Hey friends and happy Wednesday!
Today’s recipe is a bit more of a tutorial than a recipe!
Over the weekend, I made myself a salad with an avocado rose on top, and the people I were eating with thought it was the coolest thing and wanted to know how to do it!

SO…I decided to take today to share exactly how to make a restaurant quality avocado rose!

I always say, “You eat with your eyes first” – and a decorative plating style really makes the food taste better! I don’t know how it works, but if you’ve got a beautiful plating, the food somehow magically just tastes more exquisite!
So without further ado — here’s how to make an avocado rose! (And I’ve included the video on top – sometimes a picture’s worth a thousand words!)

Here’s What You Need: (Makes 2 roses)
1 ripe and room temperature avocado
Red pepper flakes
Sea salt
Tools:
Sharp knife
Clean hands
Spoon
Directions:
Carefully cut your avocado in half and remove the pit.

With a spoon, scoop out one half of the avocado in its entirety.
Flip it over so it is cut-side down.

With a sharp knife, make lots of thin vertical cuts along the entire avocado, about 1/4-1/8 inch thick (the thinner the better).

Using your hands, fan out the cuts into a long snake.

Your hands will get a little messy…that’s okay.

Then curl it in on itself, forming a rose. (This is why you want the avocado to be super ripe, and room temperature. A cold avocado, even if ripe, isn’t malleable.

Top with crush red pepper flakes and sea salt!
Tip: make the rose right before serving for best presentation.
•If you need to make ahead, squeeze lemon juice overtop to prevent browning and store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 hours.
The is great for:
1. Avocado toast
2. Salads
3. On top of fish
4. With tortilla chips

This rose really elevates the “fanciness” or “wow-factor” of a dish. I mean, let’s be honest…avocado in any form is absolutely delicious, this just takes it over the top!
And it’s so easy! Once you do it once, you’ve got it down pat!

So there you have it! I hope you enjoy making some delicious and gorgeous creations with this new skill!
