Waukesha, Michigan & Our Glaring Need for Change

I’m going to be honest, listening to the news these past few weeks has been bleak.

Somber to say the least.

This Christmas season – that should be well underway with holly and hot chocolate – started with a terrifying massacre in Waukesha, Wisconsin – where, as we know, a domestic terrorist drove his car straight into the parade, killing six and injuring 50 others.

But these murders reveal a glaring need we have here in the United States. #catholic #christianity #christmas #faith #oxford #wisconsin #gunlaws #guncontrol

And that was right after learning the horrifying details from Gabby Petito‘s autopsy, that her cause of death was death by strangulation – throttling.

And just this past week, we heard the tragic news of a school shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan, where a student brought his father’s handgun to school and killed four classmates, and injured seven others, including a teacher.

I don’t know if our hearts can take any more news of horrifying deadly violence that is seeming more and more common these days.

The news is all over the latter tragedy, in Michigan. (Wisconsin has been all but forgotten, as mainstream media declared the domestic terrorist attack as “an accident.”) But Michigan fits a narrative that is right in their sweet spot: gun control.

And I’ve listened to sources on all sides of the aisle on this one: everything from your classic – abolish the 2nd amendment, to arming teachers with guns to prevent a school shooting like this in the future.

And I’ll leave you to debate that in the comments section….I won’t touch that here.

But as I’ve been praying about these tragedies, something very crystal clear has come to the forefront of my mind.

If these three back-to-back tragedies have illuminated anything, it’s that it doesn’t matter what weapon is used, if a person has that evil in their heart to commit murder, they will find a way to do it. They’ll use their car, they’ll use their hands, they’ll use a gun. The crisis is not in the “weapon” of choice, but rather – a crisis of the heart.

And the thing that kept coming to mind, was how this is the ramification of a world that has turned its back on God.

This is what a godless world looks like. Take a look around, because we’re living in it.

And I know that is a really cynical view to take, but it is the truth.

These three tragic examples over the last few weeks — the men that committed those terrible, terrible crimes, they all used different “weapons,” but their motive came from the same source: a heart that longed to destroy.

And that’s putting it too romantically. They wanted to kill. For one reason or another. They wanted to commit the unconscionable act of murder, and in three different, gut-wrenching ways, they succeeded.

This world needs Jesus.

And to be honest, it is a really depressing thing to think about where this world is headed. You ask, “What can I do? Where do we go from here? “

But the truth is, that’s like asking how to stop a freight train with nothing but a slingshot and a pebble.

Right now is a really important time to be a Christian. I believe that. I think that the world is falling away so fast, so far, so hard, in more and more extreme ways.

There is no more right and wrong. Moral relativism is the great evil we’re faced with, that is eroding society to the core.

Read any story, and it’s example after example of a society devoid of any semblance of God, of goodness, of upstanding character, of value of human life.

Right now as Christians, it is more important than ever to pray for this nation. To pray for its return to Jesus. To pray for the change of hearts to just be curious about God. He will do the rest.

But more than that, we must live out our faith. We need to be a living example of the Gospel — it may be the only exposure to it a person ever gets. Our lives need to clearly point back to God, in a way that invites people to wonder what makes us different.

And that is a huge task. But it our most important duty in this lifetime.

We can pray before mealtimes in public. We can invite people to church with us. We can volunteer with our church’s outreach programs in areas of need. We can bring up our faith in conversation. One thing I like to do is say, “God bless you!” whenever I get out of a cab or Uber. Because I’ll tell you what – alone in a car, you do a lot of thinking, and just those three little words have the potential to spark a lot of thoughts.

Evil is alluring. It is seductive and will entice you in with the greatest of ease. Believe me – I nearly succumbed to anorexia — one of the enemy’s filthiest ways to get ahold of someone’s body, mind and soul. So yes – I know it’s allure.

But God is more. His goodness. His light. His love is more attractive than any trick the enemy can pull.

Our job is to demonstrate that.

Because we’re up against the entire world.

So my question to you, is how are you going to combat the negativity we’re experiencing this Christmas, and be God’s light in your circle of influence?

Lord, heal the hearts of all those touched by these tragedies, and move in the hearts of your people, Lord. Turn hearts of stone into hearts of flesh that desire to know You. And stop this fright train that is barreling straight into the arms of the enemy. We need You.

  1. “…listening to the news…” This might be part of your problem, hon! Pay attention, sure; but listen? No, they only have misery and hopelessness to sell you.

