Oh, Dole Whip.

If you’ve never experienced this iconic Disneyland delicacy, book a flight, because it is legendary.
Frozen, fluffy, pineapple “whip” that is perfectly sweet and refreshing – like ice cream!
And tonight, we’re going to recreate it!

Only with a twist! We’re going to make STRAWBERRY Dole Whip! AKA, sweet pineapple ice cream with a kiss of strawberry, to make it pink!
And it is DE-LICIOUS!

And not only delicious…but HEALTHY TOO!!
It’s made from frozen fruit!
So it’s vegan, Specific Carb Diet friendly, and Gluten free!
I make this several times per week. It is just so yummy!

Here’s What You Need: (Serves 1)
2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
1 frozen banana, cut into coins and then freeze (SCD, make sure it has lots of brown spots)
4 frozen strawberries
1/3 ice cold nut milk, (I love cashew milk, and THIS BRAND is SCD friendly) – or ICE COLD water
1 squeeze of liquid stevia or honey
Tools:
Food processor or Vitamix
Directions:
This could not be easier.
Peel and slice two very ripe bananas into coins and place in a ziptop bag. Freeze until solid, at least 4 hours. Preferably overnight. (PRO TIP: I buy bananas in bulk, let them get extra ripe and covered in brown spots, and then slice & freeze a bunch of them in individual baggies. That way, they’re ready to go when I want to make smoothies or nice cream!)
Throw all of your frozen fruit into the food processor and process until it forms a bunch of little pebbles. Then, scrape down the sides and add your liquid. Continue processing until it’s formed a beautiful, fluffy frozen soft-serve-like consistency. (You may need to scrape the sides an additional time or two. Finally, add your stevia or honey at the end and then blend until just incorporated.
Serve immediately.
Fun toppings include: a cocktail umbrella, sprinkles, granola, chocolate chips, cinnamon, berries or other sliced fruit, a glob of Nutella, shaved coconut, chopped nuts, a drizzle of chocolate or honey. Or my personal favorite: a glob of freshly ground almond butter!
OK – if you follow my Pinterest, then you know that I make this A LOT. And for good reason: it is phenomenal!

I have a wicked sweet tooth, and this is my go-to dessert!

Because it’s super fast and easy to whip up. (I mean, hello – you can throw your entire food processor in the dish washer.) It’s incredibly healthy and a delicious shot of vitamin C, which, especially in the winter is super important for immune system support.
It’s fun to eat, tastes amazing, is full of fiber and potassium. And to be honest, it just makes me happy.
I mean look at that consistency! It’s like soft-serve ice cream! It’s melt-in-your mouth, creamy, refreshing deliciousness!

It will become your favorite thing, just like it has for me. I promise.
There’s a reason why I always have ziplock bags of frozen fruit in my freezer! 🙂
And one final pro-tip! Frozen pineapple is expensive. Why? Becuase of the labor that goes into cutting up a pineapple. I always but the whole pineapple myself, and then when it’s ripe (smell the end, and if it smells like sweet pineapple, it’s ripe and ready to be cut up), I will cut it into small, blender-friendly pieces to freeze myself. You get a lot more pineapple for a lot less money!

Do yourself a favor, and make this Dole Whip!
You’ll be amazed at how whippy a pineapple can be!

DISNEYLAND????? Dearest, my primary experience with Dole Whip is at the Dole Plantation on O’ahu. Anything else (including the hole-in-the-wall shop in Lahania, Maui) just isn’t right! That said, I think we have some pineapple chunks in the freezer so with those, plus the bananas I’ll probably get at Costco, I’ll give your recipe a try …
Or really!!! Interesting! Looks like I need to go to Hawaii!! Haha thanks so much for sharing that! Hugs and love xox
Wow, yes please! I think you should have your own sweets and cooking business, Caralyn! ❤️😋
Haha thanks so much John! You’re kind to say that! Hugs and love xox
I haven’t made “nice cream” in ages because my cat chewed up my Vitamix. I really want to get a food processor so I can make this treat more often. I haven’t used frozen pineapple in mine and will try that next time! I have yet to try the iconic dole whip and like that your recipe is healthy. I’m hoping to cut back on the amount of junk food that makes its way into my house.
Oh my gosh noooo! Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. Yes – definitely worth getting a food processor – I use mine literally every day!! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love xox

Fortunately we don’t have to wear masks anymore so I think I could deal with that in a hurry 🙂
