The Specific Carbohydrate Diet has kept my Ulcerative Colitis in remission for 13 years! I was on bedrest for one whole year back in 2010, and now, thanks to this miracle therapeutic diet, I’ve been symptom and medication free for over a decade, and counting!
But the diet is tough:
NO GLUTEN
NO GRAINS
NO DAIRY
NO SOY
NO SUGAR
NO POTATOES
NO CORN
So what’s a gal to eat?!
Here are my favorite snacks! None of these are sponsored, they’re the brands that I’ve found to be SCD-legal!
- Whole fruits like oranges
- Pineapple with freshly ground raw almond butter (bonus points to add ground cinnamon)
- BARE Baked Apple Chips – the cinnamon flavor is the best. These also come in green apple and banana varieties. (And they’re on sale today!)

- Harvest Roast Pumpkin seeds — they come in multiple flavors, but sea salt is the best.

- Dry roasted pistachios! Just make sure to check the ingredient list that it’s only nuts and sea salt!

- Larabars and RX Bars are great for on-the-go! Just again, check the ingredients to make sure that they’re not the variety with chocolate chips! ((My favorite flavors are carrot cake and pecan pie Larabars, and the Vanilla almond RX bars!))

- My Banana Ice Cream is my FAVORITE snack of all time!
Ingredients:
2 bananas, cut into coins and frozen
1 cup of your frozen fruit of choice
1/2 cup cold almond milk (check ingredients for ones where the ingredients are only almonds and water.)
Blend until smooth in a food processor.

- A Banana Boat with almond butter, cinnamon, and chopped medjool dates!
- Hard boiled eggs are high in protein and great to make in batches for fast snacking!
- Bubbies Sauerkraut is so delicious and packed with probiotics.

- Lastly, another favorite: mashed avocado with sea salt, and carrot sticks or other veggie dippers!
Eating on the Specific Carb Diet doesn’t have to be hard or boring! There’s lots of deliciousness out there, you’ve just got to get creative, and plan ahead!

The Larabars and baked apple snacks sound delicious! ❤️
oh my gosh, these apple chips are downright delicious! i have contemplated investing in a dehydrator just so i can make them myself, but i don’t have the counter space! hahah Truly, a must try though! and the Larabars are spectacular! The Apple Pie flavor, the Carrot Cake — steven loves the chocolate peanut butter flavor (but I can’t have it.) And the cashew cookie is a classic but a goodie! Also – pecan pie comes in a strong third! haha (can you tell i’m a fan! hahah )
I hope you didn’t buy your snacks at Whole Foods. They are a part of Amazon and will pay for women to travel to get an abortion, as well Kroger and Pinterest and the rest of the Meta companies.
If you were ready to be as “moral” as you pretend to be you would drop all your sites on these platforms instead of just boycotting some companies. You might consider — as they say — putting your money where your MOUTH is.
P.S. I thought Mary and Mark were fictional characters from the bible.
“A moral person does what’s right regardless of what they’ve been told. A religious person does what they’ve been told regardless of what’s right.”
Need to read a Bible sometime, chum, instead of admirers of Nietzsche. One of the very rare mentions of religion there says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” Mencken had a couple of good ideas, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day, and he certainly did not keep himself “unstained from the world.” 😉

thank you for the link up! Hugs and love xox
Interesting diet! I could only wish I could drop potatoes and grains and eat the good stuff you listed. Sadly I got both pollen allergy and cross allergy to food that are related to pollen, the same spring (back in 2002) which means most fruit and nuts and beans will do the opposite on my body than on all people without the allergy.
I really hope some of all your followers have some use of your list!! I really do.
I pray tonthe lord to take away my allergy, but yet it’s here.
But I know my body and I (as you) know what I can eat to stay on the right side of life and away from the eating disorder 💜.
thank you Mia! Oh no, Im sorry about that!!! gosh that’s tough, i definitely feel for you! i hope they do too! and yes – we’ve gotta keep fueling in whatever way we can! sending big hugs and love! xoxo
