Hello from Ohio!
My fiancé, Steven, and I are currently on the plane flying back to NYC! We made a quick 48 hour trip back home to celebrate my brother’s 40th birthday!
And YES – it has certainly been a whirlwind of a week with wedding dress shopping and then this weekend escape! I feel like I need to just hole up for the near foreseeable future and just chain myself to my laptop and WORK!
Which is exactly what I will be doing starting tomorrow morning at 7am!
Some BIG news: I SAID YES TO THE DRESS!
This was my face when I did!
Really buried the lead there! Haha but I am SO excited. I can safely say, I have NEVER seen a dress like this, and I would have NEVER thought I would go for anything like it!
It is a COMPLETE departure from what I thought I’d like. In fact, I tried on the EXACT dress I have been in love with on Pinterest, and it was totally underwhelming!
I will say: I had my “bridal moment” when I tried on the dress I ALMOST went with.
I put it on, and I was standing on the pedestal looking in the mirror, and I started crying. I had never felt more feminine and beautiful. And it got me thinking about the journey I have been on with my body. From the destruction I inflicted on it during my anorexia: hating it and abusing it; followed by the excruciating pain and illness, rebuilding it, cell by cell with my ulcerative colitis. And to be standing there, actually feeling — and believing — that I was beautiful, and worthy of a beautiful dress — I was overtaken with emotion. I felt God’s hand over me, giving me this peace in my heart that I have never experienced.
It was a moment I will remember and cherish.
And in OTHER news, there was also another reason why Steven and I were in Ohio this weekend…but I can’t say much more than that.
It has nothing to do with wedding things. Nothing to do with family parties. And everything to do with the future….
But that’s all I’ll say about THAT right now! 🙂
Anywho – I have to sign off because the plane is landing. BUT I just wanted to say thank you for your patience this last week with my mom visiting and finding THE DRESS! I promise from here forward content will be as expected!
