start watching videos on YouTube Kids before I knew how far Disney was going with their content. I watch things with her, but you never know when something will be slipped in. As for the pro-life argument, it just shows what this world is coming to when we say the action is evil and should be stopped, but the other side attacks us as individuals, calling us evil for opposing it and that WE must be torn down and destroyed in society. If you get a chance, watch today’s episode of Cooper Stuff (YouTube or Facebook). He interviews Victoria Robinson, and it’s eye-opening on what that industry is like.

    • Thank you Ellen! Yes! me too – i am very grateful! yes! DW kids is going to be so great! i love their content. i listen to all their podcasts, it’s really great. I’ll go check out Cooper Stuff right now! thank you for the recco!! Hugs and love xox

  12. I’m sure the shoot will go wonderfully well. I have stopped purchasing goods from companies who don’t adequately pay their staff and/or don’t follow ethical, sustainable practices.

  13. I’m not seeing the censorship here. Social Media companies post their Community Standards – although they can be admittedly ambiguous, but I think that they have to be in order to *retain* a tether to the Freedom of Speech – and if you violate those standards, you can’t post there, it’s not censorship, it’s protecting the rights of all by filtering out content that is misleading and damaging in a society like ours that consistently fails to educate its children to be able to think critically without doing so only to bend over backward to get the outcome we want from our “thinking”.
It’s frustrating that this often happens with little or no warning, but you can’t play the victim card simply for being uninformed about the Community Standards and what they company seems appropriate.
I’m not the biggest fan on SM, because it’s a bully pulpit in the wrong hands…which somehow empowers people who – to put it kindly – feel disenfranchised.
But whatever you call it, the bulk of those disenfranchised people are people who have clung to narrow-minded thinking that has caused them to fall behind the times and out of mainstream popularly accepted thought.
It’s their own fault, but I get the security of “what we’ve always known to be true”…but it’s not an excuse for not challenging oneself to keep an open mind and grow one’s understanding and knowledge.
It’s the same mindset that allows racism to thrive in this country to this day. THRIVE.
Is that the company you and people of faith want to keep? It’s a rhetorical question, since you also keep the company of the GOP. If you support the overt dishonesty of people like Trump, solely because of promises they make despite living their lives in absolute contrast to those promises, then a little White Supremacy won’t bother those folks. Especially if they can legislate their hypocrisy and bigotry. Then it HAS to be right, we’ve NEVER passed a law that history has eventually proven wrong.
But the great news here is that you think America is turning into a communist country. You’ve stopped shopping at one of – if not the largest – America’s largest grocery chains. Cutting off your nose despite your face. With knee-jerk responses like that, it’s a slippery slope to growing your own food for yourselves as a community and then living only amongst people who live the same way until you are a community unto your own religion…like the Amish or Mennonites.
Which, come to think of it, would be better for everyone. Do that. Take your anachronistic hypocritical mindset and just go live an isolated life of happiness in a religious little echo chamber of a community.
Everyone wins…unless choosing to do that violates your right to control others freedoms because of your religion.
Think on that last bit – you know it’s wrong and still do it. Openly. On Social Media – and you think you should be able to do it without ramifications for the damage that your words can cause? Wow.
You Google “violence against gay, trans and non-binary people” and then sit and wonder how your words might have empowered others to commit that violence. You don’t condone it, but you don’t censor yourself (because of your freedoms!) and that creates an environment where others believe it’s their freedom to hurt or kill others whose beliefs don’t align with their own undereducated and out of date beliefs.
“What is a woman?”…whatever *you* say, is the answer you’re looking for, I guess.

    • sadly, i’m afraid you’re right about that Rollie. That will be a devastating day. gotta keep praying! Hugs and love xox

  14. Yay, you got reactivated. 🙂

From what I hear so this is unreliable, but there are bots and algorithms that look for key words and phrases and they are extremely unreliable. One guy got demonetized and flagged because the YouTube bot didn’t recognize the last name of Yaeger, as in the pilot Chuck Yaeger. mmmm…

Keep up the good fight. 😉

    • thank you friend! yeah unreliable is an understatement for sure. Thank you for the encouragment! you rock, my friend!! Hugs and love xox

  15. Glad you got your Pinterest reactivated for your recipes, insights on ED, and fascism lite, er, fashion insights. Maybe hate speech is just hate speech and sometimes you need to know where you cross a line. Happy that your zit got better though. Hugs!

  16. My question for you is, are you investing in any alternative media sources? YES! Do you foreseeing doing so in the future? YES YES! Are your purchasing habits being influenced by a company’s stance on these hot button issues? YES YES YES! Thank you for being brave enough to post what you’re posting. Keep it up, we need your voice to continue.

    • oh that is SO GOOD, Deborah! I’m so glad to hear that, and thanks for the encouragement! Hugs and love xox

  17. It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I’m glad you’re up and running again. And… I foresee another look at the question you posed in another post of crossing the picket lines, will come to roost again. Looking forward to more posts.

  18. I love how you cry “censorship,” but support rights being stripped by millions of women.

  19. Hi Caroline,

On this topic I would recommend you looking into getting a replacement for Patreon which has been notorious for censoring conservative voices. The most common ones are conservative YouTubers who only use it as a person to person crowd support/sponsorship tool. Most of these don’t even post things to Patreon and still get de-platformed/de-monetized because of their YouTube videos questioning the woke narrative.
From what I’ve seen the alternative that has become popular is the company Subscribe Star. I suggest you carve out a bit of time in your schedule to take a look at it and research alternatives in case you get hit with the ax, again.
But it is good to hear that your persistence paid off to get reinstated on Pinterest.

    -Zachary Coffey

    • Hi Zachary! Thank you for this great tip! yeah the world has become increasingly hostile for conservative voices, that’s for sure indeed. I’ll have to check out Subscribe Star. Hugs and love xox

      • I hope you find it appealing as a substitute for the Patreon and get all of your Patrons converted over to Subscribe Star before Patreon gives you the ax. I also want to apologize for spelling your name wrong. *Hugs back*

  20. I have stopped addressing political topics on my blog. I was well along on hammering out details for a new job 3 or 4 years ago and mentioned my blog in a conversation about potential conflicts of interest. Within days after a huge spike in page views I received a “Thank you . . But” rejection letter. The HR person who had been so accessible stopped taking my calls, and only after I tried contacting others there did I get a call with a vague explanation of budget cuts and they were not hiring anyone. It might have been true but I doubt it. And I’m in the midwest.

So yes, put backup plans in place, then backup plans for your backup plans. These folks will not make it easy on you.

  21. What I dont get about this WOKE movement is who is behind it, surely there can only be a few at most transgender LBTQ+ people working at these companies, what give that few people so much power.

The LGBT+ community have went from wanting to be included to demanding to be included, and if you say anything negative against us, we will destroy your career and reputation. Hopeful it ends soon cause it is ruining free speech. The foundation of FREEDOM.
