Oh my gosh, my heart is so full right now, it feels like it could absolutely burst.
This weekend, Steven and I were showered with so much love in Ohio at our engagement party this weekend — and my ornament shower!
Saturday morning, my best friends’ mothers all threw me an ornament shower — where each person brings an ornament for Steven and my first Christmas tree!! How sweet is that! It was a beautiful tea party, and they served all delicious food that was “Caralyn-friendly” — meaning on the Specific Carb Diet! I almost cried at how thoughtful it was!!!
My besties all flew in from New York and California, and Steven’s mom and sister and niece were there, and my sisters-in-law were there with their daughters, and it was just this beautiful mother-daughter morning.
We got so many personalized ornaments of Steven and I, or of New York City, or of wedding-theme. It was so thoughtful!
And then that night, my mom and dad threw us our engagement party at their house! There were over seventy people there! We had a bunch of friends in from New York and Miami — and of course my besties from Cali and NYC — and friends from high school and middle school I hadn’t seen in years, and all my parents’ friends from church and the community and past seasons of life — it was just surreal.
It was so beautifully overwhelming to have everyone we love all in the same room, at the same time, there to celebrate…well…US!! It was humbling and amazing and just honestly the best night ever.
So much so that I literally did not take a single picture all day or night!
These photos were all sent to me by others!
But the love in that room was just absolutely amazing. My brothers gave the most heartfelt, thoughtful — and wickedly funny! — speeches about Steven and I, and how happy they are to not only welcome Steven into our family, but also how happy they are for the two of us to begin our lives together.
And all of this was so much more meaningful because we’re moving here in a week!!
It was just the most beautiful night. Steven and I had such warm and wonderful conversations with everyone there. My elementary school music teacher was there! And people that I haven’t seen in ages, but we picked up right where we left off! It was just amazing. I couldn’t have dreamed of a more special night.
And I am so grateful to all of our friends and family who took off work on Thursday and Friday to be there and flew into Ohio just for the occasion! And of course, to my wonderful parents and family who threw us the most gorgeous evening. It was a weekend we will never forget.
So now, we’re flying back to New York City tonight, and I’ve got 5 days to pack up my apartment and move back to the city!
Can you believe it!!
PLEASE pray for me that I can get it all finished in time!
And thank you for giving me grace as I navigate this hectic period of my life! It’s moving central here right now, but it won’t be forever! 🙂
