My Story – Video!

Well friends, it’s here!

I am thrilled to share with you my talks from this past weekend, where I spoke at Christ the King Church in Memphis!

Sunday’s Talk for the church!

I gave two different talks on two different days. Both with Q & A Sessions afterwards.

Saturday’s Talk for the Youth Group and Outreach Ministers!

If I were to recommend ONE that you watch, it would hands down be the talk from the second day, Sunday. That talk was my personal story. It really “went there” and got into the weeds.

The other talk is more informative. Yes, it includes my story, but it is an in-depth look at eating disorders, the warning signs, how to help, what not to say, etc. I’m not going to say it’s “clinical” per se, but it is definitely a valuable source of information for loved ones and care givers.

The one from Sunday, is the one that is truly about me – I cried, I break down the walls – it is what I am most excited to share with you 🙂

So – there you go!

Thank you again for all of the love, support and encouragement you’ve graciously shown these last several weeks as I’ve prepared for this huge next step in the evolution of BeautyBeyondBones.

I am honored and truly grateful to have such wonderful friends like you. 🙂

So with that, please enjoy my video! CLICK HERE — (Or watch in the box below!) ((NOTE: Saturday’s Talk will be available on Monday!))

Lastly, a huge THANK YOU to Christ the King Church for having me. For the Youth Group and Steven Ministers for sponsoring the event. And of course, my friend and fellow blogger, Jeff King, for throwing my hat into the ring and making this possible! 🙂 Check out his blog – he rocks!

A big thank you to my foundational sponsor, BetterHelp Online Therapy. I cannot begin to express how beneficial therapy was for my recovery from anorexia.  Speak with an online therapist. Or check out content about eating disorders from BetterHelp.

    • Thank you so much Jenny! So glad this resonated with you!! I appreciate you watching! Hugs and love xox

    • Oh my gosh thank you so much my dear friend 🙂 I appreciate you watching! Hugs and love xox

  1. Hey! Thanks for stopping by Daily Ramblings today. I really appreciate it. Looks like things are going well for you. Great work on the book and the talks at the church in Memphis. Onward and upward!!

  2. Caralyn! I just got home a short while ago, so I have not been ignoring your email! I understand completely…no worries. Your concern is appreciated! Maybe just as well; I started to choke up a bit at one point. You might recall I have that darned emotional streak since heart surgery.

Hillary just told me that she watched your Sunday morning speech and thought it was so much better than your already great Saturday talk! I’d have to agree. I was so moved listening to you thunder away against Satan and the demon that had haunted your anorexia! “I…LIED!!”

I looked at tonight’s comments so far; look at the love and support! No reason to be ashamed of your past or worry about what people think.

I emailed John about getting you a digital copy you can work with but haven’t heard back from him. I’ll check again this Sunday if nothing else. I’ll try to ship the extra books and shirts back tomorrow and will send you images of the receipt for tracking.

Having you here and seeing this be such a huge success has been a real highlight of my year! You were spectacular! I hope this marks the next phase of BBB! And thank you for the great shout out at the end! YOU rock!

    • Oh Jeff what a kind note thank you:) and thank you to Hilary for that awesome feedback! I so loved meeting her! What a beautiful spirit she has 🙂 Jeff – I cannot thank you enough. No rush with the books! And yes! I have been so touched by the kind and loving support. God I certainly good 💛 hope you’re having a great night! Hugs and love to you and your girls! xox

  3. Your story is powerful. I hope you will continue to have opportunities to share it with others. What you said about sharing your story with others is very true. If God turns us into lamps in this dark world, we should put it on display to encourage and help others.

    • Oh gosh thank you so much! I pray that be the case. And amen! We are all His lamps inthedark!! Hugs and love xox

  4. Fantastic, Christ Honouring talk Caralyn, as you told your story. Powerful testimony of the Power and Love Of God, and how He will never leave a person, and will give a Breakthrough.
Your honest and humble way of describing the journey you were on, and then the Victory brought tears, even though I knew what was coming. Particularly seeing in my mind, the vision of your Dad hunched over and broken.
This is the next step in an important ministry Holy Spirit has entrusted you with, to help people, and Honour Christ.
I forwarded your video to a friend with a relative suffering ED, as well as giving her “Bloom” when it first came out.

