Buen Camino!

Greetings from El Camino de Santiago in Spain!

 

We arrived in Fatima, Portugal, made a stop in Porto, and started the Camino in Tuí, made it through Porriño, Redondela, Arcade, Pontevedra and Caldras de Reis, Spain!

It’s been an absolutely incredible time with my mom.

We’ve been walking through the Spanish country side. So many vineyards and little villages with their stone houses and red clay tile roofs. It is picturesque and timeless. The perfect backdrop to contemplate God, His plan, His incredible blessings, and to pray for those you care about.

As I mentioned before, I have every single one of your prayer requests. I couldn’t answer all the emails and messages I received, but I read ALL of them, and copied them into my book that I’m carrying in my backpack.

It’s funny how praying for people makes you feel closer to them. I think our hearts have a way of connecting at a spiritual level that we’re not even particularly aware of.

It was a tough day today because it rained the entire day. For 14 miles. Not exactly the type of day you dream about when picturing your pilgrimage, but then sometimes God throws you a curve ball to teach you about perseverance.

  3. Nice videos. I think it’s great you and your mom are there for each other. What a beautiful relationship between you two. Did you exchange info with the waiter? He surely was attracted to you…that was a lot of “free” stuff, haha.

  6. I’m happy for you having this special time with your mum. Creating special memories is important! Tomorrow I’m taking time out with my dad, we will do a river walk and have lunch together. He was diagnosed with dementia, two years ago. I will keep you and your mum in my thoughts and you might include us in your prayers tomorrow.

    Pics and vids are EXCELLENT!! Such beautiful country, and you’re picking it up so beautifully. You really have an eye for that. Your Mom’s a joy to watch! 😉 My goodness, I think I’d have a hard time keeping up. 😎

  27. Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery! I love traveling but if I can get there physically, pictures are the next best thing. I love also the mother-daughter connection – me and my mom have been besties since I was 18yo without her ever losing her role as the parental authority in my life. It’s a beautiful relationship!

  28. Congrats on your progress on the El Camino, and thank you for carrying the prayer intentions of all of us unable to physically make the journey. You wrote in your post, “I think our hearts have a way of connecting at a spiritual level that we’re not even particularly aware of.” And you are ABSOLUTELY correct! That is the beauty of the Body of Christ here on earth—we are all interconnected spiritually through prayer AND through our physical efforts and sacrifices—that’s why I (and others) will spiritually benefit from your sacrifice of walking the Camino for us, and you can spiritually benefit from our prayers for you to persevere and have the strength to walk and continue the journey on the Camino! We are all interconnected through God’s grace and love and mercy, so thank you for walking and sharing your journey!

  32. What a beautiful journey this has been. Talking about sitting back and taking God in. Gees! I can only imagine how much closer you feel with Him being right in the middle of a place like this, on a journey like this.   35. Buen camino. I have been travelling a lot and off wordpress for a while so didn’t see you were doing this. How long will it take? I would love to walk or cycle this. I love Spain! If you have a moment, please pray for my daughter who is still affected by an eating disorder. I will say a prayer for your safe journey and restful time.
