Savior in Chief?

Last Thursday, I was censored by Facebook. Again.

Yes, my most recent post, “Check Your Snark at the Door, Sister” — which very diplomatically expressed my light criticism towards Biden parading his “Catholic faith,” — was rejected by the powers that be over at Facebook.

Apparently, if you don’t have anything nice to say about Biden, you can’t say anything at all!

Sadly, this encroachment on my personal liberty of free speech, is nothing new. Every time I post something even remotely “pro-life” in stance, Mark Zuckerberg and his minions over at the tech mega-giant reject it. It’s happened now five different times.

But this time, it is just egregious. You read my post — 200 of you commented on it. There was absolutely nothing in it that warranted a censor!

Unless, of course, seeing a woman’s collar bones is now scandalous…

Which begs the question…what the hell is going on here?

How have we gotten to this point, where tech giants and liberal politics are now in bed together? And what does that mean for the future of this country? I don’t know about you, but my mind can imagine some downright terrifying scenarios, which…unfortunately, I doubt are strictly out of the realm of possibility, all things considered.

As though censoring my article examining Biden’s faith was enough, today, the Internet decided to pour salt in my wound.

Because what comes across my desk, but The New York Time’s headline story for today:

Twist the knife, why don’t you!

In case you didn’t catch that, allow me to repeat: the headline cites Biden as “the most religiously observant commander in chief” and that “his Catholic faith grounds his life and his policies.”

I literally laughed out loud when I read that.

Are you kidding me? His Catholic faith grounds his policies?

I’m not going to sit here and judge the man’s life, that is between him and God. And like him, I too, have a lot that I will need to answer for, when I reach the Pearly Gates.

But I can comment on his policies.

They are anti-Catholic. But you know where I’m going with that. You heard me vent about that in last Thursday’s censored article.

But what I want to pause and focus on tonight, is the terrifying slight of hand that the NY Times is expertly executing in this article. So seamlessly, that you may not have even noticed it.

The Ascendant “Liberal Christianity.”

Liberal Christianity.

Headed by, none other than our Savior in Chief: “Catholic” Joe Biden.

Quoting from the article: “And with Mr. Biden, a different, more liberal Christianity is ascendant: less focused on sexual politics and more on combating poverty, climate change and racial inequality.

Do you see what they’re doing? They’re splitting the Church in two.

The Church, arguably the only organization left that has the means and influence to threaten the power of the woke, liberal left. They’re trying to undercut it and divide it in two, by creating the narrative that this “new liberal Christianity,” headed by the sound-of-mind and inclusive Joe Biden, is the future of the faith.

Joe Biden’s “Liberal Christianity” is full of love and inclusivity — not focused on “sexual politics” (aka, protecting the unborn, defining marriage and gender on biblical and scientific principles) — but rather, combating poverty, climate change and racial inequality.

They’re trying to redefine what it means to be a Christian. Belong to the “old, unwoke” Christianity, and you’re just a cotton headed ninny muggins with their head buried in the sand, concerned with “sexual politics.” OK Boomer — why don’t you go answer your rotatry phone…I bet it’s another closeminded homophobe calling.

No. The new liberal Christianity has evolved. It’s higher thinking. It’s woke.

First of all, news flash: Christianity has always been concerned with combatting poverty and seeking racial equality. Have they never heard of social justice?? That movement is flourishing in the Church, and is the foundation of Christian thought and the Christian walk. Hello, Mother Teresa!?

And secondly: the Bible is unchanging. Thou shall not kill…last I checked, still stands. Love your neighbor…yep, still in effect.

But here’s the real kicker.

Again, watch for the slight of hand….quoting from the article: “Mr. Biden’s policy priorities reflect those of Pope Francis, who has sought to turn the church’s [sic] attention from sexual politics to issues like environmental protection, poverty and migration.

Did you see that? They’re trying to align Joe Biden and Pope Francis as the new “woke Catholic” sect that’s here to “rebrand” this whole Catholics-are-stuck-on-pro-life-garbage image. They’re trying to instill doubt and lure those wavering away from the sound dogma and teachings of the Church.

