Hállo from Iceland!
I have officially fallen in love…
…With the Nordic way of life.

I’m currently in the back seat of super nice SUV rental car, listening to the Hamilton soundtrack on blast, driving for five hours in landscape that is what I imagine the surface of the moon looks like. This particular topography is literally a flat, aybyss of volcanic black sand and rubble as far as the eye can see in all directions.
We’re in the middle of a heavy downpour, and absolutely socked in with a blanket of thick fog. We can barely see 15 feet in front of us. And we’re the only car we’ve seen in the last 8-10 minutes.
One word: surreal.
And less than an hour ago, we were driving among grazing sheep in a green, mossy pasture along the coast with towering, majestic cliffs exploding out of the topography, as though we’ve reached the edge of the world.

And I thought the eclipse was impressive.
So magnificent.
But I haven’t spent my entire time in the car.
In fact, we’re on our way to take a boat ride – in the rain – to check out the icebergs and glacier.

And now all of a sudden, we turned the corner, and we’re face to face with a glacier coming down a mountain next to the road.
#PlayByPlay
Guys, I’m feeling so many emotions right now. I feel so small and… a little scared seeing this glacier face to face…is that weird?
Anyways. Yesterday, I was up for 36 hours straight. After our flight at 9pm from NYC, we arrived in Iceland at 6:55am and we went straight to the Blue Lagoon.
It’s a huge geothermal spa. And the water is so light blue because it reflects sun. It’s full of silica and minerals that are miraculous for the skin. We jumped at the chance for a natural lagoon mud mask.

Afterwards, we dropped off our stuff at the hotel and went and explored Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital.

We had a day filled with shopping, visiting the cathedral, and grocery shopping, and then went out to a nice dinner.

Afterwards, we decided to check out the nightlife.
I mean, we’re four NYC twenty-somethings. You’d better believe that we were going to check out what Iceland had to offer.
Well it didn’t disappoint. Let’s just say there was live music. There was tequila. There was dancing. And we finally collapsed back at the hotel at 3:30 in the morning..
What. A. Day.
Then our alarms went off at 7am the following morning to pick up our rental car and hit the road!
Anywho. Enough of my gabbing. Time to go have some more adventures!

See you Thursday for my BOOK LAUNCH!!!

Caralyn,
I love the last photo of you standing on a wooden platform. A kodak moment. Anywho, thank you for sharing your adventure with all of us.
Is that a pool connected to the mountain?
Sweet!