“But Michigan fits a narrative that is right in their sweet spot: gun control.” You couldn’t have said it better… that’s why Michigan gets press and Wisconsin doesn’t.

The truth is not cynical. It’d be cynical if you came to this conclusion and (for instance) these three stories were the only evil in our world. But these are merely example of WHY God is necessary in our lives more now than ever before.

Keep up your ministry — it’s easy to get bogged down in the mess, but if you do… you let the Enemy win. Merry Christmas to you.

    • Hi Matt. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. You’re right – the news is full of toxicity!! Great points. Yes! That is so true – He is necessary in our lives, and we’re seeing what happens when that isn’t the case. Amen to that – audience of One!! Merry Christmas to you as well! I appreciate you stopping by and sharing this awesome insight. Hugs and love xox

    • Michigan might just have problems of their own that foreshadow a grim reality for our country, which is a stunning indifference for life versus white privilege. That any jury could acquit Rittenhouse? Shocking. That another set of tragically fatal attacks could be labeled accidental – which I haven’t heard, so strictly going off the narrative on this post – tells me that there’s something disturbing happening in that local culture. To think the “rest” of the US couldn’t fall into this same indifference would be foolhardy…given that we’re basically already there. One party in particular is hellbent on banning abortion to protect life but equally passionate about *not* curbing gun restrictions that could prevent children slaughtering their peers in school.
Until we unravel that dichotomy of American politics, expect superlatively shitty and dynamically depressing headlines to not just continue, but grow.
To paraphrase the false prophet Donald J Trump, “Sad!”
But my mental soundtrack when I watch the news is too often a 40-ish year old song from Anne Murray, “I sure could use a little good news today”…

      • I think it tells rational people all we need to know that you find it ‘shocking’ a jury would acquit Rittenhouse. It’s apparent from that comment alone you don’t know anything about the actual case or what you’re talking about in the least. Which makes it all together believable you know nothing of Waukesha because you’ve subscribed fully to the State Propaganda Machine that has no interest in informing its viewers of any actual truth.

At its simplest, the right to keep and bear arms is in the constitution on which the country is founded. I’ve read that document several times and have yet to find the sacred right to kill unborn babies. Let me know where it is in there, and I’ll change my mind.

You can’t make the argument for “preventing children slaughtering their peers in school” while at the same time demanding the right to slaughter babies before they’re born. If you were intellectually consistent, what’s the difference? The Leftist dogma is rife with hypocrisy, inconsistency, and willful ignorance.

Your Leftist Cult has kept you ignorant and you haven’t bothered questioning anything you’ve been told.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you have the capability to think rationally; I’m less optimistic you have the capacity. It’s easier to fool someone than to convince them they’ve been fooled. And there’s nothing wrong with being fooled. Where the fault lies is being unwilling to acknowledge facts, swallow your pride, and make the changes you need to make to keep from being fooled again.

I don’t have any expectations you’ll change your mind; I’ve dealt with far too many Leftist Cult members to be optimistic about that outcome.

Even if you surprised me and you did change your mind, I don’t expect everyone to be as conservative as I am. That’s the nice thing about thinking for yourself — you get to find the things that matter and debate the merits of those things with people who may not agree with you.

Being ignorant of the facts is not a permanent condition; you can be better than this. It’s obvious from your comments you need someone to pray for you, so I’ll do it.

        Have the day you deserve.

      • Wow. The title for the Mister (because religion is ridiculously misogynistic) Dogma Swilling There’s No Hate Like Christian Love title goes to…YOU, Pumpkin!
Since you started with the Second, let’s just end there. A SEVENTEEN year old can be driven across state lines by his mother with a gun he can’t legally possess and shoot three people and get off scott-fucking-free?!?
Please report to your nearest clergyman for your next non-consensual-but-completely-absolved-ass-raping, then come back at me with this broken logic, you Stockholm Syndrome Widow.
I could pull apart what you think is a logical (it’s not, it’s 100% church dogma) argument thread by thread, but I won’t…since I have to pee. Fair warning, I only have to pee because I’m pretty drunk. I only mention that here since I feel like I could annihilate any argument you make for your Drain Bamaged stance with *any* blood alcohol level. That only reinforces my default stance for both gun control and a woman’s right to control her own physical body against whatever so-called arguments those in the at best narrow-minded pro-life camp could possibly wage against me. Case in point, did you *really* even address the careless disregard the GOP’s “Thoughts and Prayers” response to the egregious school shootings occurring in this country or did you just slather a bunch of emotional disdain on the issues and walk away?!? At least wash your hands after wiping your ass with our country’s precious-and-in-need-of-Church-and-Supreme-Court-protection-offspring before you come after me with 0% merit to back your argument, because of *all* life isn’t precious, then a cluster of cells that couldn’t live outside of its host certainly shouldn’t be…except “god”. Ok…sure, Jan.
        STHU, dummy.