The fact is, Catholics, as it stands, are rather divided over the issue of abortion. Those who ardently adhere to the faith are staunchly against abortion, and are prolife. But those who are Catholic in name only tend to pick and choose which of the biblical and Church teachings they’re going to adopt, and pro-life views are often not on that list.

So what the NY Times is expertly doing here, is luring that crowd to the “dark side.” Oh look, you see? Biden AND the Pope are woke. They’ve turned away from pro-life policies. YOU SHOULD TOO.

Ah, the power of suggestion. Manipulation at its finest.

Turns out, though, that when it comes to Pope Francis, they’re absolutely wrong.

And this is the last thing.

I know, everyone and their brother has an opinion about Pope Francis. The media love him – because he will say things just vaguely enough, that the liberal media can take his soundbites and twist them to make it look like he’s abandoning traditional Catholic teachings, and is a radical force to be reckoned with.

Which, is not all wrong.

But when it comes to abortion, Pope Francis could not be more clear: abortion is wrong, and the Catholic faith is pro-life through and through.

Quoting Pope Francis in an audience he had with US bishops from January 2020, “protecting human life is the preeminent social and political issue.”

He could not have been more clear: “It is the most fundamental right. This is not first a religious issue; it’s a human rights issue.”

I will end with a powerful quote from Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, who released this statement just a few days ago on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, after President Biden and VP Harris celebrated the decision as an advancement of women’s rights and health:

“It is deeply disturbing and tragic that any President would praise and commit to codifying a Supreme Court ruling that denies unborn children their most basic human and civil right, the right to life, under the euphemistic disguise of a health service. I take this opportunity to remind all Catholics that the Catechism states, ‘Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.’ Public officials are responsible for not only their personal beliefs, but also the effects of their public actions. Roe’s elevation of abortion to the status of a protected right and its elimination of state restrictions paved the way for the violent deaths of more than 62 million innocent unborn children and for countless women who experience the heartache of loss, abandonment, and violence. We strongly urge the President to reject abortion and promote life-affirming aid to women and communities in need.”

Game. Set. Match.

“This is what the Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” Ez 37:5

  1. Dear Caralyn 🙂

You prolly remember my last comment on your previous post — right?

Did you get that whether it’s FB, NYT, G, whatever (yes, again, just to emphasize the point: also Patreon) — this is all the same game. None of these companies are nice. They’re not good. They have only one bottom line: Profit. If this weren’t what motivates their decisions, the stockholders could, should and would revolt. The algorithic nature of this machinery is quite far-reaching.

The machine is not human. In the case of FB, it’s much larger than the so-called “Oversight Board” (which is essentially little more a bogus PR front).

If you want to talk about this one-to-one, I would gladly call you up /note that even though the G company has made significant advances in building out its own telephone machinery surveillance systems, voice recognition remains a very difficult nut to crack 😉 ) — just msg me with your # (and best availablity times) and I will reach out to you. If you prefer it the other way around, you can reach me ca. 07:00 – 22:00 GMT @ +4915786836137 (I’m not afraid of spam, because that number is quite expensive to call 😉 ).

There are alternatives. I can explain these. The main issue is that most people are so completely brainwashed, that when I begin to explain them their brains go into a sort of “freak out” mode and therefore shut down without being able to understand how this stuff works. It’s quite similar to the situation in the movie you mentioned a while back (“The Social Dilemma”) — which, by the way, is also a prop a ganda msg brought to you by the G company (remember my review of it @ connect.data.blog/2020/09/16/herding-millennials-a-new-agenda-for-tech ? 😉 ).

I am ready, willing and able to help.

It reminds me of what the bible says, these people have a form of Godliness but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5) Jesus would flat out call them hypocrites and I’m pretty sure his blood would be at boiling point with all this hypocrisy, mine certainly is! Thank you for the post. God bless you and rejoice if they are censoring you…. it simply means you are speaking the truth!

  3. Wow, I can’t believe Facebook has actually been censoring you! This is why nobody I know uses Facebook anymore. One of my friends actually had her account blocked on Twitter because she criticized our governor (California is a hot mess right now). You’re right to ask this question: “How have we gotten to this point, where tech giants and liberal politics are now in bed together?”

