Harrison Butker’s Benedictine Commencement Address

If you’ve been on the Internet today, you’ve probably seen Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, getting absolutely dragged for — according to liberals and feminists — being “misogynistic,” “anti-LGBTQ” and completely “backward thinking towards women.”

I want to go on the record here, and say that I stand 100% with every word Butker spoke. In fact, I stood and applauded after my husband and I watched it over dinner tonight.

He is courageous. He is incredibly articulate. And he’s a man that stands for his faith and the truth. And I completely stand by him!

The backlash he has received for stating that his most important role in life is his vocation as a husband and father, and that his wife loves her vocation as a wife and mother — is absolutely baffling. His words were beautiful and filled with authentic emotion. It was a demonstration of powerful masculinity.

The NFL has come out with a statement saying that Butker’s views are not reflective of the NFL’s. What cowards.

How many NFL players have been caught up in crime — domestic abuse, knocking up endless women, violence with guns, drugs, etc — and the NFL is silent, and doesn’t say a word about that atrocious behavior. And yet when devout Catholic, Butker, publicly states that he believes in being a present husband and father in a Christ-centered marriage, traditional gender roles, attending Mass, and finding your vocation — THAT is what the NFL takes a stand against.

It is almost laughable.

He was speaking at Benedictine College, one of the only actually still really Catholic colleges left in the US. A tiny Catholic college where the students and faculty still are authentically conservative and follow the Church teaching…

He was speaking to them, as a fellow Catholic.

It’s ludicrous that you can’t even talk to your fellow believers (who by the way loved his speech and responded super positively as you will hear in the video) without the left being outraged.

He was sharing the Truth. And I commend him for doing so.

That’s all for tonight.

Have a beautiful evening.

  1. It’s a shame that not everyone agrees with Butker‘s remarks, but that’s the problem with freedom. Maybe one day America will be like better nations and demand that all its citizens think and speak alike. God willing.

  2. I can feel your passion for the truth in your words, Caralyn. The evil one and its minions are hard at work at every level of our government and society. I applaud and respect this great man! He is a True American. God bless him and his family, and why not make him our president? 🙏🏻✝️🇺🇸

  3. It’s so refreshing to hear that Christian, conservative speakers are sharing the truth regardless of what others will harp about. I just learned that my little denomination (LCMS Lutheran) is starting a new college that will remain independently funded with only Lutheran professors. People are tired of the world’s agenda! I’m glad people are speaking up. That means you, too! You’re an excellent model Carolyn. Keep sharing. 👍♥️ (Also, so excited for you as baby’s arrival gets closer)! 🙂

  4. The left? It’s not a political thing. Even women at the ceremony were pissed. He deemed degrees worthless for women. Then doubled down and said it’s better when women don’t have thoughts and just make babies. Come on! Do you have a degree? And a job? Doesn’t that mean something to you?

  5. Humans inhumanity to humans is ever present in all parts of our world. Lack of respect, name calling, bullying, etc. should have no place in our world. Why can’t we just love one another as Christ called us to do? Why can’t we live with respect and dignity? It’s a sad situation. Must make God cry!

  6. I heard about this, but I generally have been ignoring anything about the Chiefs, after the way most of America seemed to side with the bullies who have already won Super Bowls recently over a quintessential American underdog story, just because one of the bullies is screwing some mediocre pop star. But upon reading more closely, he’s completely right.

  7. Great post, as usual. We are called to be a Shining Light upon the hill and he obviously did just that. Loved every word. And he is correct in all that he said. I worked for 20 years and then became a mom. Some days, being a mom feels a lot harder than being in the workplace, but the job of raising kids to be young men and women isn’t done overnight. The outburst from the Tolerant Left shows how truly Intolerant they are – they can’t stand to hear any opinion but their own.

  8. You said it! It’s just unbelievable the way traditional values are mocked and criticized in our modern culture. How have so many, even among the older generations, gravitated to this position in such a short time? I suppose I know, I’ve witnessed it in my 72 years, but the full scale assault on biblical values sure feels like it’s crept up on us. It’s a sad gradual cultural shift, but I see the hand of Satan in it, as well. Thanks for your words, sister.

  9. So glad someone else has said this. I stated pretty much the same thing on Facebook, and have heard crickets …. but at least nobody had a coronary with me about it.

  10. Sounds like what Päivi Räsänen has been going through in Finland for quoting the Bible in a tweet and criticizing her church for LGBQ support. She has been cleared TWICE but an ungodly prosecutor is STILL taking her to court again! But “we who read the back of the book know who wins!” Hallelujah for folks like Butker and Räsänen who do not waver in their faith.
May Father find US as faithful!❤️&🙏, 🤠