      • Your righteousness is infuriating to me only because I think for myself. Reading your response suggests that you aren’t even familiar with that concept. You are representative of a significant problem in our country – not whether something is right or wrong, but whether something jives with *your* values or not. That is literally why the pilgrims left England. Our country isn’t about one theological right, it’s about individual freedoms.
So, not to borrow from any tropes, but if you don’t want an abortion…don’t get one! If you don’t approve of gay marriage, don’t get gay married! If you don’t approve of the slaughtering of innocent bystanders…oops, your response suggests you *actually* do approve of that, otherwise, why respond?
You’re clearly a terrible person and I would “pray” for you if I bought into that crap. Good luck in the “afterlife”.

      • I infuriate you because I struck a nerve, and you know know I’m right about you. Case in point, I have not devolved into puerile name-calling, lost my temper, or become emotional.

Your responses, on the other hand, are the typical emotional, reactionary, knee jerk response of Leftists who don’t think but feel. If you truly thought for yourself, people who think differently from you wouldn’t be a threat to your tiny worldview.

If you could actually think for yourself and if you knew anything at all about the Rittenhouse case, you’d know the “crossing state lines” bit was utter nonsense. It is situations like Rittenhouses — that is, self-defense — that we have the 2nd Amendment. You’ve displayed your unwillingness to look at the case on your own by parroting the talking points of a State Propaganda Machine that doesn’t have this country’s interests at its foundations.

Your rage-filled resposne is what we call confession through projection. Perhaps if you spent less time in your bottle and more time with the God who gave you the ability to think whether you use it not, you’d be far more emotionally stable and a lot less self-loathing.

        Have the day you deserve.

      • Nah. That’s all crap. Nice try, though. I’m sure there’s plenty of dipshits that will do a classless version of a golf clap for your response…but they also don’t see your grammatical errors. So, you enjoy your “support”.
You know you’re on the wrong side, but it doesn’t negatively impact you, so you slap it in the face with your micro penis. You’re pathetic. Stop trying to convince me I’m wrong…I see you.

      • And stop signing off with “Have the day you deserve”. That’s pretty judgy for someone who purports to follow the teachings of someone who said “Judge not, lest ye be judged”…a wise follower would be terrified and ashamed of their own behavior here…looking for a priest/confessor in a panic. You’re probably waving a weaponized American flag. You’re a horror show of an Americunt.

      • It seems you disagree with me; this is fine. It doesn’t affect me personally for someone to have a different opinion than I do. I’m not trying to convince you of anything — I’m not so arrogant to assume I know everything or think I’m always right as to present myself as insufferably superior. I merely present an alternative view. It’s up to you to decide for yourself. I can pray that you find your way out of your misery; but I can’t pray you out of it. You have the tools to find your way to God, but it’s up to you to use them.

You can deflect all you like; but if you’re unwilling to debate on the merits of what I’ve said, then I cannot spend any more time on this. This is not my blog post, and I refuse to argue on your level: Name calling and playground insults are not productive debate.

Since “have the day you deserve” seems to upset you for some reason, I shall sign off to with: Have the day you’ve earned for yourself.

      • Oh, for fuck’s sake. Re-read your comments. If you believe your own bullshit, wander up to an easily spooked 17 year old carrying a gun in Kenosha.
Pretty sure I’ve sm ready told you I’m not buying into your gaslighting. But I get it, you can’t stop tapping because while I’m unconvinced, there’s literally dozens of “souls” – and I mean mindless tithers and subscribers – that are simply because you braved your way into the heathen and liberal lands of mi faggotry.
I pity you, but feel worse for the unthinking simps that agree with your pathetic dogmatic regurgitations.

  2. Hi Caralyn! I agree with you totally. From the information that has come out, the fellow in WI had issues and decided to take them out on innocent people. He’d been in and out of the system and shouldn’t have been out then. The student in MI was clearly hurting psychologically and emotionally. Why his parents or the school admin allowed him to return to the classroom is a heartbreaking mystery.