It’s honestly so sad how politically charged and divisive our nation is right now. And the media (tech giants and all) are making it worse. I’m glad you have a platform like this blog to share your thoughts without censorship.

  4. HI there, first I’d like to say that I’m sorry that Facebook is still flagging you when they should be a place for free discussion of the most difficult issues that we face as a society of mixed opinions and faiths. I also think the work you do is very important in helping young women see a way forward and a positive life after eating disorders. We may not agree on everything in our faith but we should find ways to move forward positively. I did have one question about the pro-life stance – do you also oppose the death penalty? I couldn’t find a way to search your blog to find out.
OR if any of your readers knows just comment below.
    Thanks,

In terms of the death penalty, no I do not believe in the death penalty. I don’t think it is up to us to determine whether a person lives or dies, regardless of their crime. That is up to God. 5. I agree ith you on your stance against abortion. Abortion is anathema to God. Anyone that wants to be anything in the Democrat party must support abortion. Anyone that votes for any Democrat, IMHO, is just as guilty as the doctor with the drill and vacuum. You can’t kill babies all week and sing praises to Jesus on Sunday. It doesn’t wok that way.

Abortion has become the litmus test of the Democrat party. If you don’t support abortion, you are not welcome there-in. The group “Democrats for Life” is a schill group designed to deflect that argument, but in the end, by their silence lend their support. Remember, this is not a group designed to inflict ill on the abortion industry but merely deceive the public.

The Catholic Church, in giving Biden the sacraments 2days before his coronation, became participants in this sin of murder. Liberal Christianity is only liberal, it certainly isn’t Christian.

    God bless you.

  6. I am both nervous and expectant of what is to come…because today, it’s Facebook censoring a blogger. But what happens when they start censoring things a church account posts? Including sermons, which currently our church live streams one service on Sunday morning through Facebook. I have gone back through the last few months of my Facebook posts, and there are a few that are blank now. I honestly don’t even remember what it was I had posted, so I don’t know what was removed (if it was something I shared, maybe the original poster got censored?).

I do fear how this will divide the church even more…those who are “woke” on one side in order to be accepted in this world, and those who are sticking to the truth of the Bible, without adding a “yeah, but…” to it. Keep posting the truth, girl.

    1. Hi Ellen, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! I agree – censorship is a terrifying notion. We saw in the election this happen when the Washington Post published the breaking news about Hunter Biden’s computer — it was censored and SHUT DOWN – Twitter even suspended their account. And then only AFTER Biden won, did the SAME news about Hunter Biden finally come out. The censorship is coming from an agenda’d place, and it is really scary the power that it has. I dare say, that censored information completely changed the outcome of the election. Wild. Just wild. And scary. And I agree – a house divided cannot stand, and I pray that the Christian community can persevere the persecution, truly, that’s what it is, or unfortunately will become. I hope and pray not, but we are going to see. And yes! the “yeah, but’s” have got to exit our vocabulary! hahah Thank you for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

  7. I’m truly sorry this occurred, yet I’m very encouraged that it did. You stated some extremely uncomfortable truths. Those on the other side of your argument do not believe anyone else has a right of opinion contrary to theirs. True discourse is gone. Yet, in all things, God’s plan will move forward. There is an old, but decidedly non-Christian quote: “The wheels of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.” Things will get more difficult for the near future. While it’s a struggle to not worry sometimes, the good thing is I have read the end of the story! Blessings!

  10. The current political scene is abhorrent…bad for our liberties and bad for the moral future of America (what are they going to teach the children?). Something that is good for all of us to be aware of is the Smith–Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, which legalizes propaganda on American soil. Once we realize that “journalists” are not required to tell the truth and, quite frankly, can twist stories however they like, we can learn to take everything with a grain of salt. Similarly, though the protection of free speech is limited to government entities, with the big tech monopolies banning people from platforms and services willy-nilly, do we really have free speech? I’m truly fearful of where we are headed. Keep speaking up… between the wokeness folks, big tech and fake Christians, there are a lot of people who want us to keep quiet and push their own agenda.

It appears that many have forgotten our history. Listening to others thoughts and improving upon them leads to better ideas. “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22. There is much to be gained in dissenting views.

