If you’re reading this, I’d like to welcome you and give you a hug.
Maybe you’re the parent or loved one of someone suffering with an eating disorder. Perhaps you’re in the throes of anorexia yourself. Maybe you think you may have the beginning stages of disordered eating. Or perhaps you’re on the journey to recovery.
Whatever has brought you here, I hope that through the story of my brokenness, and redemption through the Lord, you are able to find hope, encouragement, advice, healing, support, and comfort.

This blog chronicles my journey from severe anorexia to recovery, and every twist and turn along the way. The blog posts are meant to be read from beginning to end, as a book. (( Glorious Wounds is the Introduction.)) So I would suggest reading “up” — starting from my oldest post, and working backwards to the most recent. This is my first post.
I must warn you that the beginning is very dark — intense, raw, and despairing. It is an uncensored view into my mind when I was deep in my anorexia. However, I chose to be vulnerable and share that utter brokenness — that wreckage — in order for you to truly grasp the gravity of the disease, and how sincerely meaningful freedom through Christ has been in my life.
I also hope that you’ll find the resources section of my blog helpful. If you or a loved one is suffering with disordered eating habits, please seek professional help.
With that being said, I am not a doctor. I’m not a therapist, dietician, counselor, psychiatrist, etc. I’m just a girl. Who had a severe case of anorexia. And who is journeying through recovery, one day at a time. I’m just sharing my story with the hopes that it will help even one person.

I tried to leave a comment last night, but the combination of tired and newbie defeated me. Giving it an other try!
Back in the late seventies or early eighties at work one night someone yelled across the warehouse to a friend that the singer Karen Carpenter had just died from some disease that caused her to starve herself to death. That was how I learned my cousin had died and learned about anorexia. Many years later a family member told my mom that I must be anorexic after I lost about 30 pounds in a few months and Mom freaked out, No, I had struggled with my own addictions, but that wasn’t one of them. It was working 2 jobs and still too poor to eat more than twice a day! If I was lucky, I might add.
Thank you so much for sharing your pain and journey back to Wholeness with us and I look forward to reading more. Brightest Blessings to you and your loved ones.

Because you were so kind as to “like” one of my blog posts, we have now met. I’ve read little of your material, but tell you now I admire you greatly. Our histories are nothing alike, but all of us face challenges in life; strength and bravery are two of the attributes we must grasp in order to effectively live our lives. A common bond we do share is our faith in Jesus Christ, the righteous. My love and blessings.

Thank you for visiting and liking my own blog, 10forJesus.com . It is amazing the multitude of ways God can weave himself into different life stories. I want to add that, though it is obviously geared toward alcoholism, many people struggling with eating disorders find the book 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous helpful, and there is an offshoot called Overeaters Anonymous, too, which provides free help.

Thanks very much for writing your story to inspire and guide others. If there is anyone who like to know about mental wellness please do have a look in my site too. Yeah, I have that disorder where I just “forget to eat” when I have other pressing matters to attend to. I generally don’t eat until my body is shaky and cannot function. I’m not recommending anyone do that by any means, and it is probably what is contributing to my “pooch belly”, but I sort of know what you mean.
Keep on keeping on, dear friend.

I’m new to recovery (120 days! (four months!!!) today) and new to blogging about it, but not new to writing. It’s been interesting and really cool to experiment with the candid nature of telling my story unfiltered.
You were one of the first people to stumble upon my stuff and like it. You’re also someone who’s religious and political perspective, it seems, completely don’t align with mine; but it’s teaching me so much about loving people even if they don’t meet you where you think you need them to.
We are in recovery together, and we are in the world at the same time with the same mission–get better and live through it. I’m feeling so much love and sending it your way.
Do you have any advice for helping me grow a base of readers? Thank you for your support so far 🙂 ❤
