A Devastating Week for Ohio – Issue 1 Passes

It was a devastating week in Ohio as Issue 1 passed, enshrining abortion as a Constitutional right…with a tragically solid majority.

My heart is absolutely shattered, but more than that…I am angry. I am furious that the media smeared and downright lied about what Issue 1 actually says and perhaps more importantly, what it doesn’t say.

The truth about Issue 1 is that because of its purposefully evasive wording, it allows minors access to abortion without parental consent.

It also allows abortion up to birth if the mother’s mental or emotional health – rather than just physical health – is at risk.

It is just so sad to me how the media manipulated the wording of this amendment to make it appear that it said something that it didn’t. And what even more sad, is to see how many people fought to protect the “right” to kill an unborn child…and were joyful about it.

Anyway – there is so much on my heart about this, but tonight I am going to let Lila Rose, one of the leading Pro-Life voices, speak for me, because her words completely encapsulate my feelings to a T.

So please read her powerful words, and pray for this country and in innocent unborn babies now at risk.

  1. Yet no mention of the 11-year-old killed in the Cincinnati drive-by shooting. A tragedy that is greater than any possible unborn embryo

    • Thank you for the prayers, HJ. We must remain vigilant in prayer and fight for those innocent lives in the womb. So glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  2. I guess it should be obvious that anyone madly supporting the open and casual right to abortion has something really wrong with them. Consent to sex is consent to pregnancy. In very rare instances is this necessary but it is used like it’s just common sense when it isn’t

    • I fully agree: if you aren’t prepared to have a raise a child, you just shouldn’t be having sex! plain and simple as that! that’s one of the many reasons I waited until marriage! thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

    • Hi Kristie, thank you for sharing that – gosh so so sad. Lord, save us from ourselves! Hugs and love xox

  3. My heart mourns as the personal dignity of the child is truly shattered by the mentality of this vote. The CCC #2378 instructs: a child is not something owed to one, but is a gift. The “supreme gift ….“ is a human person. A child may not be considered a piece of property, an idea to which an alleged “right to a child “would lead. In this area, only the child possesses genuine rights: the right, to be the fruit of the specific act of the conjugal love of his parents,“and “the right to be respected as a person from the moment of his conception. “ When/How did the rights of the child get so lost in our society today?😞

    • Hi Dawn, it’s so great to hear from you. my heart is mourning right along with you. Amen — a child is A GIFT! It is my deepest prayer that society starts viewing a preborn child as that. It really is so sad. I think the sexual revolution and the rise of birth control, not only took the responsibility out of sex, but also made the outcome of it: aka A CHILD, something that is as disposable as the one night stand. Both sex and children were cheapened to the point of disposability with the introduction of The Pill and I personally think that was the beginning of the end. Lord, help us and save us from ourselves! So glad you stopped by. sending massive hugs! xox

  4. Sorry, but you’ve been lied to about Issue 1. Ohio law still mandates that minors have parental consent before seeking an abortion. This was not altered by Issue 1. Nor is it likely that, barring life-threatening complications to the mother, abortions would be carried out in significant numbers during the third trimester. Nobody is trying to abort infants at the moment of birth.

  5. Thank you for your brave stand, Carolyn and for being willing to be a target of criticism. It is sad to see this happen in Ohio, but not unexpected. God bless you and keep you, especially through your new exciting first year of marriage!

    • thank you Pete — it was truly a devastating week for the Buckeye state. We must stay vigilant in prayer and keep fighting for those tiny humans in the womb. Hugs and love xox

  6. These are just not facts. They’re fear of the unknown, and coming from a place intertwined with personal beliefs. It is just as upsetting to hear misinformation coming from a place of fear and love as it is from a place of manipulation.
Ohio currently requires minors to get their parents’ approval, and judges will ultimately decide if that law violates the amendment, should it pass. We speak of the dignity of the child, but completely sweep under the rug the dignity, safety, and situation of the mother. So many arguments could be made for and against.
All that said, keep standing your ground! It’s important that we uphold what’s right to us, as long as fear-mongering isn’t part of it.

  7. Heartbreaking, yet entirely predictable that such an amendment would pass. Once we think that “rights” are things humans give to themselves, rather than eternal given by The Divine, any whim can be deemed a right.

    • it really is so heartbreaking. thank you David for sharing your thoughts on this and for your support. Hugs and love xox

  8. And here I was dreaming that I was judge giving death sentences to those who purposely cut people off in traffic and think they’re too important to queue up at signal like everyone else. It’s dark, I know, I have my reasons.

I once saw a poster at one of these pro-abortion rallies where the lady claimed that the right to sue her parents for conceiving her without her permission. That is how ridiculous these arguments can go.
It is interesting how these same people will complain about the killing of an unborn calf (veil) and will turn around and say that baby in womb isn’t a thing and doesn’t have right. Yes, an unborn calf has rights to life above a human baby.
I’ve even heard the random rape scenario being thrown around as proof that abortion is a good idea. Hypothetical victims have more rights than real ones – the real babies in the womb.

    • Hi friend! thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. you’re right – the arguments on the other side simply don’t hold water. amen – all this arguing and whatnot, and those innocent babies are the ones who are paying the ultimate price. it is so sad. Lord, have mercy!! Hugs and love xox

  9. Thank you for posting and sending us to Lila’s site. I am now following this amazing woman. We are like minded! Yay, older generation woman and younger woman are like minded! This is so encouraging.

    • Hi Debbie, thank you for your support and for sharing your thoughts on this. Lila is such a warrior for the unborn: it is truly inspiring. So glad you’re following her too! I look forward to her content every day. Hugs and love xox

  10. Yes – it was sad to see that Ohio passed that law. My heart sank when I saw the news. We continue to fight and defend our children. It’s a spiritual war. We will win, even though it’s not always apparent or easy to see. Keep up the good fight posting about such important issues.

  11. There will come a time when we will create all babies in the lab and ensure that all babies will be loved and welcomed and no babies and children will ever be abused again in any way. That’s when the abortion dialogue will end and everyone will be content.