  14. I get it: people vote based on their religious beliefs. Some people – as I’ve learned through commenting on your blog – strictly so, which I have a legitimate problem with. “With which I have a legitimate problem with”, for any Grammar Nazis out there…and that’s the only time I’ll make a Nazi reference here.
Because, my problem here isn’t with people who vote their dogma – er, conscience. People are going to be influenced and react how they will, whether they are aware of that influence or not.
No, my issue here is that some seem to expect laws in this country built on a foundation of religious freedom to reflect not just their religious beliefs, but to enforce them on others who may not share that religious view.
To split a hair, if you believe that life begins at fertilization, great. But legally, there’s a 12 week definition of when an embryo becomes a human being and 20 week threshold to cross before showing clear signs of being a person. Before 12 weeks, this life is basically a parasite. Or, y’know…a salad.
If you’re hell bent on living in a society that follows a religious doctrine as law, this ain’t it, Heaven’s Patriot. Might I suggest Vatican City or maybe Mauritania? I’m pretty sure you would not enjoy living in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan or any of the other less scientifically and equality evolved countries in the world that are escaping my recollect.
My point goes back to your post about tolerance and unity, specifically, behavioral tolerance. If we’re all going to live together in even a tenuous peace, we have got to unlearn this “my way or the highway” mentality we’ve been whipped into over the last 5-40 years, depending on your timeline.
Personally, I’ve watched this coming down the pike for 40+ years since seeing the GOP get on top of the Religious Right – although in a dark room so only God could see – back in the early 80s. Since then, it’s been a slow, hypocritical march toward where we are today: voting for a completely unqualified and reprehensible human to lead us simply because he pushed a button we might approve of, setting all other disqualifiers aside in spite of our best interests and voting based on a book.
We’ve got to be better – and I mean “smarter” – than that. The president has to lead all Americans in their pursuit of life & liberty. Hopefully, that results in a baseline of happiness for citizens, but if not…that might not be the president’s fault so much as the individual’s ability to handle not always getting their way. (Again, another reason Trump was so ill suited to the presidency, he’s still throwing a tantrum about losing and refusing to see his loss as anything but the result of a rigged election, despite proof to the contrary and legal rulings on the matter)
We can all live together. It just takes an effort. For some, that might mean following their religious path without insisting everyone else walk the same one.

    1. Dear galby68,
As a medical technologist there were times I was assigned to sort and file “products of abortion.” Putting a baby’s tiny body even of a 10 week old child, in a jar of formaldehyde or assembling parts from a D&C to make sure the doctor “got it all”, I knew what I was handling.
It was not a parasite but the remains of a human being.
It astounds me that scientists can get all excited about finding “life” on another planet if they ever find a single living cell (which they have not yet), but a collection of millions of cells with a brain and response to stimuli is only a “parasite.” So sad.

      1. I shouldn’t have put that word out there…forgot my audience. Of course you jump on that and miss the broader point of 330 million people living together on a single piece of land.
        Onward, Christian soldier.
FWIW, I put myself through college working nights in a hospital OR. I’ve handled a Tijuana Taxi, myself. But I’m sure your vivid imagery will provoke the desired horror and reactive response from other readers…

        Like

      2. Hi, again, galby. My intention is not to provoke horror or reactive responses. The images of “fetuses” in utero speak for themselves.
The problems of overpopulation, if you will recall from your college history and literature classes, was what promoted migration to the New World in the 1700s and served as part of the basis of The Christmas Carol, as many in England did not believe they could sustain much more growth beyond the 29 million already there. There are now 68,000,000 China’s current population is around 1.5 billion. with a difference in land mass from the US less than 5%.
The P-Bomb was popular when I was younger with horror stories of overpopulation, none of which have panned out.
Where ever you are located, unless you are urban-bound, there is a lot of land around us that can both sustain a larger population and housing.
More importantly, the racial disparity in abortions is abysmal with five times as many black babies being aborted as white ones. Again, this is sad.
This reply is not in anger or to incite anger. We who follow Jesus are commanded, not suggested, to love those who disagree with us. That does not mean we simply bow to what those who oppose us want, but we are required to read, understand and share information as we understand it.