God’s Continuing Blessings and Strength Caralyn.
    Luv, 😀🌹❤️😘

    • Hi George!! Oh gosh thank you so much for such kind words and for watching! Amen! The power of God! I am so grateful for His rescue mission for me 🙂 yeah – my dad is my hero – what a man. Thank you for passing it along. I am humbled that you would do that. Thank you. I will pray for her. George, you’re awesome. Thank you so much. Hugs and love xox

  5. Bravo, bravo, bravo! My prayer is that this is just the first of thousands of opportunities God will present you with to share your impactful testimony in the years to come. I was moved by your honesty, transparency and willingness to give all the glory to Christ. Your story will lead many to seek the help that only Jesus can provide. So very proud of you!

    • Hi Rollie!! Oh thank you so much for that prayer and for your wonderfully encouraging words. Yes!! All the glory to Jesus! I wouldn’t have my recovery with Him!! Hugs and love xox

    • Oh gosh thank you so much!!! What a kind thing to say. Thank you for being in my corner! Hugs and love xox

  6. God is gracious and merciful to allow me an opportunity to still hear what I really thought my health had made me miss out on supporting you! I assure you He was kind enough to allow me to think on you and pray for you as often as possible, despite medication and the inability to stay awake as I am struggling to do even now.
But you are prayed for, Caralyn! And I trust God has been just as faithful to in perfecting His strength in any of your weakness! Below is a link to let you know you were thought of! He is your ever present help! The Holy Spirit never stops whispering to your soul. And God will always love you! I will listen to this as soon as the Lord allows. <3

    • Thank you so much Gail for your prayers and for your wonderfully kind words!! Gosh I will be praying for you too my friend as you’re healing!! Hang in there!!! I hope tomorrow is a good day for you 💛 sending ginormous hugs xox

  7. Carlayn, you were so powerful., while speaking. It is those things of which we are the most ashamed, that really helps others. I got emotional when watching it. We all struggle with something. Most of us have difficulty facing the ugliness of some of our actions. I loved your honesty, candor, humbleness, and giving Jesus credit. You will be doing this more frequently, in the future. So glad you came out of the shadows, using your mouth! The fragrance of Jesus, a sweet aroma, comes from you. In brokenness, his light shines! Love and hugs! XOXO

  8. Caralyn this rocked. I loved it. I’d love to have you speak to our high schoolers and will start working on this possibility. Sunday’s presentation was phenomenal… I’m so glad you cut to the chase about spiritual warfare and were so open. I’m praising God for your ministry!

    • Hi there! Oh gosh thank you so much – I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! And yes! Let’s make that happen! I’d love to speak with them! Praise God for His deliverance from that eating disorder! Hugs and love xox

  9. It was difficult knowing the evil one put you through that torment. Your suffering has illuminated a lot of dark places. Keep your speaking moving forward and your endeavors for the Kingdom and your journey will continue to show people that God will make them an overcomer.

  10. So excited to hear you speak your heart to help others. Brings a tear to my eye. So proud of you and excited for the direction God is taking you, beautiful friend and sister in Christ! As always, I love you! Hugs! XO 😄 ❤

  11. Wow, that is a powerful testimony. I should have you come and speak at my Gillette Church. I am so impressed with your struggle and the spiritual battle taking place. Wish all Christians could understand the battle that is taking place all around us.
Blessings, to you and May God continue to lead and direct in your ministry.

    Blessings,
    Pastor Lester

    • Thank you so much Pastor Lester 🙂 Gosh what a kind thing to say. Yes! Let’s make it happen! 🙂 I’d love to! God is good and I couldn’t be more grateful for His saving power in my life 🙂 hugs xo

    • Oh gosh thank you so much for taking the time to watch it!! I really appreciate your encouraging words. Means the world. Hugs and love xox

  12. I really enjoyed the video of your Memphis presentation. A lot of spiritual applications included in it. Thank you for sharing it online.

    • Thank you so much for watching! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Hugs and love xox

  13. I loved, loved, LOVED your vulnerability and transparency as you spoke. Though I haven’t struggled with an eating disorder, so much of what you shared resonated with me. Control. Vanity. People Pleasing. Being rescued. In-progress. As long as I have breath in these bones, I will praise the Lord. I will serve the Lord. You delivered His message absolutely beautifully. Praying nothing but more speaking opportunities for you as it is more than apparent that you are doing His will in that arena as well as here! 🙂 Hugs to you, my friend!