Of course, we can count on those with an evil agenda to ignore the one that doesn’t promote their agendas and grossly use the one that does. All we can do for all sides is exactly what you said, remember God is in control, know that none of this has taken Him by surprise, continue to shine the light of Christ to all concerned, and know that somehow He will work all of it for good and His glory.

Hope you and your Mom had a great weekend! Have a great week! 🙂

    • Hey Kenneth! Thanks so much for this insightful response. That is so true – we’ve got to remember that He is in control. Bingo. And yes – I do believe that. Let our lights shine! Thanks – we did!! So much fun with her 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  3. A few observations. All of the killers you mention are Christians, so maybe that doesn’t help as much as you would like it to. I’m not sure who you think the moral relativists are or how you define them. All morality is relative to one’s beliefs. It provides an excuse to justify the bad stuff people do.

I mean, what kind of parents give their troubled teen an automatic pistol for Xmas?

But people are animals, after all, no matter how much we wish we weren’t. And religion which places people above animals has been the cause of much of the killing throughout history and continues today, so maybe that’s not the answer.

One of the key roles of government is to maintain its monopoly on violence. But with so many innocent people killed by police and executed for crimes they didn’t commit, it’s hard for some people to buy into that. When a Congressman poses for a Christmas photo with his family all holding automatic weapons and wishing for Santa to send ammo and a Colorado police department posts a pic of Santa getting a concealed carry permit what’s the public to think?

I know America will never take guns away from its people, even though they are the main cause of murders and suicides.

So my modest proposal is a law that requires everyone to have a gun and be naked whenever they leave home.

  4. Amen, Caralyn! You are exactly right. It is definitely a heart issue. People have turned away from God and strayed so far that many believe we are in the end times. I have been praying for revival and for the Lord to turn people’s hearts towards Him. That people would turn from evil, and repent. That’s a great question about what are we going to do. I pray to keep standing firm and share the Gospel at all costs. I also tell people “God bless.” Shining His light and putting the focus on Jesus will always cut through the darkness. May God have mercy on us all. God bless you!

    • Hi Ryan, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this. You’re absolutely right, we’ve got to stand firm at all costs!! So glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

    • I don’t mean to hijack your comment, but you said something here similar to something I was thinking about this morning:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)

It’s not the heathen that have to change, it’s God’s People who have to turn from their wicked ways, repent, and seek God’s face. Like little drops in the waves, we have to do things like this as individuals. Revival is possible, I believe it is. It’s happened before. Keep it up, Ryan… even if we have to be the pebbles at the beginning of the snowball. God bless to you as well.

    • Thank you HJ! Yes! It’s a cheesy little song, but it really packs a punch! It’s the absolute truth! Hugs and love xox

  5. Your view of the world is NOT cynical, but Biblical. When Adam and Eve chose Satan over God, they handed him the “keys to the kingdom.” Indeed, Satan is referred to as the “ruler of this world.”

How do I plan to combat the evil that is spreading? You hit all the right notes. Prayer – the means of FIRST resort. Saying kind things to people. I always compliment parents on their kid’s good behaviour…especially the ones going solo! I hold doors for people; it’s often the little things that give someone that little extra to make it through the day. Witness Jesus whenever possible!

    Hugs and love!

    • Hi Jeff! Thanks for this powerful insight. You’re right – prayer is the first and best resort. I truly believe in the power of prayer. And I love all those other examples too. I’ve also tried to become a “door holder” and I’ll tell you what – people in NY don’t know how to react! They can’t believe someone is actually holding the door for them. I love that – witness Jesus whenever possible. Amen my friend. And when necessary, use words! So glad you stopped by Jeff. Hope you and your fam are having a great Monday. Hugs and love xox

      • We are well. Hillary’s job is going well and we’re all healthy. I pray you had a good visit with your mom. I pray for your continued safety as I keep reading all those scary NYC headlines!

  6. Very true dear lady, standing by is just saying its all ok. Wherever I go, whatever I do, my smile is my hello and cheer is my being. And God…he guides me to my destinations so that they too can feel Him and what He means in that love ❤️ 😀 🙏🏽 🦋

    • Thank you Mark. You’re right, it’s supporting it through non action against it. I love your examples. A smile goes such a long way!! 🙂 Hugs and love xox

  7. Once again, you’re spot on in your assessment. Our only sure foundation in these moral-crumbling times is Jesus Christ. May more people pay attention to the real Christmas message and experience the miracle of hearts changed by His love this season!