    2. Hi Galby, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I think that your perception of people only voting on their “strictly religious beliefs” is that, for many people, myself included, religion isn’t just a sometimes, convenience, wishy-washy thing, but actually a way of life. Something they’ve committed their lives to, and built their lives upon, making sacrifices and life choices in line with those beliefs along the way. So yes, though it may look like a person is just “voting their strict dogma,” the fact is, they’re voting that way because it MATTERS to that person. It matters A LOT.

And to touch on your words about abortion, I respect your belief about the 12 weeks, but I respectfully disagree. Wholeheartedly. I believe that life begins at conception. It is at that moment that a woman becomes a mother. It is at that moment that the embryo becomes a human being, with separate DNA than the mother’s, a separate body from the mother, and separate, protected rights — the right to life. The right to live.
I understand that we may never agree on this, but I do invite you to watch the movie, “Unplanned,” and I’d love to have a conversation with you about it afterwards. Hugs and love xox

Believe it or not, I’m pretty sure I have Unplanned in a watchlist on one streamer or another, because it sure sounds familiar.
And seriously, I hope my point about the president leading an entire nation, not just the American Christians hit home. While other leaders might have said stronger words or passed on more liberal justices in seeming deference to their religious base, I think – especially in Trump’s case – that they were just winking at their constituency. I think with Biden, we may not all get exactly what we want, but I think he will at least be coming from a position of trying to serve all, even if it’s imperfectly so. 😊

  15. It is unfortunate as I mentioned in response to an earlier blog of yours, I do not believe we are ever going back to “normal” as we knew it before the pandemic. The left is using the pandemic to further infringe on citizen’s rights, as will be seen in restricting travel, to the point that law enforcement will be responsible for arresting violators. And you will not be able to complain on Twitter, Facebook or other social media because conservative voices are being silenced.

Ben Franklin said, “Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.” It has begun.

I believe the Christ-follower’s focus must move away from politics to evangelism, as the principles enshrined in our Constitution are Biblical-based. Only a people committed to Jesus can really experience the liberty we have enjoyed. Ever since the 1920s our prosperity began to be worshiped more than God. Then with FDR, when people began to give away their liberty to get out of the Depression, we have moved consistently away from the founding principles.
It is now a short slide now to full government control over details of our lives that would have been unthinkable before 1960.
Join the Jesus Revolution and live as if He is King . . . because He IS! 🙂
Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:20)

And unfortunately, yes – we’ve allowed a new level of infringement on our personal liberties to become “normal.” That’s going to hard to back pedal from. Amen – a Jesus Revolution. i like that. With Pope Francis supporting Chrislam I believe this as this could be the beginning of the One World Religion. Do you think Biden could be the Antichrist as he could “save” America from COVID-19, though it’s said they manufactured it?

  23. A lot of thoughts on this. I do tend to be on the more “liberal” side.

I think an issue we’re dealing with is that a lot of people like to divide things by liberal and conservative, even in religious circles. That includes both individuals and media. But especially in Catholicism, those binary labels for a church that well outdates those political labels is rather limiting. Some positions of the church, such as environmental stewardship, are “liberal” and would look more Bidenesque. Other policies are “conservative” and would not favor him.

I actually think there are VERY few (if any) Catholic politicians in the US who are 100 percent in line with church teachings. When we realize that, I think it serves as a reality check that the church is neither conservative nor liberal…it just is.

As for Biden, from what I hear he actually is a pretty faithful church attender. But that doesn’t mean he or anyone is the savior of anything (except Jesus). Nor do I see him as anti-Church. He, like most Catholics, falls somewhere in the middle I think–someone who has a deep faith from what I can tell, but not necessarily a faith that 100 percent goes along with church teachings (which can be said for a lot of people).

  24. Keep preaching! When I was teaching Sunday school in the old Video College of Biblical Knowledge days, I had an old R. C. Sproul video playing. He said something along the lines of “Liberal Christian… Wait a minute. That is not an oxymoron. In my view, it is an impossibility.” I was shocked that he would make such a bold statement; I had to rewind and play that part again. I kinda, sorta, agree with him, but there may be some Liberal Christians that are so ill-informed about the Bible, they do not know they are being swayed by secular untruth as it filters into the different denominations, as you said, by Christians in name only. We need to be grounded in biblical truth and you do a great job of expressing it.