    • Oh gosh thank you so much for watching and for you wonderfully kind words!! So glad it resonated with you:) and gosh I appreciate your prayers! I hope you have a beautiful weekend!! This made me smile!! Hugs and love xox

  14. Powerful words and beautifully spoken. So resonated with me, and I love that you spoke of spiritual warefare side of this. Completely on point!

I’m on the other side of ED, I was bulimic. Abusing laxatives and dietetics and God had me lay them down last year praise God. Still walking through the bing part and trusting God to set me free completely 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your heart. I love your ministry💗🙏🏻🙌🏻🔥😇🗡

    • Aw thank you so much for watching! I’m so glad it resonated with you!!! Sending you big big hugs xox

  15. Great video. Thank you for sharing. It struck me that many testimonies have the same elements, from totally different directions, but their moment of coming to Jesus always has a moment of brokenness. It takes courage to tell your story, but really, Jesus was speaking through you. At least, I know my strength comes from Him.

    • thank you so much! i appreciate you taking the time to watch it 🙂 amen — that come to jesus moment! and yes! from Him! hugs ox

  16. I finally got to watch this. I’ve been busy the last couple days, still dealing with stuff related to home repair, and yesterday I think you saw I went to a concert in San Francisco… anyway, I just now got to watch this. Thank you so much for sharing. I think all of us have things to learn from this, whether or not we’ve ever struggled with eating disorders specifically. You have a story to tell that really will reach people.

    • oh my goodness thank you so much for taking the time to watch and for your kind words! what a truly touching response. thank you 🙂 hugs xo

  17. I was so glad to watch live…

I look forward to Monday’s post, on your Saturday talk. To affirm you in your happiness and to encourage the future steps you may wish to take… So good.

Sunday, you were vulnerable and received the church’s grace. 🙏🏼
    So important. Jeff rocks.
    🙂

    • Hi David, oh gosh thank you so much for watching live!! that’s incredible 🙂 sorry i didn’t get it posted tonight — i should be uploaded for Thursday! Jeff really does rock! hugs xo

  18. I have followed your blog for some time now and it has been great to see how God has used your story to bless so many people. Praise God for your devotion to following Christ’s lead for your life.

  19. It’s always more than interesting to see/hear the story of a fellow blogger, especially when it’s about Jesus. I will pray for you that he becomes ever more prominent in your life so that others will see him. You did a very good job – I can tell acting and speaking are in your training. I was only sad that there were so many empty places in the audience.

    • thank you so much Shirley! I think you’re right – there’s power in the voice. and gosh thank you for your prayers – it means the world! And despite what the video shows it was actually very well attended! 🙂 hugs xo

  20. wow – that was powerful. congratulations on delivering such an intimate talk (and singing as well). Never realized how all-consuming an eating disorder can be. Your story needs to be told everywhere – and you are the one to do so. Your talk also made me realize I never knew your name!

    • gosh thank you so much Jim! I really appreciate your kind words and support. yeah – it was like being on the treadmill at full speed and not able to get off. thank you so much for watching 🙂 i so appreciate it. hugs xo

  21. Thank you for sharing your strength and hope, it’s not easy sharing your struggles in front of a group. I can relate, as an addict. I attend meetings that seem to keep me on the straight and narrow, as you might say. I’m posting a video about my struggles with addiction in November on my YouTube channel/Blog.

  22. Caralyn,Well done, it was good to see and hear the real you within that video, when you shared your story of struggle and just how we can be so easy to be lied too and because of vanity we even lie to ourselves.
All too often we make up excuses (Lies in disguise) rather than face to truth

    • thank you so much Graham!! I so appreciate you watching! you’re right about that – we’ve got to find that Truth! hugs xo

    • Thank you so much Ted for watching!!! And for your kind feedback! Have a great afternoon! Hugs and love xox

    • Oh gosh thank you so much Eri 🙂 I’m so glad it resonated with you 💛 Hugs and love xox

  23. Caralyn… I watched this talk and … wow. I have a daughter who is 24 and struggled with an eating disorder for years in her teens. Listening to you… it brought back so many emotions and created a space for healing. You truly are an amazing young woman and I am so thankful to have found your blog and continued to follow it. Girl…sister… I am SO PROUD of you for coming out from behind the veil of BBB and giving yourself space to say, “I did this. I own it. I have grown.” The way you are helping so many people now through your story… shame has NO PLACE in your life.