  8. I know most in today’s world view things through an evolutionary mind frame which in essence is survival of the fittest as a normal process in an upward journey of humanity. It was the influence behind Hitler’s master race theory and you would have to be of a strange mind frame to say that turned out well. Now evolutionists don’t give value to the Bible but to me it is a more logical view of how human nature went backward at the fall of Adam and why humans think and act as they do today when they don’t have the moral compas of the Holy Spirit to correct them. Two passages of Scripture come to mind to explain this. Gen. 6:5 tells us God had to wipe the slate clean and start over with Noah. Then Jesus had something to say when he was with us on earth to validate that story and it’s found in Matt. 24:37-39. It implies in that last passage that God’s patience has a limit and the rest of the NT says next time He visits everything gets a make over and evil will be eradicated at that time. The Bible also predicts there will be scoffers a plenty before the curtain finally comes down and I think you will agree the majority are not willing to read the Bible story in its entirety today but rather treat it as a book of fiction. No scientist or politician can fix the mess the world is in today but I believe there is someone who can and the Bible says we can count on Him doing that. God is fair. We can be an unbeliever and choose the way of this world and happily take the consequences at the end of our life, or a believer knowing the world will be fixed by the Creator and we who choose to believe will have a bright eternity in a remake of this world but with no chaos or tendency to evil in the hereafter. I find the latter choice comforting in this chaotic world. 🙂

  9. This might be radical and highly controversial, but my heart breaks for the suspects and perpetrators. Even as I condemn their actions, I am pained to think that they were not able to deal with their hurts, their anger, and pain in a constructive manner.

    Hurt people hurt people. 💔

  10. The news is the problem. Life is good, do not despair. By every measurable metric the world is better than it has ever been. Extreme poverty is down by billions. Women’s rights area an all time high. Disease is down and your chance of living a full life, life expectancy and infant mortality are at rates unheard of in the past. People of alternate lifestyles can be cherished and open more so than ever before, and violent crime is actually much lower the any time in history.
Humanity is winning. Information overload and automated news fees are not real life!

  11. Thank you for this! You’re so right. We need to shine Jesus’ light– after having a family member and a friend both commit suicide (from hanging and medication overdose, not by a gun), I realized how much love and truth they needed to hear but never did. Something we can learn from these tragedies is that you never know where a person truly may be in their lives and hearts and heads. Gotta love those around us– Jesus Himself commanded it. <3

  12. Evil is evil, whether or not these criminals are raised to be Christians or not (in response to the first person’s comment). I do believe that we are born good, as some would say, a reflection of God’s image. I do believe that we are love, just by being. It makes me question how misguided and mislead these people have to be in order to perform such insufferable crimes. I would say that society has lead these criminals to betray not only God, but themselves.

I am still struggling to accept that the Universe is the way it is supposed to be. If that was the case, God wouldn’t make these innocent victims suffer. Why them? Why did they have to die? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around some people were dealt very unlucky cards… wrong place at the wrong time I guess.

  13. “This is what a godless world looks like”, true, true, true sister! But even moreso, as you said, we must live out our faith, make the most of every opportunity and above all – seek to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives before we see Him face to face.
Press on Caralyn, thank you for highlighting these vital points!

  14. Whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is holy, focus on these things. Phil 4. The sword of the spirit is the word of God. That is our weapon of choice along with living and sharing his good news, as opposed to the news in the world that can only show nothing good, it seems. Government cannot save us from ourselves, but Jesus can. Thank you Carolyn!

  15. As Jesus taught, we must stay alert and be prepared because things are going to get even worse. This country is suffering the wrath of God but, thanks to His mercy, those who belong to Him can find comfort in knowing His plan is good, even if we don’t see it.

  16. Caralyn,
Tragically, this is not “what a godless world looks like” . . . yet. There are many, even in these communities in Wisconsin and Michigan (and New York, San Fransisco, LA, Seattle and Portland), who still believe in God and look for opportunities to share His love and holiness.
However, I say, “Tragically” because we ARE moving that direction. If you have read my most recent prophecy series you will know that I expect Jesus to come for His church, all who believe in His Name, very soon. We cannot set dates or even years, but it is very difficult to imagine another 50 years of decline before He returns. THEN, those left behind will almost see “what a godless world looks like” and they are to be pitied. It will probably be the largest harvest of souls the world has ever seen as people realize Christ did return and they will repent and start to take the Bible seriously. Then, after 3-1/2 years, the anti-Christ will come into power, a Mark will be required for buying and selling anything, he will enter the Holiest Place in the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem, and the Jews will realize Jesus WAS their Messiah.
THEN, people will fully experience “what a godless world looks like.” So sad, so it is urgent to do as you say: Be God’s light in your circle of influence! Warn with the apostle Paul, “With this fear of the Lord always foremost in our thoughts, we try to persuade others.” 2 Corinthians 5:11 (NCB)

  17. Great q.
I seem to have a black and white choice at the moment – to look on the corruption, or to share the positive.