I do have hope though that the “liberal Christians” are a minority still in this country compared to the rest of us who know the truth and seek to uphold it. It is also my hope that the sinful agenda and corruption will be uncovered soon and Biden’s support will greatly decrease. An impeachment is a tad too ambitious of me to hope for at the present time, especially with him pulling so much support from the media who can make a pile of poop look shiny if it feeds their agenda lol

  31. I said at the beginning of the Trump administration that nothing material would change related to abortion during his term, and it hasn’t. It’s still as legal as it was before, and I don’t think that’s going to change during the Biden administration either for one reason and one reason only – the American public hasn’t changed. Politicians cater to what people want or think they want, and I’m firmly convinced that the American public as a whole doesn’t know what it really wants. I think that’s what’s really behind a lot of the turmoil we’re seeing. People are grasping at and fighting over some of the superficial things they think they want in the short term, but as long as they keep doing that, the long term problems are going to stick around.

I consider myself pretty pragmatic, but I’m more a long-term planning kind of person than most because that’s what pays off in the end. I’m Catholic, too, and my church didn’t just stage protests when an abortion clinic moved into a nearby strip mall. I mean, people from the church did that, too, but we can go a lot further than that. We put our money where our mouth is. We took up collections and rented the office next door to theirs and set up a rival service. It offers medical assistance to pregnant women plus free infant supplies, housing, employment assistance and training, and adoption through Catholic Social Services if they decide not to keep the baby. Our services are either free or low cost because we fund them ourselves through the church, which puts us ahead of any for-profit business and it’s designed to cater to people who don’t really want an abortion but just feel so desperate that they feel like there’s no other choice. Our service gives them some real choices. We haven’t eliminated the competition, but we’ve cut into it with what we have to offer. I suppose we could buy the whole building eventually and kick them out, but then, they’d move somewhere else, and we’d have to start the process all over again. As it stands, they bring people to our door who didn’t even know we were there or had something to offer them. We can poach their customers as they come, and we can keep doing this indefinitely because we have the advantage of numbers to keep this service funded and supplied. Yes, it’s a social service, and it’s also the competition that comes with capitalism. The business that best answers the clients’ needs succeeds. That’s actually what I’d like to see the government do on a larger scale – offer a real choice, set up viable alternatives, and plan for the long term.

So, that’s why I’m not worried about Biden or little things like face masks. Heck, people wore face masks for the 1918/1919 Influenza Pandemic, too, and then that ended, and it was Roaring 20s. It didn’t last because the situation changed. They didn’t give up all of their freedoms forever, and we haven’t either. This is just a short-term, pain-in-the-neck thing that really could be managed better to make it even shorter. I’m not impressed. As for the longer-term things, some of us have already made our plans, and they’ve been operating for years. It’s a matter of knowing what’s really important and being willing to do what’s necessary to make it happen.

During the 1920s, one of my great-great- aunts actually ran a speakeasy out of her house. I think it was in her basement or something. Rumor had it that she got away with it because she had a policy of always giving free drinks to “men in uniform.” (Cops also wear uniforms. Wink, wink.) I’m a non-drinker myself, but I think I’d like a secret room in my house just because that would be awesome. I don’t have a real purpose for one, I just think it would be a cool thing to have.

  35. Interesting take I’m declared a liberal Democrat by most on the opposite side of the fence and we’d probably have to agree to disagree on more than one issue but Facebook often censors me as well. So if their censoring you and their censoring me, then who isn’t being censored. I’ve reported hate speech, threats of violence and even people making thinly veiled death threats or going as to tell me in detail how they want to see me or people like me die, only to receive the condescending message from facebook that what that person or group shared/said was ok and I should just ignore it or block them. So whether Facebook is condoning attacks on moderate conservatives by those on the far left or condoning and/or censoring them, and their condoning attacks and also censoring those on the moderate left. Then it stands to reason that Facebook is catering to the extremists on both sides and perhaps the wise thing to do should be for all of us to leave Facebook as its seemingly only pitting us against each other to serve it’s own agenda.
