Well, well, well. We meet again.
It’s currently Thursday afternoon. I just got back from the gym…which was absolutely delightful. I struck gold in that they were playing a Friends marathon on TBS. Oh my gosh, I was audibly laughing. Yep — I was that crazy girl laughing to herself on the treadmill. But it was a grand time. No regrets.

It’s time we have a little life update, shall we?
First of all — we hit a milestone recently, that I didn’t even realize! I was too busy prepping and editing my interview with Ben Higgins to realize that we officially surpassed over a million hits on this website! What the, what?! That’s so exciting! So thank you for your loyal readership and being such great friends. I am so grateful. Truly. With all my heart 🙂

Next: a little order of business on…my dating life. Last week, after I casually let slip that I was going on a date, I received so many encouraging comments, and tidbits of advice. Y’all are the absolute greatest.
And since then, a bunch of you lovely friends have reached out, asking me how it went!
So here’s the deal.
The short answer: he’s a great guy.
The long, complicated and potentially disastrous answer? He knows of this blog’s existence. Not the name…but that it’s out there. And he’s determined to find it.
In fact, I got a text from him last night that he’s putting his IT guy at his company on the job of finding it.
SOOOO…there’s that.
Welcome to the world of dating in 2018 where you’re only as desirable as your Google search result.
All that to say…he’s a gentleman, and that’s all I can say about that. 🙂
I dunno guys, but ever since Thanksgiving, I just feel like God has been visibly at work in my life. Like, in a blatantly obvious way. He’s not afraid to show His cards, He’s just lining things up, and all I’ve been able to do is throw my hands in the air and say, Thy will be done.

And, I know that this statement is coming right after I talked about a date I went one…which leads one to believe that I am referring to that — which I am not. But just like, everything in my life.
If you’ve seen the movie The Perfect Storm, (which, if you haven’t, take a break from the Hallmark Christmas Movies, and watch it – it’s intense. And makes my inner weather-nerd geek out). But if you’ve seen it, my life has kind of been like that recently.
Things falling into place at the perfect time. Opportunities presenting themselves, and then actually working out, with timing that could only be divinely orchestrated.
But ever since Thanksgiving, I’ve consciously and completely handed over absolutely everything in my life to God. Not that I’ve given up, but rather…surrendered. I think I finally hit a point where I was like…OK, God, clearly I am incapable of making my life work out, so here…You do it.

And I just started saying “yes” to every opportunity.
Ever since my mom’s stroke, she has adopted a new motto: “Do it, and do it NOW.”
And so, what the heck, I’ve adopted it too.
I pray. I feel like Jesus hints at somethings. And then, bam, I wake up in the morning, and without even allowing a second guess, I’ve fired off an email, or said yes to an invitation, or XYZ – you name it.
I’m just letting Jesus direct my life.

Some may call that irresponsible. I call it consecrated roulette.
And then last night….when I was recording my video for my Oh What a Beautiful Morning video series for my free newsletter, Jesus allowed this verse to be the one I chose at random: (Read: I literally flipped open to it.)
Isaiah 28:17-18
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
the Holy One of Israel:
I, the LORD, your God,
teach you what is for your good,
and lead you on the way you should go.
I mean…I see you, Jesus. I see what You did there. Game, Set, Match…point taken.
Jesus – our Redeemer. Yours and mine. Our lives were redeemed — purchased by His blood…so clearly, He has a vested interest in our lives…because He died for them.
So considering our price tag…we can fully, one hundred percent trust that He has our best interest at heart. And truly WILL teach us “what is for [our] good, and lead [us] on the way [we] should go.” I mean, you can just die for someone and then abandon or not care how the rest of the story plays out. He’s going to finish the job.
And that’s precisely what He’s been doing in my life.
The only difference is that, since Thanksgiving, I’ve been letting Him. Fully. No brakes. No parachute. No safety net. I’m just in a free fall.
And though, yes…terrifying, I’ve never felt more at peace.
So I dunno, guys. That’s kind of my motto as of late: I dunno. But I can tell ya one thing: He does.

How do you know God’s will for your life? How do you decipher His voice, or His direction in your life? I would love to know!

How self-centered/obsessed and small minded must you be to think “God has been visibly at work in my life” ?
Has God also been at work in the millions of currently starving childrens’ lives as well? Or just you and your sheltered little one?
LikeLike
Hi Amanda, I’m sorry you feel that way. There is a lot that I don’t understand in this world – and starving children and poverty definitely top the list. It is so incredibly tragic and as people who have resources, it is our job to care for those little ones and in need – just like Jesus instructs us. And if you look at His ministry, that is precisely what He did, and we are to follow His example. And to answer your question, no, I don’t think it is self centered or obsessed, because God is working in all of our lives. You could ask the question: “was God at work in my life when I was anorexic and starving and 78 pounds, on death’s door? Was He working then?” And I will tell you – God doesn’t make those bad things happen. But what He *does do, is work them together for good. And sitting here today, whole, healthy and thriving, I can honestly say that I am grateful for those lessons I had to learn the hard way. That season instilled in me my faith and trust in God. It taught my humility. It broke my pride. Strengthened my relationships. And set me on the path He has planned for my life. And none of those things were my doing. All His. So am I self centered and obsessed? Listen – I am nothing without God. I probably wouldn’t even be alive. So, thank you, for sharing your opinion. God bless you, friend.

Another great post! I love what you wrote: “I wake up in the morning, and without even allowing a second guess, I’ve fired off an email, or said yes to an invitation, or XYZ – you name it.” – Yes, friend!! So powerful, so inspiring!
I’m a weather-nerd, too. The Perfect Storm, though intense, is actually one of my favorite movies. I don’t watch it every year or anything, but if it’s on TV, I’m just drawn to it.

Wonderful post, my friend!!! Funny that you put God in control of your life, as i feel i started doing that after my near suicide attempt 7 years ago. I stopped trying to control everything and put it all in His hands. I’ve truly cherished and enjoyed every day since then. I’ve been so blessed with friends and experiences since then that i have to stop a lot and thank God for all he’s given me. Keep it up, Caralyn! You’re awesome!

In response to your last questions. I’d say God speaks a billion different ways. I moved to Indiana because of a tv show with an Indiana sign caught my attention after a talk with a friend about moving. Next I pray about it, within a minute or so I see 2 Indiana license plates (in CA) and a billboard that said “the sign you were looking for”. I do some “bible roulette” right after and land on Mark 10:28-31. Two months later I moved to Indiana. I’ve also heard “His voice” speak to me, typically like an inner voice yet not your own. His voice typically leaves me in awe. There’s also tongues and interpretations, visions/trances, scripture, the creation, other people (especially but not limited to prophets), etc. He is the Word that upholds all things so I suppose He could speak through all things if He desires haha. “My sheep hear My voice and they know Me and follow Me.”
What are ways that you hear Him???
