Pregnant with Covid

Hello friends.

Well, I really buried the lead with that title, didn’t I?!

Yep…I have covid. I have no idea how, but SOMEHOW I ended up with the good ol’ RONA!

I thought we left that in 2020??

Well, this certainly wasn’t my plan, but here we are.

Allow me to just touch on some potential concerns here:

First of all, this has been incredibly mild, so to speak. I tested positive for it yesterday (Wednesday) after feeling a little “off” on Tuesday night. I thought it was just a cold (congestion, body aches, low-grade fever) so I contacted my OBGYN, who advised that I test for covid. I did, and sure enough: two red lines. I was positive.

My fever yesterday was never higher than 100.3, and for most of the day, it was hovering right around 99.5 — barely a fever.

Secondly, I did not take any Tylenol.

This morning, I woke up with a temperature of 96.6…which I was more concerned about. But after eating it has been hovering around 97.7.

I have been advised not to “Google” anything, but just focus on resting, staying hydrated and keep nourishing my body as best I can. Which is what I’ve been doing.

Yesterday I made a humongous pot of vegetable soup, which I ate in one day. Had some eggs, lentil pasta and a banana with peanut butter. Lighter fare than I am used to, but it was really all I could stomach/sounded good.

So yeah — any prayers you could offer up for me and Baby Berbs, that would be greatly appreciated.

The only other wrench in the plan here, is that my husband, Steven, is leaving Sunday for NYC for work for a week. So that’s really unfortunate timing. I’m just hoping he doesn’t get sick and can still go! (We’ve been quarantining from each other ever since I tested positive).

Other than that, I’ve just been working on our baby registry and trying to muster the mental energy to do our taxes. UGH

Anywho — I guess this is my status quo for the next 10 days. womp womp

Also! One housekeeping thing: in Monday’s email preview of my post, the link to my YouTube Video wasn’t working! So here it is again, in case you missed it!

Stay healthy out there, guys! Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the Super Bowl, and I’ll see you on Monday!!

  1. Well I guess it must be going around, my niece tested positive this week also. So far she’s doing well. Sending you 🤗 and 💕. Get well soon and take care.

  2. Very sorry to hear you have covid. It is very much present around the world today and probably isn’t going to ever leave us now just like the flu and it mutates each year. But if your doctor is aware of it and you take advice from him when it starts, they can give you something that lessens the severity and now you are hosting a child you need to do that.

  3. So sorry, hope everything works out so Stephen can get away. Doug, who rarely goes out got it just before Christmas and of course generously gave it to me. It was quite mild though. Praying for you Stephen and the Bubs and sending Love. xxx

  4. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend a hepa air purifier that has a UV-C light. The light (inside the unit) kills airborne viruses and bacteria. I had the filter by my side 24/7 when I had covid, and no one in my immediate household came down with it. Here’s the one I have, from Amazon:

Praying you and the little munchkin get well soon, and that your hubby stays covid-free.

  9. Hey! I had covid too when I was pregnant last year at 24 weeks and it was mild too and baby was born absolutely fine. I would only be concerned if you had a covid after 8th month and had a fever becsuse then it could just facilitate a faster delivery before your due date. Everything is going to be fine!

  10. Praying for you all! One thing you may want to ask your doctor about is taking baby aspirin. My friend who is pregnant got COVID and her doctor put her on that to protect the cord/placenta. I think that was the only concern though.

  11. Hi Caralyn, prayers are forthcoming. I’m glad that this is a low grade fever this time. I think that Covid will be with us like the flu bug has been for a long time. Virtual hugs, take care of you two! 🙏🏻❤️

  12. Awww, Sweetie, I am praying for the three of you! As one of the last remaining humans who has never gotten Covid, I can only imagine how bad you feel! As a mom though, I know how protective you feel of your sweet baby. You have gotten some great advice. Stay nourished, hydrated, and “prayed up”. Love you, sweet Caralyn. Prayers for speedy recovery.

  13. Yes wishing you a speedy recovery! I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter when I got the flu for the first time. I was terrified…about her! By the time it was all said and done the doctor said it never was even passed to her. Not sure how they could figure that out, but that’s what they told me. It all turned out fine. God bless, and again, a speedy recovery.
