Hello from our NEW CONDO!!!

Oh my gosh, we are having so much fun. There have definitely been A LOT of snags…but that’s neither here or there when it comes to….DESSERT! And specifically, my DEATH BY CHOCOLATE!
My mom and I made this dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, and e-gads! It was the hit of the night! Everyone was asking for the recipe! And people seriously ate seconds and thirds!

Not to mention it was a gorgeous dish!
Layers of fudgy brownies, chocolatey pudding, crunchy toffee Heath bars, and light, fluffy whipped cream!

It comes together in a snap, because all you really need to do is make a boxed brownie mix, and then assemble it! (There is an option to make homemade whipped cream, instead of using Cool Whip — so that is totally up to you! I was always a “Cool Whip” girl over homemade whipped cream, but my mom is a 100% homemade kind of gal, so it’s really up to you! We ended up doing a layer of each 🙂

It was the dessert of dreams. And here’s how you make it!

Here’s What You Need: (Serves 12-16)
Ingredients
1 (19.8 ounce) package fudge brownie mix
2 (3.9 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
1 (16 ounce) package frozen whipped topping, thawed (or 4 cups fresh whipped cream)
3 (1.4 ounce) Heath bars (chocolate covered English toffee)
Directions
Step 1: Prepare brownies according to package directions. Let cool.
Step 2: Mix pudding according to package directions.
Step 3: In a glass trifle bowl, layer in the following order: 1/2 of the brownie, crumbled; 1/2 of the pudding; 1 toffee bar, crushed; 1/2 of the whipped topping.. You may also use fresh, homemade whipped cream instead of Cool Whip, if desired. (I would recommend!)

Step 4: Repeat layers in the same order. Save the last toffee bar to crumble and sprinkle on top before serving.
Step 5: Refrigerate. Best if made the day before you serve it.
All I can say is that this dish was the hit of Thanksgiving! There were “Ooh’s” and “Ahh’s!” when we brought it out! And let me tell ya — it was a dramatic reveal with all the black and white layers.

And people loved it! It was decadent and super chocolatey, while still being light, and almost airy with the whipped cream!
And all the different flavors and depths of chocolates, plus the delightful mix of textures made this dish one to remember!

And we loved that it was so fast and easy to make! If you can make a pan of box-mix brownies, then you can make this dish!
I’m telling you, your Christmas table is not complete without this! I could even see substituting the heath chocolate bar for peppermint bark, and topping it with crushed candy canes for an extra festive twist!
OK, that’s all for now!
Talk to you tomorrow!

Change all the chocolate to butterscotch and caramel, and I’m in. 😉

Hi CA! Oh my gosh! that is such a great idea! to be honest, I was always more of a “vanilla/butterscotch/caramel” kind of girl than a chocolate girl! that sounds like a delicious combo! Hugs and love xox

If I’m going to die……and I am at some point, it might as well be chocolate! Lol 🙂🙂🙂
Death by Chocolate was always a favorite at the Boy Scout potlucks during our court of honor awards ceremonies. Glad to have a recipe for myself. Thanks.
