Hello from…WISCONSIN!
Yes! My fiancé and I are in Wisconsin with my family, eeking out the last little bit of summer!

The nice thing about working from home is that Steven and I can do it from anywhere!
So we’re on the lake, hanging with my nephews and our family! And we are having a blast. But boy, it is chilly up here! Highs in only the low 50’s!
But the cold isn’t stopping us from having a great time! We’re bundling up in ski gear and going out on the boat!

Yesterday was a blast too – we went to a local farm, and took a tractor ride through the corn fields to their pumpkin patch, where we got to pick pumpkins straight off the vine!

Talk about pumpkin picking at its most authentic.
But I’ve gotta tell ya – taking this tractor ride through the tall corn fields, with the big sky behind us and crisp fall air, it was almost surreal. This was about as opposite as you can get from New York City, and we loved every minute.
The little boys were mesmerized by the tractor and the pristine nature all around us.

We all were commenting that this was an experience we’d remember for a long time.
One thing that I really appreciated about visiting the farm was how you could see where our food came from. We were riding in the tractor past tomatoes, and peppers and squash, and watermelon, and garlic. And it was powerful to remember that food actually comes from the ground, and not a plastic carton at the grocery store.
But the best part of this weekend is just being together with family. I think it’s so important to just get away and unplug from technology and be present with the people you love. Though we do have a TV up here, we haven’t turned it on once, and instead have relied on the old school record turn table that my parents just got. Beatles anyone?

So if you need me, you’ll have to come search for me in the cornfield!
And until then, have a great night and I’ll see you on Wednesday with a PHENOMENAL recipe!

A beautiful post thank you so much Caralyn you so beautiful
Oh, I relate to that wonderful experience of sharing time with family! Did you see any of my family time blogs that I posted while we were in Switzerland, Caralyn? I know you have an enormous following and not enough time to follow each one back … but I think with your vacation time with family, you’d enjoy my very different scenes, but similar sentiments. I love that family group in the middle of the field. You & your sis look so much alike I thought she was you for a minute before I enlarged it! Precious days! Enjoy!!!
Lovely photos, guys! Stop on down to Vegas, we have mid to high 90s all week!
What a wonderful way to spend time with your fiance and family! Fall and all things pumpkin is so much fun. Glad you could get away from the hectic city and slow down! Enjoy the afterglow of your trip! Hugs and love! xoxo
Find a corn maze while you’re there! So much fun! We went pumpkin shopping over the weekend, got some of those neat “warty” ones. Love all the new and heirloom varieties. Have a wonderful visit in the heartland! 🧡
Yes, it’s been cool here! Apples are ripe so orchard picking is another idea if you guys need more things to do. 🙂 Enjoy the family time! ♥️
I was blessed to grow up on a farm in a small town in Michigan. Someday, as soon as I can, I will move again to a farm. Nothing like fresh air and honest earth. Beautiful. Thanks for the reminder. Love you. Hugs!XO😃❤️
“And we are having a blast. But boy…”
I was scrolling through this kind of fast, and I misread that as “And we are having a boy…” I’m like, WAIT, what did I miss?!? 😮
The closeness of your family shines through here 🙂
Fabulous photos! The midwest in all it’s Autumn glory is stunning.
Thank you so much Janet! My brother took those on his Iphone!!! can you believe it!?!? Hugs and love xox
I’m glad you enjoyed your trip.
Oh, when I was on the farm, I didn’t want to leave. It was so nice to get fresh off the fine produce. I’m sure it was fun.