As I listened to you, besides creating a space for healing with my daughter, you gave me permission I didn’t realize I still needed. At 42, I realized I still hadn’t forgiven my 21 – 31-year-old self for staying in an abusive relationship and hiding within it instead of having the strength to receive better treatment. I stayed and would have still been in the relationship because I hate the pain of divorce and never wanted to experience it or have my children experience it. In doing so, I became a version of myself that was filled with masks and crutches. As I listened to your talk, I realized why I am struggling to hit publish on my book that shares some poems and reflections from that time in my life. In doing so, I may have come up with a more appropriate title for the book and finally figured out the cover so I can give myself the power and strength to publish and stop hiding behind my lack of writing or speaking about what I went through. I used to and then I silenced myself because I hated the pity people gave me. But you are so right about the freedom from shame and the fact that this is about so much more than our own stories. I tell people that all the time as a voice discovery coach and ghostwriter. Thanks for reminding me it applies to me too! With love and hugs, thank you again for being you. I look forward to seeing more from Caralyn as you step out from behind the safety of BBB. The world is waiting and we embrace who you are as a blogger and a human! ~Shell

    • Hi Shell, first of all, thank you for watching the video. I’m so sorry to hear that this hit so close to home. Gosh I am so touched by these kind words. Truly. They are mike a balm to my soul. And thank you for sharing your heart and your story. I’m so sorry that you endured that abuse. Gosh – it breaks my heart. I think what you’re doing in publishing your book and poems is absolutely inspiring and will be not only healing to you, but to those who read it as well. You so SO deserve that freedom, Shell. You are worth it. And you are an overcomer💛 you are a blessing to me. Thank you again my dear friend. Hugs and love xox

      • I am thankful for it hitting close to home…please don’t be sorry. That is where the healing becomes possible -when our words touch someone to the core. You truly inspired healing as we listened. It was so beautiful. I just listened again with my youngest (11) becuase she came in while I commented earlier. You spoke in such a way that I was confident for her to be able to hear and learn. You’re amazing. Hugs back. Have a great night!

      • You’re so right about that – that’s where the healing begins. I am truly humbled by that – praise God indeed. Gosh, thank you 🥰 same to you!! Xoxoxox

  24. […] I started blogging. Initially, it was aimed at creating a brand for myself and hopefully selling the Christian fiction novel I’d self-published a few years back – The Substance Hoped For (shameless plug). God had other plans. I met BeautyBeyondBones online and made a friend there. I’ve been able to give her some support over the years, especially giving her public speaking ministry a start recently at my church. See My Story. […]

  25. Wow what an amazing story. We have such a strong pull to please those around us when what we ought to concern ourselves with is pleasing our Lord and we know he looks at our souls, not our shells. So glad you have shared your testament and I hope it helps shed light for others going through it. Love your blog!

    • Thank you so much Mikk! You’re so right about that – He looks at the soul! Thanks for your support! Hugs and love xox

  26. I didn’t realise you had such a lovely voice, Caralyn!
(Having only read your blog posts, previously.)

Watching this made me wonder how you’d feel speaking to an audience of ALL your followers at once?

You could fill Madison Square Garden with them, now.
    For two nights running.

Reckon, you are already a star.
    A Blog Star! 🤩 👏

    • Awww what a kind thing to say!! Thank you so much 🙂 oh my gosh – you’re funny to say that – honestly it would be such a thrill haha thanks for the little nudge of encouragement 🙂 you rock. Hugs and love xox

    • Awww thank you so much Ada!!! It was such a special experience. I was so grateful to have had the opportunity! Hugs and love xox

  27. I listened to your story today. Wow! What a story of redemption and grace. Every youth and parent would benefit immensely from your testimony. I don’t mind admitting I cried through much of it.
You encouraged me in my own journey through severe depression and PTSD.
Thank you for your humble spirit and willingness to give God the glory. My estimation of you, although already high, has taken quite a leap upward. God bless your ministry and give you many more opportunities to share your story in an open forum.

    • Oh my gosh thank you so much Jay for taking the time to listen. I am humbled to think that it resonated with you. Yes – All our journeys look different, but God’s abundant grace is poured out on each of us!! Thanks for this incredible encouragement. Big hugs to you xox

  28. I love this! I recently got out of treatment for my anorexia and this is really motivating! I love that I can relate to your words and someone else feels EXACTLY how i feel!

    • Hi Allie, thank you for sharing that – I’m cheering for you that you’ve reclaimed your life and took those steps!!! rock on sister, you’ve got this!!! sending big big hugs and love xox