So, the how for me – is in prayer, and remembering what God has done 🙌🏼, and keeping the *welcome* open…

  18. It’s very unfortunate that our society has lost its moral compass. This type of violence is not only occurring in America, but also in Nigeria. A 12-year-old boy was poisoned recently because he refused to join a cult. I’m wondering where the world is going now that children are being exposed to cultism and evil acts at such a young age. It is high time for sleeping believers to awaken and spread the gospel of Jesus through all means possible. The world is ending.

  19. Indeed. “God bless you” are three simple words that can get a lot of positivity going. Faith and positivity are somethings we need at all times to help us.

    • Thank you so much Tej, for sharing your thoughts. You’re right – those three little words can bring about a lot of thoughts! amen to that. Hugs and love xox

  20. The heart of man is full of potential for life or death. The direction of the outworking of that heart for good or bad depends on who has control or influence of that heart. I have surrendered my heart and life to Christ and pray for the continued empowerment of the Holy Spirit so my that my life would bring healing to others rather than hurt. Now I try to encourage those in my bubble to do likewise and ask God to enlarge my bubble. This is how we change the world for good. Be a Jesus follower and encourage others to follow Him.

  21. May we focus on what the media never reports (mainly because they are paid to spread bad news, thinking that bad news sells advertisement space). There were millions of people who did not kill their neighbors. There were hundreds, no thousands who helped their neighbors. And the great thing is that a lot of them did so anonymously, giving God the glory as they, themselves, faded into the shadows.

  22. I like the idea of states requiring liability insurance for gun owners. Let capitalism do its thing on these 2A nutjobs.

  23. Light illuminates the dark.

When we walk into a dark room, do we wander in it, bumping into furniture or worse – stumble & fall – creating our own possible pain or demise? or do we reach for the light switch or lamp?

Darkness lurks in the human heart. We all need Jesus. We all need The Light.

Keep on sharing your love for & from Him 💜

    • Hi Karah, thank you so much for sharing your heart on this. You’re right about that – we need His light right now more than ever! amen! glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  24. Yes, Caralyn, what is going on in our world right now is very troubling. But, like you, I hang my hat on this: “Right now as Christians, it is more important than ever to pray for this nation. To pray for its return to Jesus. To pray for the change of hearts to just be curious about God. He will do the rest.” Amen! In that conviction I rest my hope!! Have a lovely rest of your week – and keep speaking Truth. We all need to hear it. <3 Love to you. <3

    • Hi Jan, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. You’re so right – that is what we are called to do: pray and live out the Gospel!! so glad you stopped by! Hugs and love xox

  25. Every day in America (and the world), we read about tragic news. Even the three C’s in Ohio are not immune from tragedy. Most definitely, we need Jesus . . . to be front and center.

  26. Wonderful article Carlyn! You are such a dear person, I keep you in my prayers! As you say it is a fact that people who are bent on evil will use anything to accomplish their intentions. Attributing the attacks to the objects have that been used is not the answer. Thus, if guns are banned that will not solve the problem, other materials and objects will be used to maim and kill. We would have to ban cars, knives, bows and arrows and everything else that could be used to hurt and kill people and that still would not prevent pain and destruction. As you say, taking God and Jesus out of our country and the world is exactly why we have so much turmoil and death. It is heartbreaking to see what this civilization has come to (if I can call it a civilization, as we are not living in a civilized society anymore since we are are not respecting and honoring our creator God).

    • Thank you Delores, I appreciate your prayers so much! You’re right – sadly, evil will come to the surface if it is in the heart of the person wanting to commit it. We have a crisis of the heart on our hands. And that’s so true – society has turned its back on God, and it shows. Glad you stopped by. Hugs and love xox

  27. Caralyn, thank you for the call to action! Sometimes we look around us and are so over-whelmed by the downward spiral swirling within our world we fail to take a moment to recognize what WE can do to stop the spin. And maybe not for the entire world, but certainly the small space we occupy & those we are blessed to share this space with. Hugs to you for helping us remember to be more mindful & specific in what we CAN do vs no action at all. 💕
