My Five Biggest TIME SAVERS in the Kitchen

It’s no secret, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. But I am efficient! And over the years, I’ve definitely come to find some short cuts in the kitchen –whether that’s cooking, cleaning, processing leftovers, you name it!

So Steven…my incredibly smart (and handsome) husband…encouraged me that those time saving secrets would be a great blog post!

So here we are!

Here are my Top TIME SAVING SECRETS when it comes to the kitchen!

1.) Dishwasher-Safe Cutting Boards

I’ll tell you what — the last thing I want to do after making a beautiful, delicious meal, is hand wash a heavy, cumbersome cutting board. I just can’t be bothered. A dishwasher-safe cutting board — especially these with the little non-slip grippies on the bottom — it makes a WORLD of a difference!

Plus, this one is made from wood, so you’re not cutting on plastic. Steven read a study that we’re ingesting microplastics from cutting food on plastic cutting boards, so since then, I’ve tossed the plastic boards in exchange for wooden ones. Dishwasher safe, AND made of wood, count me in!

2.)Dawn Dish POWERWASH SPRAY

OK, so we all love Dawn dish soap. But have you tried their POWERWASH SPRAY? This makes cleaning up SO efficient. Plus, there’s so much more you can do with it than just the dishes: we clean our induction range, we spray down our stainless steel sink after cooking raw meats, it’s just SO CONVENIENT!

3.) Silicone Crock Pot Liners

These silicone crock pot liners are such a life saver, because NO DISHES! You cook your crock pot meal in these, and then just throw it in the dishwasher when you’re finished! No more mess!

They DO make plastic disposable liners, but we don’t love the idea of cooking food in high heat in plastic. (Like I mentioned before, we’re trying to watch out for microplastics as we’re preparing to try to start a family soon! So these silicone liners are an excellent alternative!

As a bonus Time Saver: as it’s previously mentioned helpful cousin: nonstick tinfoil!

4) Garlic Rocker

I’ve mentioned this before, but the Garlic Rocker is THE BEST kitchen gadget for saving time, and it saves your fingers from smelling like garlic! Best tool EVER!

5) Subscription Delivery Service

Ok – so this last one, I was VERY resistant to start, because I thought…grocery is just too convenient! I’m capable of going to the store, so WHY pay for a delivery service?

And hear me out: I still go to the grocery store every week. However, when it comes to the heavy items that I’m always buying: water bottles, sparkling water, hard seltzer, juices etc….those, I have on a reoccuring subscription on amazon. And they will even give you a discount of 15% off when you sign up for a subscription delivery. It’s WONDERFUL, and especially living in a condo, trudging up to our place with those heavy items, it’s so nice to have them simply show up at our door!

So there you go, those are my top five time savers in the kitchen!

  1. I love your ideas to speed things up, Caralyn, I too always use Dawn soap but haven’t tried that spray bottle. I’ll pick one up next time I’m in Albertson’s! There aren’t many dishes to do though since I live by myself. You are so pretty in your photos! 😊

  2. I hadn’t thought of getting plastic in my food from the cutting mats that I use. 😖 I gave up my crockpot and only use my insta pot now . My timesaver is leaving stuff that I use daily on the counter .🤣

  3. Love this, and have a request – in every picture you post, you just look radiant. Do you have a skincare routine to share??

    • Hi Dani, oh my gosh you are too kind! Thank you! Yes I do! I will make a skincare post on Monday! 🙂 Hugs and love xox
